You all need to stop dreaming. Neither the media or the people that watch it are the slightest bit interested in showing car enthusiasts in a different light. 'Hoons' get the ratings because of the type of people that watch ACA/TT and whatever other 'news' show that pushes out the same shit that they do.

he's actually lucky he got off so well...ive spoken to a guy as got 3 points per p plate not displayed...and thats your p's suspended given they only get six points. ouch.

P platers start off with 5 points ;)

and I'm down to 3 lol

harsh. We had six in my day. you know. when p plate law wasnt shit.

i had 12 in my day, still lost all of them in the 3 yrs tho, added up all the points i have lost in my driving history, it adds up to 69 but it may be another 12, cant remember.

thats alot of points you have lost, but a good number, 69 lol :D .

am i the only one that has lost one point and that was 3 years ago before i had a skyline, only ever got 1 speeding ticket for doing 5km/h over the speed limit and thats it. im a good boy :) .

LOL... 5 points. You youngsters are doin it tough.

Yeah and I'm on my greens. It's even tougher with the new red P's, coz I think if you get caught speeding twice, even if it's 1 point each, then you get your P's extended for 1 year lol

I've been driving for four years and i've never lost a point. Despite being:

a) Caught driving at 105km/h in a 70 zone.

b) Caught talking on mobile phone and not displaying p plate on the rear (driving a convertible)

c) Other assorted scallywag behaviour

Not proud of the above actions at all, but still, never lost a point.

i got 1 point for doing 62 on a 60 road, that was in september, what a way to start the day eh.

and it was an unmarked car, early in the morning, as i was heading to boxhill to get some groceries, i just left my home, and i saw this flash and the whole day was just =(

Still 3 points for not displaying Ps seems pretty harsh to me, I mean that rivals some speeding fines & I don't see how you are more dangerous on the road without your Ps on compared to if you are speeding.

& 5 or 6 points on your Ps? You eastern people have it tough. WA still have the old 12 point system for Ps & no car resctrion! :D

I'll be finishing off my Ps this early Nov & I have just received my free 1st year full license for being a safe & responsible driver with no traffic offences to date...

The government & coppers recokens I'm a good boy

I should've lost 1 point before i had my skyline, 110 in a 100 zone in my old N16 Pulsar...dad took the point for me however.

VicRoads think that about me too because of the above...innocence is bliss perhaps?

your points come back...one a year i think? dont quote me on that. but yeah basically 12 months of no fines = 1 point back, for example. so if you get it back, then lose it again, or lose your licence a couple times...etc...itll rack up.

And some of these boys have more than a few years of having a licence under their belt to lose points in :D make sense?

Demerit points are valid for 3 years from the date of the offence.

You accumulate demerit points, so if you're on your full license, and you accumulate 12 points within a 3 year period then you'll lose your license (or be given the option of good behaviour).

If you're on your P's and you accumulate 5 points within a 12 month period OR 12 points within a 3 year period, then same again.

I'm down to my final point so I'm holding myself back until October 27 because that was my first offence when I was 19 and it was worth 3 points haha. I need to build up a buffer again haha

That does not sound right, i believe P platers only get 5 points for 3 years, once your off your P's you 12 points for 3 years.

Nah, I think UnCo is right, 5 points per year and 12 points for 3 years.

Demerit point offence notification

If you commit an offence which carries demerit points, VicRoads will send you a letter which lists how many demerit points you have accumulated and the details of the offence(s).

If you:

* have a full driver licence and get 12 or more demerit points in any 3 year period; or

* have a learner permit or probationary driver licence and you get 5 or more demerit points in any 12 month period or you get 12 or more demerit points in any 3 year period,

Ouch! I can't remember when the point system was introduced, but I am pretty sure they didn't even have demerit points when I first got my P's, those were the days... no one even knew what an R32 was, except the "pack of arseholes" watching Bathurst :D

    • Hi GTSBoy, Excuse my ignorance but what does a "Bad" Knee point mean ?
    • HFM BM57 has a "bad" knee point, IIRC. It's not the same thing as the later R chassis MC.
    • The ATTESSA is functionally identical to R34; there were a bunch of JDM models that continued ATTESSA including Fuga/Q70, Skyline/Q50, Cima etc as an option. All with Auto only and I think mostly for snow regions. AFAIK there were no AWD VR30DDTT sold in Australia - it is on my to do list to check regs for racing a LHD car in Targa/ATR/AASA/CAMS events because if I can get the auto to work it would be interesting to run a 4wd car The Ecuteck TCM tuning is the same model as their ECU tuning, they already have it for R35 and Dose's favourite, BMW. You buy "points" to allow your computer to be tuned, buy either a bluetooth (phone app) or bluetooth+USB+Key (phone and PC) dongle, and pay for a tune that will be locked to your tuner ( ). You can also access the tuning software yourself but 1. it is mega expensive and 2. these computers have a billion parameters that intersect, so how could you ever spend enough time on it to get a decent result.
    • Or, is it a case of what it is like owning an R series Skyline? NFI what the previous owner has done or fiddled with... Ha ha ha After reading through this thread, I went on a bit of a research about the Q50/Q60. Now I'm quite intrigued by them! Is the AWD in them more like a WRX where it's always AWD, or is it more like the ATTESSA in the GTRs? By the sound of this TCU tuning, this sounds like a case of someone has made some real software for it, and you just need the right piece of hardware, and then you license that specific vehicle/TCU. Or is this a case of the software will be really expensive so only a few tuners have it, and you still have to pay a license per vehicle?
    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
