well what a day.... not many skylines but still the usual influx of Honda S2000's, NSX, Clubsport VX, S15 afew Porsches and a nice Cobra !

Highlight of the day would of had to been the Porsche GT3 (proper race car) smashing into the wall at turn 1.

He was on his 2nd or 3rd lap of the session travelling down the right hand side of the main straight (as you do), got the back right tyre out onto the grass in the braking area, tapped the brakes and then next thing I know he's heading straight towards me (im standing on the pit wall). He managed to spin it a full 180 (all whilst doing ~200km/h) then *smack* straight into the very end of the main straight wall, then slid backwards thru the middle of turn 1 and came to rest on the grass just before the big sand pit. Lucky it was a left hand drive car otherwise im sure he would have been taken away in the ambulance.

I was talking to him in the pits 2mins before he went out on that session. He only picked the car up last Saturday and came out today to get familar with the car (Ex Jim Richards Porsche Cup car - still had "Richards" plastered all over it).

Bit of a bummer when he got it back in the pits (on the back of a tilt tray), the entire right side was all smashed in, musta bent the chassis for sure.

Yea Benm,,,what a day....4 Lines on the Track and one nasty prang in T1,,,. Low numbers but less traffic,so I wasn't upset.

OzGTR,,,,Loves the new snails and ran hard running default pfc settings. Interesting indeed,,,I should have used my new one.

White R34GTT,,,,looked like he loved his day,,,Ran very hard ALL day.

Sideways,,,,Ummm very quick car but Lack of Brakes in T2 (thats not a comment made by me).

Us,,,, I scared the crap out of Mel in 1st session. Highlight for us was chucking the keys at Rod Markland and sitting in the passenger seat. He drives a car so much differently to Dan & Duncan. Pity it was SO hot out there,,,the car got hot after 5 laps and spoiled picking on Rexxies.

Oh Duncan,,,love your tyre pressures buddy,,,,41 Hot is spot on. THANKS A TON. Ha Ha,,,made me look like a pro pulling in after 2 laps for adjustments.

Neil.

yes, what a day..

I never drive hard as more then my heart can handle (well, granny type of driving..LOL), so I never really run out my brake, but guess what happen, my brake front fad..and almost lost in T2...but Rod was on driver seat and he handle the situation well, and steered the car back to track...after came back to pit..we notice he just use my last bit of brake..the DBA slot and drill just had my stock pad for lunch..so I am looking for some rb pads now...

The falken RT225 done a good job, very sticky..

:werd:

it must suck crashing your new racing porker on the fastest corner in Oz...

Duncan,,,We were standing on the Straight watching him,,,He got his right rear wheel on the grass at the 100 metre marker and I'll bett that was his braking point. Car does a 180 at what,,,say 240,,,maybe a lttle more,,,car goes into a 180, slams the wall on it's right-hand side just after the Motoconcepts Flag point and ends up on the outside of T1. Very big hit indeed.

Neil.

Yea Merli,,,lucky it's a left drive hey,,,,it slammed hard,,,but being a Porsche means he got out Lightly. Car was squared up on the right side,,but still damage has to be around 40 to 60 grand. Beginning of 3rd lap so his slicks should have been just about up to temp as well.

Neil.

What time did the porsch crash? I was out of their by 11.30, would love to have seen the slap! How long did it hold up the day for?

It was a fun morning, had the track almost to our selves.

The highlight of my day was the first Group A run, spanking that race V8 supper car down the straight and loosing him after 2 laps. After we came in he parked beside me and comes for a chat.

V8 "So what tyres are you running"

Me "45,000 Km old street tyres why"

V8 "Shit that thing goes all right!"

Me "Yeah, its just my company car, I have to drive it to work now"

He was not impressed!

It was a hot day Im glad I stopped before lunch, it was hard work on the body and the cars.

I hope to see you all there next time.

I think it met it's demise about 2.30,,,ended up being 20-30 minute delay.

Are you talking about that yellow falcon ?

They were using standard road tyres and I don't even think they got out of 3rd down the main straight. I was tempted to push them out of the drivers seat so I could give it a run... what a waste :D

The red / yellow one with the race numbers on it, he had slicks or semi slicks on in the first session. I dont know what he was doing, but yes it was a waist.

Thanks

    • @Murray_Calavera  If I were an expert I wouldn't be in here looking for assistance.  I am extremely computer literate, have above average understanding on how things should be working and how they should tie together.  If I need to go to a professional tuner so be it, but I'd much rather learn and do things myself even if it means looking for some guidance along the way and blowing up a few engines. @GTSBoy  I was hoping it would be as simple as a large vacuum leak somewhere but I'm unable to find anything, all lines seem to be well capped or going where they need to be, and when removed there is vacuum felt on the tube.  It would be odd for the Haltech built in MAP to be faulty, the GTT tune I imported had it enabled from the start, I incorrectly assumed it was reading a signal from the stock MAP, but that doesn't exist.  After running a vacuum hose to the ECU the signal doesn't change more than 0.2 in either direction.   I'll probably upload a video of my settings tomorrow, as it stands I'm able to daily drive, but getting stuttering when giving it gas from idle, so pulling away from lights is a slow process of revving it up and feathering the clutch until its moving, then it will accelerate fine.  It sounds like I need to get to the bottom of the manifold pressure issue, but the ignition timing section is most intimidating to me and will probably let a pro do that part.  Tomorrow I'll try a different vacuum line to T off of, with any luck I selected one that was already bypassed during the DBW swap. @feartherb26  I do have +T in the works but wanted to wait until Spring to start with that swap since this is my good winter AWD vehicle.  When removing the butterfly, did it leave a bunch of holes in the manifold that you needed to plug?  I thought about removing it but assumed it would be a mess.   I notice no difference when capping the vacuum line to it or letting it do its thing.  This whole thing has convinced me to just get a forward facing manifold when the time comes though.
    • Update: tested my spark plugs that are supposed to be 5ohms with a 10% deviation and one gave me a 0 ohms reading and the rest were 3.9ohm<, so one bad and the others on their way out.
    • 9" wheels are a little too wide for a RWD 32. They can fit. People have put R33 GTR wheels on 32s for years and years. But they are a very tight squeeze. This has been known for about 30 years. As I said - there is no difference between a 17 and an 18 in terms of what will fit. The rolling diameter needs to stay about the same as stock - not very much larger. If you increase that, you will start to have problems. If you increae rolling diamater at the same time as yo increase width, you will have problems earlier. as 9" wheels are pushing the boundaries already, you would need to be careful with tyre choice. I would put 8.5s on the front of mine, but would expect problems with 9s.

    • Diagnostic flow for a code 21 says check signal at the ECU pins, on a voltmeter of some kind it should read 0.1V at idle, 0.12V cranking, 0.15-0.25V at 2000 rpm. Check each coil such that +1, -3 is infinite or very high resistance, -3, +2 should do the same. (-1, +3), (+3, -2), (+1, -2), and (-1, +2) should all be somewhere between 0 ohms and high resistance. If you trace the path from the coil pin all the way back to the ECU in the diagram the resistance you measure at the coil vs connected to the harness should be pretty much the same.
