I am currently rebuilding my DR30 and need advice on a couple of things

*Does anyone in Aus have replacement driveshaft or someone that rebuilds or exchanges them

*Im looking for a turbo that will bolt to the standard manifold and by able to support 300 -350 atw hp

*Also what size injector would be required

*Does anyone make a patch loom for a aftermarket comp for the FJ

*Does the car sit very low when swapping to S13 coilovers in the rear

*Who is the best nissan dealer in qld to see about getting part nissan japan

any help would be great

robert

are you referring to the gearbox to diff? or the diff to wheels?

if diff to wheels, the shafts from a Z31 300zxt are bulletproof (from import wrecker) also plenty of custom places can make them, also the subaru WRX gear is VERY similar and can be adapted with some research or experience

GCG make some of the best turbos available, and can pur something together to suit the stock manifold bolt pattern with your choice of front housing and turbo trim

somr GTR 440cc injectors should be alright, normally take the total HP aimed for and add 20% and it gives you the MINIMUM cc's... very basic guide

Adaptronic make an excellent ECU, is aussie made, and hass all the features of a $3000 motec or similar. but a shitload more affordable (like $1500 tuned and installed) I can point you in the right direction of someone who has one, they may be interested in getting the tune copied as a basepoint

S13 coilivers should get some that are height adjustable, problem solved

There arent any R30 parts specialists in australia, but importmonster have some good links to yahoo japan, you can get HEAPS of good stuff

SSS in Sydney accasionally bring in a frontcut or 2

Depending on what's wrong with your own half shafts, just about any CV repairer can do them. If it's just the boots gone, just replace them with a/mkt replacements.

As Mag's says, the Z31 Turbo or HR31 half shafts are the ants pants, but they are nearly as hard to find as rockin horse sh!t. I just purchased a set for 35000 yen for my track DR and with freight into Melbourne warehouse they will cost me a tad under $800.00. But, it's not just a simple swap, the inner flange needs to be changed as well, meaning an rebuild of the rear trailing arm, but once this is done, you will never break another half shaft.

Turbo's ........... well these are just about anything goes, but for 300+ rwhp you could get an VG30 hi flow, or an GT3082 or similar. The first thing you have to decide is what your going to do with the 300+ HP, are you going to drag it or track it, because turbos are different to what purpose you want it for. I just bought a custom Billet D-GT2 for my track DR from Mr Turbo in Queensland and it's relatively small due to response required. If your going to drag it, then lag isn't a problem, but on the track, you want as little as possible.

Injectors ........... to support 300/350 comfortably your going to need about 550cc & I have 4 that have been cleaned & flowed from an S4 RX7 low imp plus 3 not done. You can have the 7 for $250.00. 440cc as Mag suggests will do the job but the duty cycle will be getting up there.

I am running an Adaptronics on my DR30 and it appears to work really good so far. May I suggest you do a search on their web site for an installer/tuner in your local area if that's the way you choose to go, but get a new ECU, don't screw about with copgy back ideas.

As for DR/HR import parts ............ good luck, as they are getting very thin on the ground in Japan. SSS can't get enough of them and between Stewart Wilkins and myself, we buy everything they can get their hands on. We are both looking to the US but haven't had any success as yet.

Cheers, D

Hey Dennis

for a road car whats a good (next one up) from the Vg30 that has the nissan flange? my Vg30 is leaking oil from the front cover, and id like to go a bit bigger giving me tuneability for future mods. i dont mind lag.. infact i kinda like it haha

was thinking about the factory turbos of things like the Gts25t or such??

No I haven't, but I don't have 450hp and really don't think I need it for my fun toy. I have changed the diff ratio to 4.11 and think I'll have more than enough punch on the tracks I have available. Eastern Creek I'll change to a 3.7, but for Wakefield & Winton I think I'll be fine.

If I send you over a rocker cover, can you get it done in the same magic red colour as the manifold?

Cheers, D

Marc,

I have an R34 NEO turbo for my new L28et, but I'm not chasing masses of HP either. With 380cc injectors & relatively high compression, I'm trying to get torque as opposed to HP.

I do have an VG30 hi flow, but am reluctant to part with it for now, but I think they are the best of the factory options and they can be sourced for about $300.00. As it has been suggested the HKS T04E would be fun, but again, anything with the HKS logo is expensive. There are all sorts of combinations available with a T03 mount, just be careful not to buy a T70 Chinese model that does not spool up at all.

Cheers, D

    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
    • Can I suggest you try EBC directly again and link them to as many competitor catalogues as you can to show their listing is incorrect, eg https://dba.com.au/product/front-4000-series-hd-brake-rotor-dba42304/ If you have access to an R33 GTST VIN and your VIN, you could also use a Nissan Parts lookup like Amayama to show them the part number is different between 33 GTST and 34 GTT which may get their attention
    • So i got reply from EBC and they just this site where you can clearly see those 296mm fronts on R34 GTT. I send them photos and "quotes" that 296mm are not for 34 GTT and they are too small. But it will be very hard to return them cuz nobody here knows 100% and they just copy those EBC catalogue :-D https://ebcbrakesdirect.com/automotive/nissan/skyline-r34
    • Hi, is the HKS  Tower Bar still available ? negotiable ? 🤔
    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
