I think i'm going to buy one of these really soon...'cause the amp i'm using for my sub is grossly underpowered.

http://www1.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?...x=&SUBCATID=595

$159 for a single monoblock - pushes 240Wrms into 4ohm or 290Wrms into 2ohm. Fine for running a reasonable sized sub. Nothing fancy, but it will do the trick until you get something a little more expensive..

If i can find somebody else to buy one, only $143 each for 2+, or $127 if we can find 4+ people. You will have to pay me the $ before i go fetch, can mail it to you at your expense.

Easier if its in melbourne..

I'm in Melbourne. There is a store in Adelaide as well (and most states actually).

I was hoping to just buy at the same store and get the discount that way. I should probably speak to them and see whether they can spread it across states, so you can just go in and get one at the discount rate at your local store. I will find out!

It would be pointless buying from the same place and sending when i think about, as in thee end the postage charges would end up pretty much null the discount.

If its too much stuffing around, i may just go buy one, and kill this group thingo.

Here is their response regarding interstate..

To obtain the bulk pricing you would need to purchase all of the units in one location and one transaction.

So looks like i would have to buy in Melbourne or post off to interstate, making this more attractive to people in Melbourne only unfortunately.

hmmm, to be honest I couldn't tell you as i don't have one (yet) But i have heard they are pretty well regarded for what they are, and usually the jaycar/response amps are 2-3x times less than what the equivelent bigger brand name amps such as kenwood, Sony, etc with similar quality. I doubt it would be up to something like an Alpine, Fusion, or the like - but then again their bottom range ones are twice as much.

For that price, if its not up to scratch then you can always buy a better one later on.

  • 4 weeks later...

Um, this is long closed, just so nobody tries to get in. I picked up the amps last friday..

RayT, you need to contact me to organise so I can send you yours..

    • You should have got a Maine Coone then. Only thing is they're big. But so cool, and just like a dog. Or, just get yourself a high performance dog. That'll teach you for wanting Parkour indoors 😛
    • Are you thinking of Bens R32? I don't remember if his went through the bonnet itself, but it went through the chassis rail. Brad (RISKIN) bought it, and turned it into a track car. It's funny how anti people are of Jim Berry now. I remember when I pulled mine out (during an engine change) and inspected it and found it cracking badly. At that point in time so many people were even on SAU, were so pro Jim Berry, and that was after Bens GTR exploded his quite publically.
    • That's one of the reasons I got that breed, they look weird, the other reasons are they small, they are very vocal, and run around like they are on crack, I didn't want a breed that just sits around, these two are like kids on red cordial  My daughter has one, and it's a laugh riot, constantly doing Parkour around the house, sits on her shoulder, plays catch, and constantly runs around the house taking turns chasing the dog around, her Bermese though, just lays around with constant bitch face, and just looks on in utter disgust at the cat and dog playing together
    • I'm getting PTSD flashbacks seeing that name again.  With my turbo swift, I got 1,500km of street use on a Jim Berry clutch before it exploded and took out my input shaft with it.
