Hi guys,

Looking to get an aftermarket bonnet and front bumper for a R33 series 2.

I've checked out CarMate, but heard they don't have the best reputation. Where should I be looking at to get these parts from?

I'm not sure exactly what bonnet or bumper I want yet, was just checking out what's around.

I'm on the Gold Coast, QLD if that helps, but happy to pay postage. I guess I just want the right balance of price and quality :)

Thanks,

Isaac

Unfortunately there just aren't as many good bodykit manufacturers these days. We back all our own products, however if we do not have it in stock, we will have to source it elsewhere. We would have loved to stay more and more in the bodykit business but we are slowly moving towards being the biggest carbon fibre supplier in the country.

Hey mate,

I've bought a few things from you in the past - very happy with the quality. However, like you say, a lot of replica bodykit providers nowadays make very poor quality Fiberglass copies. This is why there are not alot of places that do them anymore.

However, I think if you cannot find a good bodykit manufacturer that produces good quality kits, then I suggest you don't stock them anymore. However, PSI parts have always provided good quality items so I know this is not your intention.

We are having a final run out clearance of the bodykit stock we have (note that we only stock products that we make) and from then on we will be focusing on the Carbon products as discussed above. We have sourced local products from customers mainly as a fulfilment service, as far as the quality goes some good and some not so good. However we do the hard work behind the scenes to ensure that the fitment is reasonable and if not, we take the issue up with the supplier so the customer isn't left on their own. Which is obviously (maybe not to some) the least we can do since we took the sale.

We always appreciate feedback too, which I believe is one of our strong points. We listen to our customers and will do all we can to ensure you guys are happy.

Very true mate...and I can certainly vouch for you...so you're having a clearance sale? Got a ad on here for what you're clearing out - if so, can you provide us with a link?

I'm keen to see what you got going.

Thanks.

Kevin

Im lookin at replacin my bodykit, i have stuffed it up just a lil (please do not ask how lol)..Anyways my bodykit is from CarMate (last i looked my car is still used as a model for the kit) But wouldnt get one from there again personally.....I too have heard carmate bodykits r made not right 4 skylines off a few people nd there not so great??? I also have been to jetspeed to check there kits out, but no matter where i go i hear negative feedbak off ppl about every place i go to??? so who knows?? id like 2 c if a few more places get mentioned since im looking 4 places 2. Good luck :)

And I will beat DMD and any one else!

Mate, get a trader's license and post up some items mate...I'm very interested in what you got and your competitive edge certainly can only help!

Cheers.

Kevin

From personal experience as my parts are sourced all over the place:

Carmate: Can agree with Pinkcess as I had the same MST Style rear bar as them, fitment was WAY off on rears, the front bar sagged badly under the headlights as I could my fingers through the gap it was so big.

PSI Parts: Good quality, ESPECIALLY on carbon products would go nowhere else but them...only got fibreglass skirts so not 100% on quality of front/rears, this is no offence to shane cause everything he has supplied is squeaky clean

Jetspeed: Bought my new rear bar straight up fitment of my 400R rear bar. Didn't have the front bar I wanted, had it made within 5 days I think it was, so quick response time

DMD: Have heard good things but personally don't know myself however

Vivagarage: They are in S.A so probably to far anyway, but have heard can be thin layers of f/g and therefore can crack and have problems

These are the main ones alot of people use overall:

Fibreglass Bodykits:

Jetspeed: For easy fitment with minor tweak work and decent prices (Based in Melb & Syd)

DMD: Slightly higher prices but from what I hear good fitments, not sure if always products in stock (Based in Queensland)

Carmate: Cheap and get what you pay for and need ALOT of work, (Based Sydney in Villawood)

Viva Garage: Average prices, mid quality as stated on products that I've heard (Based in S.A)

Carbon:

PSI Parts: 100% recommend super cheap prices and ALL carbon products

    • Power steering is probably because someone has nuked the HICAS CU and you no longer have the variable power asist doing what it is supposed to. How much boost are you running? You are aware that any more than 10 psi on the stock ECU is just asking for it to go to full R&R (that's Rich & Retard, which is effectively Retarded and Retarded!) which kills all the power. Depending on the exact conditions, it can just be runnign on the fat and stupid end of the maps, then the conditions change, you make a little more boost and the ECU goes into panic.
    • @BuiltNotBought Just as GTSboy said.   If you want driveabilty and more low down torque..keep the stock runners. They are VERY good from a factory. I have them too on my RB25DET NEO and as a GTSboy i have fmic but with stock piping route(i have Blitz intercooler) Iam making around 320 BHP and the car pulls "hard" from like 2,5k all the way to 7k. I have it dyno tuned to mimic N/A power curve and making little less max torque due to the smallbox tranny. But driveability is very great. I had 350Nm below 3k so car feels very quick.
    • Looking to sort out a couple of issues on my skyline  It recently was rebuilt, however rebuilder long story short did not give two flying effs about the work he did. So moving forward it's running but I have two persistent issues 1) it has a misfire / lag type of issue (was at higher RPMs but I had a dead piggy back ecu removed which improved it) now it's not as bad but still does it at random, I thought it may have been a boost issue I'm running an older turbosmart dual stage controller, turbosmart told me to try running off gate pressure however it still has a lag at random times. It has New MAF, maf plug, coil packs, sparks, CP harness.. injectors tested and cleaned. Factory ECU. 2) Power steering issue. It is tight as anything. Flushed power steering, rebuilt my pump because the bearing was shot. Flushed again still tight (mainly when parking and going slow into my driveway etc)  No kinks in hard lines, replaced the lines I could see had cracks. Still tough to steer.  I was told to shim a coin and place into the solenoid plug? Is there anything else. My steering angle sensor also has a issue. It's a used one I replaced, does it need to be calibrated? I feel like I've tried everything and this car is my voodoo doll.
    • Holy shit... wow!!! I totally missed this
    • One main filter. Each tank has a prefilter to keep rocks and small children out, then the big main filter that also does water separation. Clogged the first one so bad it was like a rev limiter at 3200rpm. Literally just like dropping the throttle off and maintaining rpm!
