Oil Leaks After Installing Sandwitch Plate + More

OK so I have a sandwitch plate installed for some after market guauges. I did it myself and am having evil oil leaks from the nuts that block the additional mounting locations for sensors (4 all up). I am totally over it as I am loosing a litre of oil every few weeks at the moment. Can anyone suggest a better way to mount the sensors? I am considering a remote filter mount but most of them dont work with guauges. The guauge sensors are not the same thread as on my car either so I can just screw in the replacements unfortunately. Alternatively can anyone suggest where I can get a decent sandwitch plate that doesnt leak?

Also what do you guys think is the best washer for the sump plug, Tin or that fibre stuff (the red ones).

copper or aluminum are pretty good sump plug washers. i think most if not all toyota's use the fiber ones and they work really well. you could drill out the plates adapter holes and re-tap to right thread size/pitch or put in a helicoil.

you did put thread tape around the senders and plugs right? Also there are a couple of similar sized threads like m10 and 1/4npt so make sure you have the right fittings.

definately right center adaptor. It screws in tight and on removal it looks like the seal has been compressed which looks good. I think the main issue is around the extra sensor screws on the side of the plate itself. Where can I get a really good plate with quality seals and bolts?

Yeah if its one of the blue ones JJR sell you need to use thread tape on the sensors and the blank bolts.

The blank bolts are tapered from memory. So make sure they are in the correct place and crank them in. Unsure if they come out again. The last (and only) one i bought stripped the plate when i removed the blanks.

Try using some brass plugs in there, make sure you get the right thread pitch/size. When you put them in use a sealer, I'm pretty sure loctite will make something suitable, or good old stag should work. Do them up tight and leave it off the car until the sealer cures.

      I know people cry at the price of the Getrag 12-14k for a conversion now, but it really is a nice mid point. Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
