congrats man!

on the immobilizer issue - your opening up a massive can of worms. there are tonnes of threads about good and bad ones. You can argue the issue that the cheaper immobilizers are abviously lower quality - thus does not protect your car as much as expensive ones, and brand name immobilizers are easier to bypass because they are so widely used.

At the end of the day the level of your cars security is up to you. Your better of keeping it to yourself so no one knows how far you have gone to make your car safe.

Alot of poeple go for the mongoose immobilisers, and they come in a range of security levels. three point immiblizers are the best i tihnk. And yeah i was lucky to get a qoute less then $500.

Congrats on picking up the r33 sydking.

my fisrt mod after getting mine was an alarm and after reading a couple of recent thefts on the forum i would reccomend getting a decent system.

I had Daniel from Platinum Car Security install mine and he was great-took the time to do it right and the best part is he comes to you which was great. i also thought very well priced considering it takes a while to install. So i would definately receommend him.

http://www.platinumcarsecurity.com/ he is also a sponsor on ns http://nissansilvia.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=365532

cheers rich.

i got the m80s with the motion sensors inside, shock sensors etc and tilt sensors, so if somone wants to jack your car up to take the wheels it'll go off just before the wheel comes of the ground. but yeh dont skimp of the alarm, get a club lock as well just for looks more than anything you wouldnt want to have anything happen to your new car :D enjoy it

its pretty obvious that they're there if your looking through the window, how you gunna disable them without going into the car, as soon as you go into the car the alarm would go off and it'd be just like disabling any other alarm so why are you being a smart ass when all im trying to do is help the guy out. mayby i should take out the flashing red led as well so if someone walks past they might think it doesnt have an alarm and then get a rude shock when they smash my window..........

sorry i didnt realize you knew which one of the skylines in aus mine was shit i'd better watch out, here's a hint its not the car in my profile, that should help you break into my car a little bit more. hmmmm i reckon i should enter in at least which city i live in in my profile so that will help you a bit more, get down off your high horse and put a post in if you think it contributes to the relative topic tool

Just saw this thread - Ease up mate, i was only kidding. I honestly thought you would have just taken a hint and removed the alarm details from your above post!? But hey, each to their own.

To clarify, yes - you can bypass microwave sensors hooked up to an M80, if you really want to scoop that low and attempt to steal someone elses pride and joy. I'm not going to be responsible for educating people how to do it - but it can be done. I actually had one set up in my old car and also had the same alarm, would loved to of explained to you the best way to set, position and place the sensor itself, and also a few things which are almost always bypassed during standard security installs to pretty much ensure you wont get f**ked if someone did try and steal it - but unfortunately, it doesnt look like you want advice. Also, while on topic - a large number of the generic microwave sensors are defective and false alarm a lot - etc, easy fix for these though if you know what you're doing. I have numerous friends who are auto electricians and have a few which specialise in car security, so i guess its natural for a few of their small tricks rub off on to me.

No, I dont know your car - but some theives are experts. This is what they do. For example - its as easy as buying something from you even just on this forum, coming to pick it up, then they follow you home, plot the strike, then perform a few days or months later. I dont know about you, but owning these type of cars, I dont even pull into my street with any other cars in sight, if its busy, I pull over and wait till its silent.

Anyway, if someone did follow me home, i wouldnt want them to know what type of alarm i had installed. If im popping a deal with someone off this forum, I never even bring my car there, I even black out my rego plates in pictures. Call me careful, cautious, vigilant, whatever. But you never know who views what on the internet and why.

I'm here to help, but its a shame that the occasional joke can seriously send people over the edge such as the above.

I'm sure you were just having a bad day and you're not really as immature as that last post makes you out to be.

Cheers.

    • Even more fun, leave all the ADAS stuff plugged in, but in different locations, hopefully avoid any codes!   And honestly, all these new cars with their weird electronics. Pull all the electronics out Duncan, and just shove an aftermarket ECU and if needed a trans controller in, along with a PDM. Make it run basic but race car styled!
    • To follow up a question from earlier too since I had the front bar off again (fking!) This is what is between the bumper and the drivers side wheel And this is the navigator side, only one thing but its a biggy! So basically....no putting coolers in the wheel arches without a lot of moving other stuff. Assuming I move to properly race prepping this car I'll take that job on and see how the computers respond to removing a whole bunch of ADAS modules
    • So I prepped the car for another track day on Wednesday (will be interesting to see coolant temps post flushing out and the larger reservoir, with a forecast of 3-14 being 20o cooler than last time I took it out). Couple of things to mention; since I am just driving the car and not taking a support vehicle, I took the rear seats out and just loaded the back up Team Trackday style. Look at all that space! To cover off removing the rear seat....it is weird (note the hybrid is probably different because it wouldn't have folding rear seats) Basically, you remove the lower seat base, very similar to a r series but it is a clip that pulls forward to release the base rather than it being bolted down. Easy Then, you need to remove the side section of the rear seat on each side. There is a 14mm head nut at the bottom of the side piece, the it slides upwards off a hook at the top to release; you also need to unhook the seatbelt from the loop at the top. Then the centre piece is weird. You need to release/fold the seats forward with the tab in the boot on each side From there, there are 2,x12mm headed bolts holding the rear of each seat to the folding bracket, under the trim between the rear seat and the boot (4x christmas tree clips there, they suck). The seat is out but you can see where the bolts attach to the bracket
    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year.
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
