Folks,

I just bought an Iphone, the old 8gb 3g (brand new). Its locked to a net work and i want to use my TPG sim card. I went on google, youtube and to my supprise there are so many tutorials, so many software that claim to be able to unlock the Iphone but really, which one?

There were this one called ZiPhone, claimed to unlock/jail-break....all in one but it didnt' work  .

Most of you guys are in the IT industry, there is a good chance that you've done it before :( .

Thanks

You will need to Jailbreak the phone (means cracking the iphone os so you can install 3rd party apps)

Assuming you have it updated to 3.1 you will need to download Yellow sn0w in cydia app reboot the phone and whack in your TPG sim card and you're unlocked to any network.

will take about 30mins to do the whole process

if you don't know how to do it there's heaps of tout's that can help you if you don't understand the tout well then i guess you shouldn't be doing it.

Link to Redsnow is down , i upgraded mine to 3.1 so now i can't use the older programe to jail-break it....! It wouldn't let me re-store it to the standard version 2.2.1 either bastards.

I think you've got it wrong here, anything at 3.1, base band/modern firmware will be anything but base band 02.28.00 and its not un-lock able yet.

Jailbreak for 3.1.2 has just been released as of yesterday.

Blackra1n made by the same guy that made Purplera1n.

Instructions here.

Took me a good hour or so (noob with none it background) and its now jail broken  ......still i can't unlock the fking thing anyway .

    • I downloaded the apps (for windows) and Consult 1 doesn't have this function on it for the Consult 1 plug which I'm pretty sure all Skylines have. You would think someone would have a workaround after 30 years for all Skylines which have ABS.
    • Also, I don't know the actual ABS system on the skylines, but a sneaky thing could be a piece of electronic equipment that makes the ABS think you're moving, and then same piece can send a signal for a locked up tyre... Activate ABS without slamming brakes...
    • The team at OBD2 Australia are pretty good, shoot them an email and ask them. I've dealt with them before for work stuff. I'd be shocked if it didn't work, so long as Consult can activate the ABS. But you might need to use KLine for it which would be the stopper, as I don't think that piece does KLine comms.
    • Yeah and hence my ghetto way of slamming the brakes, get the ABS to cycle, rebleed seems to be a sensible workaround.
    • Hey! Happy to help. Nothing inherently wrong with the adapter, it's more so with Brett Collins himself. He gave me a lot of incorrect information when I was in contact with him and was extremely rude when I challenged him. He stated I could not use any aftermarket twin plate clutches except for his own, not to use the dush shield, bla bla bla and it was all BS.  Collins stated to cut roughly 14mm's off the housing, I took off 15mm to make room for the dust shield. I would confirm with whatever adapter manufacturer you're using.
