Hey all, I have recently become a member of the skyline owners club purchasing my first skyline from a member on here. Since my licence is still suspended until mid august ive been fixing a few little problems the car had like the head lights and what not. My issue now is that when i turn the a/c on or even just the fan it doesnt blow through any air at all and its got me stumped on to what could cause this. Ive checked all the fuse's and they are all ok. I have checked all thew connectors behind the stereo/climate control and they all seem to be plugged in. Has anyone else had this problem and what they did to fix it or how much it cost them for a auto electrician/air con place to fix?any help will be most appreciated.

Thanks

Daniel

cheers for that, followed the guide and got error code 21 when it started up which is the outside air temp sensor. then when going thru the fan and vent test nothing came out and i couldnt hear anything engage or anything, any ideas on how to fix or auto elec?

Here's a translation of the fusebox.

If still no air, replace the following with brand new fuses: both 15amp Fan Motor fuses (#4 & #5), the 10amp A/C fuses (#10 & #20) and the 10amp "Electronic parts" fuse (#23)

yep done that replaced all the fuse mentioned, will recheck them again to see if they are blown, but i doubt it as they wernt blown to start with :ninja:

If the R32 GTR climate control is the same as the GT-T's, grab the R32 GTR service manual PDF and read the Heater/Aircon section. Just will take alot of time probing with a multimeter that's all.

An educated guess if the fuses check out, is one of the relays are blown in the enginebay or the blower fan motor is dead.

what happens if you turn the fan speed up? i have had 2 cars (not skylines) where the fan didn't work on number 1 speed, but they did on faster speeds. you put it on 1 and nothing happened. i don't think the clutch engaged or anything. turned out to be some resistor thing for the fan motor. put a new one in and was all good. i think at 1 point when i was diagnosing it i pulled the resistor thing out and turned the fan on and it was on full the whole time, or maybe i shorted the wire across or something, but it made all speeds be full, LOL.

My old commodore was like that, common problem where the resister cage (looks like a mini birdcage with the resistorpack in the middle), no matter what fan speed you chosen, max fan speed.

nissans are common for the fan speed resistor.. usually the max seting will work as it is hardwired so u dont get stuck.. not 100% if its the same in the skylines!

resistor cost me like 70 bucks from nissan

    • @GTSBoy This method was able to get readings of -10 to -2, so it looks like its monitoring.  Now I need to figure out why the vacuum on the line provided isn't alternating with manifold pressure.  I went with 2 lines that an RB25 tuner recommended but I'll get a longer hose and try directly off the back of the manifold.  He may have been used to OEM intake setups while I have a DBW setup that removed the MAF and IACV.
    • I work at a car detailing and tinting shop called Quark which gets all manner of German cars in usually (mainly due to a contract with Mercedes Benz Kita Osaka, BMW Nishinomiya and others) but every once in a while something special comes in, like a fully restored 1972 HS30 Nissan Fairlady 240ZG... The shop owner had immediately started applying film to the windows as soon as it was in the shop so the interior was completely covered in towels and plastic sheets. But I could get a few photos of the engine bay which was restored like new. Such an amazing car to see in pristine condition in Japan these days.
    • Was going to say the car pulls up nicely everywhere, especially going into that last long right hander before the main straight. Looks like a lot of fun.
    • Hey Dave, welcome aboard! Good to see another soon-to-be Stagea owner here. The wagons are awesome — plenty of space, still got that Skyline DNA, and loads of potential if you’re into mods. Definitely post up pics when you get it, everyone here loves seeing new builds. What model/year are you looking at?
