Hey all,

Powercruise 2009 is coming to Perth this weekend, so I'll be there for most of the weekend as pit crew for my mates. Anyway, I want to take my camera and take as many photos as I can. Because I'm only starting however, I was hoping you could give me some tips for those conditions.

Bright daylight

Night time

Action shots

Lots of smoke

Far distance

I have a Cannon 1000D body with an 18-55mm lens. Not the best reach, but i can always crop and enlarge if its good enough quality.

Is the subject going to be still?

If so just use a tripod for night time with a long exposure.

Action shots - Day time or night time? If night time your lens will be hopeless. If day time - set your camera to tv mode and set the shutter speed between 1/60-1/250th. Depending on how much motion you want adjust to your liking.

But honestly since its your first time just experiment. Go have some fun :P

Before you do go, just remember what apeture, shutter speed, iso etc etc means.. and how to change them depending on the condition.

Could give you a uber huge lecture on everything but i will tell you what i tell other people who take there camera's out for the first few times.

Just go out there, shoot pictures, capture the moments and have fun. Doesn't matter if its green box mode or M, everyone i've lectured worried so much about there shutter speed/iso/aperture and couldn't remember what did what and ended up missing heaps of stuff because they were snapping away and saw a great moment and they missed it because there settings weren't correct.

Over time, the settings will come too you, and you will know what you want. Just enjoy the day and take some pics, that's what it's all about!

But if you want settings, as Sidd said and Goldzilla, focus on shutter speed/ISO/aperture.

Since you're a beginner I'll suggest:

Bright daylight - Auto

Night time - Auto

Action shots: freeze the moment - Sports

Action shots: blurry background - Shutter Priority (Tv) using 1/250

Lots of smoke - Auto

Far distance - Auto

As long as there is petrol in the ground there will always be shows like Powercruise.

This means that you should take the kit you've got and learn from it, learn about what you can and can't do while you're out there. Obviously in-field shooting is going to be a waste of time with the 18-55mm lens but you can still do stuff in the pits and shoot cars from the pit wall on the straight. :whistling: Don't forget that if you do decide to buy a long lens or anything else that it must also be usable outside Powercruise. I have a 70-200mm F2.8L which not only gets used for Powercruise it also gets used for studio work and wedding gigs. :D

except they refine crude oil to make petroleum (and other fuels etc). it doesnt come straight from the ground lol

      What brakes on R34 GTT(Europe)

      The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.

      Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.

      Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.

Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
