i personally wouldnt be so keen to buy something off the jap auctions, but import monster and similar are good as you can see the things there in person check for rash and so on then make a decision..auction items are to "buyer beware" for that much money imo

if u dont mind waiting a bit to get exactly what u want, then use streeter, he is the cheapest broker around, he can use EMS (around a week) or shipping which is around a month i think. then u get to choose from anything on the jap auctions and get it for nothing.

Thanks mate , do you have a link for streeter ?

Dude, that's not flaming. That's not even a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel.

Well feel free to call it what you want ....... my point was still made. I suppose to some extent I have now been enlightened in regard to at least one word in the repertoire of keyboard warrior terminology :)

Ha, I'll pay your comment about biomatter on second hand jewellery - one wonders where that line of reasoning stops....used sex toys??

BASHO - I can weigh a 17x8 Drift Tek but it will include the weight of a 235x45x17 RE55 if that is any help to you??

the problem i find is, people dont want to be told what they have bought is cheap low quality gear

I'd agree with you there. Some people delude themselves into thinking they're buying good shit just because they bought it. I don't know if its because they're insecure and need to make themselves look discerning, or whether the bar lowering mentality that so many plebs have these days are actually seeping into the enthusiast circles.

People need to harden the f**k up, and deal with reality. If you're buying stuff that's cheap and of low quality, then face facts.

I wanted to put Drifteks on the SW20. My requirements were:

* Strong enough to survive Sydney roads

* Look good

* Cheap

The Drifteks meet those requirements. The SW20 won't ever hit the track, let alone hop curbs or chase tenths, so the high weight and their potential inability to take repeated high load abuse is irrelevant. I wouldn't go around saying they're good quality sports wheel, but they are a good looking commuter/cruiser wheel.

um, you're the one that used the word, you just called yourself a keyboard warrior.

f**k i dont even need to launch a defense, you seem to be doing a good enough job of insulting urself.

exactly, i dont mind when people know what they are buying is cheap and are unashamed by it, but when people say stuff like "genuine drift teks" it makes me die a little inside.

wow this thread got out of hand didn't it :/.

to op...how much are u getting ur drift teks for? i suggest get the rotas from the guys in upgarage in syd.

17x9 +25 all round for 1,250 delivered which look pretty tame on your car.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Rota-P45R-17x9-whee...=item45ef163a6d

but if ur prepared to roll and lip if your low then get the 17x9.5 +12 for a couple extra bucks. i think these weigh a tad over 10kg according to some sources.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Rota-P45R-17x9-5-wh...=item45ef16351f

or u can get 18x9.5 +12 for a tad bit more :)

or you can jsut get some work meisters from japan and laugh.

also, in the offsets you are looking at, its not worth getting a jap rim for looks, as they are gonna look shit anyway.

go much bigger (wider) dude... and you'll be happier

for street duties drifteks will do you fine :(

when people say stuff like "genuine drift teks" it makes me die a little inside.

It cracks me up a bit when people make replicas of replicas.

I remember back when Hybrid was the one making the knock-off intercoolers that copied JDM designs, that people only bought on a budget. A year or two ago I saw "replica Hybrid" kits on eBay. The rolleyes I made at people making a copy of a copy was monumental, and also made me more than a little depressed about the state of humanity.

What's next? A Chinese car "inspired" by the Kia Rio Sport-Pac?

um, you're the one that used the word, you just called yourself a keyboard warrior.

No I didn't, but then again comprehension levels beyond year 5 are not your forte........

f**k i dont even need to launch a defense, you seem to be doing a good enough job of insulting urself.

Well you haven't launched much of a defense so far, not that I was expecting too much - as I said, you'd never make a good litigation lawyer - word of advice, if you ever end up in court don;t represent yourself. All said and done, you've done a pretty good hatchet-job on yourself - not too bbbright aaaare yaaas?

PS I think this saying was penned for you "Never argue with an Idiot, they'll bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience".

there's nothing to defend, u just came in, called me bias, said i had an issue with rotas and left it at that.

oh no! you got me, i hate cheap shit, i surrender to your flawless argument.

what do u want me to argue? that i dont think cheap shit is cheap shit?

lets all get some lovin' happening and just go onto ns and watch nisskids drift videos :)

:(

nope just me?

in regard to at least one word in the repertoire of keyboard warrior terminology :(
This is the same reason why you got flamed in the Rota thread

if u cant figure this out there truly is no hope.

you said flaming was a word in the repertoire of keyboard warrior terminology, you're the one that used the word, 1 + 1 = 2

    • You are selling this? I have never bought something from marketplace...i dont know if i trust that enough. And the price is little bit "too" good...

    • It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about. Reliability of everything in a 34 drops MASSIVELY above the 300kw mark. Keeping everything going great at beyond that value will cost ten times the $. Clutches become shit, gearboxes (and engines/bottom ends) become consumable, traction becomes crap. The good news is looking legalish/actually being legal is slighly under the 300kw mark. I would make the assumption you want to ditch the stock plenum too and want to go a front facing unit of some description due to the cross flow. Do the bends on a return flow hurt? Not really. A couple of bends do make a difference but not nearly as much in a forced induction situation. Add 1psi of boost to overcome it. Nobody has ever gone and done a track session monitoring IAT then done a different session on a different intercooler and monitored IAT to see the difference here. All of the benefits here are likely in the "My engine is a forged consumable that I drive once a year because it needs a rebuild every year which takes 9 months of the year to complete" territory. It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about with this car.
    • By "reverse flow", do you mean "return flow"? Being the IC having a return pipe back behind the bumper reo, or similar? If so... I am currently making ~250 rwkW on a Neo at ~17-18 psi. With a return flow. There's nothing to indicate that it is costing me a lot of power at this level, and I would be surprised if I could not push it harder. True, I have not measured pressure drop across it or IAT changes, but the car does not seem upset about it in any way. I won't be bothering to look into it unless it starts giving trouble or doesn't respond to boost increases when I next put it on the dyno. FWIW, it was tuned with the boost controller off, so achieving ~15-16 psi on the wastegate spring alone, and it is noticeably quicker with the boost controller on and yielding a couple of extra pounds. Hence why I think it is doing OK. So, no, I would not arbitrarily say that return flows are restrictive. Yes, they are certainly restrictive if you're aiming for higher power levels. But I also think that the happy place for a street car is <300 rwkW anyway, so I'm not going to be aiming for power levels that would require me to change the inlet pipework. My car looks very stock, even though everything is different. The turbo and inlet pipes all look stock and run in the stock locations, The airbox looks stock (apart from the inlet being opened up). The turbo looks stock, because it's in the stock location, is the stock housings and can't really be seen anyway. It makes enough power to be good to drive, but won't raise eyebrows if I ever f**k up enough for the cops to lift the bonnet.
    • There is a guy who said he can weld me piping without having to cut chassis, maybe I do that ? Or do I just go reverse flow but isn’t reverse flow very limited once again?
