Meh, i would feel like a tool if i had someone drive my car in Clubsprint. It would be a bit like courting a girl for months, spending thousands on dinners, weekends away and gifts. Then when she takes her panties off and says " do nasty things to me..." you jump on the phone and get the Beer Baron in to deflower her for you.

Even if i got it horribly wrong the 8 or 9 times i tried i bet i would still be having more fun then if watching Beer Baron reap rewards for my hard work!

I'm the same, but to each their own I guess! I want to know how fast I can go in my car, not just how fast my car can go.

However if it were a car respresenting my business then I could definitely understand a ring in for the added exposure of doing well, especially if the business has something to do with motorsport.

If it's a shop/business/company that wants good exposure and a good result by having a gun driver brought in, then they can run in Open or Pro class.

Clubsprint class should enforce the rule of matching name on registration paper with driver name. If not so, then you go into Open class.

Thinking about it, I think the essence of this event is more focussed toward the vehicle, as opposed to the vehicle owner's pace.

I can understand if a workshop want to demonstrate the relative pace of their modifications on a road tyred street car to it's best by utilising a good ring in driver, given in most workshop cases there isn't one on staff.

I think trying to police whom is driving what can get very difficult by the time everyone is wearing a helmet.

geez did a 35 driver shit in your cereal or something... your not a fan!

remember its early days with 35 tuning... wait til there's 1000hp monsters 4 wheel powersliding around the track;)

kind of sorta did..

Sounds like this event isn't for you, I'm sure there are heaps of drift events around where you can get your 'fix'.

And far as you having no idea, we won't hold it against you..... :D

1. not at eastern creek theres not

2. i love superlap.. i missed it the first year, i absolutly loved it last year, and cant wait for this year.. i just mean from a spectator, watching people get so close to the limit and really pushing themselves and the car for that very best time is awesome.. i remember last year watching the red r32 gtr, i think it was a rigoli car, lay 2 thick black lines on every exit of the final turn onto the main straight... not smoky, full countersteer, sideways drift... but it was scrabbling for traction and just gently heading for the wall...

and seeing the hi octane r34 with wisps of smoke from the rear tyres coming up and over the hill... he could go no faster and push no harder, 110% effort

the r35s are too clean and clinical... and quiet.

hahahaha... right on... wheres the fun factor for the guys that pay others to do all the work to their car, then get someone else to drive it.... although, on the other hand... im open to taking your money to buy parts and fit them for you, then thrash your car around the track for you... more than happy... hell, ill even drive it for free...

Yeah, dead right there. I guess people will know and see who's driving the wheels off their car, whether they be a ring in pro or owner driver.

I find at the track if you lay down a good time, people come and find out a bit about you and the car.

I was actually talking shit as always. :( You would be stoopid to give me the keys anyway :(

The only way i could possibly afford it is if my mate calls off the wedding in Scotland which means my June-July trip to Europe with the car gets called off. No way i could afford the airfares back to Aus and event entry only 4 weeks before :D LOl I am actually canvassing mates who want to come on this car trip...but worst case i will pick up a cheap hooker in Amsterdam to keep me company...hell she could be my date for the wedding too :)

    • Will have a look at that. I cant see any leaks
    • Put another overflow bottle (ie, a 1.25 coke bottle or similar) under the overflow hose and see if it is being pushed out there or if it is disappearing into the engine.
    • Staring on a stand is no issue. You just have to wire everything up, give it fuel and cross your fingers that the stand is robust enough. Arranging the inlet plumbing is often the hardest part, without any surrounding structure to hand some of it from. No need for coolant if you only want to run it for <1 minute. As to the gearbox - I think the little Aisin box is a bit stronger than the other small Nissan boxes that went behind SRs, but I wouldn't be too keen to test its limits with the torque of a boosted 25. I don't know if you can retain the box and the tailshaft. The box won't connect to the RB without an adapter of some sort, which is either a plate that will push the engine forward (which is not good for fitting it into the bay's available space) or push the box back, which messes with the box position and tailshaft length - OR - cut and shut work on the bellhousing, which is a long way from "least modification". I'd be buying a new 370Z 6 speed or similar, doing what has to be done to that to make it fit RB (ie, cut and shut bellhousing) and the requisite tailshaft custom/mods.
    • Hi Everyone I am from West Pennant Hills in NSW. Been too busy until recently to attend to my RB25DET Series 2 engine until recently. I am planning to stick it into the S15 shell at this stage, unless a nice SR20DET turns up... For now, i am going to try and get the RB25 running and working well then decide what gearbox to use. My preference is to retain the SR20DET  6 speed gearbox and tail shaft to retain as much and least modifications as i can avoid. I am an old guy and won't be doing any heavy drifting so i don't need a bullet proof gearbox Does anyone have experience with starting the RB on a stand? I got everything setup as much as I can with the info i can find... endless searching and videos on Youtube I would be great to get some pointers Cheers Songo
    • Hey all, Recently have had my s1 r33 gtr serviced and noticed my coolant reservoir was topped up to the max line. Took the car out for 1 yesterday and noticed today the reservoir is completely empty.  Any ideas? Radiator is full
