I estimated the gate figures to be somewhere between 5 to 6k on the saturday, allowing for 2 people in the parked cars I counted. What you

guys reckon?

And thatnks for clearing up several points Baron, my weekend was a hazy one, and I was doing my best to keep the thread updated via my phone.

I heard that Ian got ripped with the crowd figures from Eastern Creek. I estimated the gate figures to be somewhere between 5 to 6k on the saturday, allowing for 2 people in the parked cars I counted.

No wonder they lost the V8's with that kind of carry on.

That would so suck if it were true marlin. I wonder what crowd figure they quoted him.

i think there might have been a lot of competitors, trade, media and other types of entrys that might have sku'd the numbers a little bit if you were looking at takings on the gate but i don't think high octaine were under any false sence that they were going to make money from the day. Hopefully it went some way to cover expences but i think not near close enough. Next year i doubt if it would be as big unless the international cars want to come over on there own accord as most of the interest was generatred by the overseas cars, as long as it gets more interest then some of the other forms of motorsport although i think you are kidding yourself with generating V8 super car numbers.

100% agree with that. My main criticism of the event was not enough on track time for pro-class. the thing is people come to see the pro cars run and they invest the most money to be there they deserve more track time. especially since the nature of the cars and the tyres mean they can only do 1 or 2 hot laps per 15min session. I would have liked to see the drift time cut way down and have at least 1 or 2 more pro class sessions on the saturday. maybe 1 more session and 1 'shoot-out'.

Definitely. It was the one thing i felt bitter about with the event. Seemed like i hardly saw the Pro class cars on the track; and i saw each session.

Nice post. Cool to hear some of the stories from behind the scenes. :P

dave :P

Awww wow :D but, but it's like one of my favourite GTRs ever!!!

I really hope this is due to bigger and better and I see you on the entry list next year!!!

P.s. Please take me for a hot lap before it goes??? :D

Fantastic event. Awesome cars, great trade displays, crazy aerobatics, it had it all.

Giant impressive effort from you and your crew to get your motor rebuilt in such a short time and then do a great time. Big well done to Lofty and Mark Berry to do PB,s. International cars were so fast though. Wide, light and BIG aero. Next year will be massive, let's keep pumpin this thing.

please continue to develop the Z as i have become a fan of it over the past 12 months. a friend of mine got some pics of it that i haddent seen on your web site. very good stuff.

you should have the Panspeed RX7 time as a benchmark, not setting the bar hight or anything.

no... thats not setting the bar high at all... mwhahaha... would be great to see the Z up there next year.

another superlap vid :D

Yep Rus getting there, big job lots of challenges with the dry sump we bought from USA made for left hand drive car.

DJRIFT send me link or pics would be good. Yes it will be ready for next year, under 1100kg, with more aero and carbon. Working on a mould to make dry carbon front bar, on the side, then front guards and rear quarters.

Panspeed times will be a difficult challenge.

Thanks anyway, but if it is just sitting there in back of pits nothing real exciting. I could go downstairs now and see it. I thought it may have been action shots from previous track days.

    • Hey keep the ideas coming, I'm always keen on projects! But, problem fixed!  I got a cheapie ozito scope from Bunnings and had a good look in and around the bearing and sensor hole. I couldn't see a smoking gun but the bearing looked a bit strange, especially when comparing with a new one. I thought the cover had come off the bearing magnets.  Sorry for pics of a screen, I didn't have an SD card.     Good thing I had the old one to inspect. So, given I'm like a pit crew with wheel bearings and luckily I had a spare bearing because I f**ked up my parts order, I decided to just smash it out. Got the old one out in about an hour. So much easier when the parts haven't had a chance to rust together yet. 😂 And, well, found the problem.    In the second pic at about the 8 o'clock position, you'll see what I think is the tip of the old sensor.  The new sensor has definitely been rubbing but it's all intact, just a little shiny so I'm hoping it's fine.  The car brakes perfectly now and no errors.  I think the job took about 2.5h in the end. 👍🏻 I really appreciate the help in here as usual. Thanks guys.
    • I was only looking because I saw some drops on the ground but it wasn't alot. Recently had it serviced will ask the mech to confirm. Find it strange that it looks standard though, can see in another photo of a random box
