Alright, just thought I had completed my Rb25 conversion. The car starts, runs and drives, but I have a couple issues.

1. Wiring. Thought I had completed the wiring using the MANY sources going round. However I have no accessories. No radio, parkers (have head lights), no tacho (have speedo), no dash lights etc. The only doubt I had about my wiring was not using the green eccs relay from the 32 loom. Did I need to? Antone know what the problem could be? Note, there was a large spark when connecting the battery, however there are no blown fuses.

2. Noises. The main one of concern is a screeching/whining coming from somewhere. Sounds like near the gearbox, possibly the starter motor. It was really bad when i first started it and became worse with the clutch in. I used my old rb20 box, clutch, flywheel and starter during the conversion. When I was swapping the flywheel and clutch across I was worried about being able to align it properly, however I did my best and was able to align it with the gearbox in the end, not sure if this is relevant at all.

I'm so tempted to give up on cars all together at the moment, the only thing keeping me going is the fact that when I was driving it the noises stopped and it pulled hard. Oh, and my wipers work :) lol. Please help me get this thing working!

btw, using a series 2 motor and loom and I didn't use either relay, not just eccs.

Another thing I though of; The thick white/purple wire from the plug near the air box I left unconnected since series 2's don't have a separate Power to IGN Coil relay, should it have been connected to something else instead?

Josh, I am certain you have blown your main 75A fuse. Look at it CLOSELY as it is often not easy to tell. My guess is when you put the battery feed onto the alternator you you have earthed it against the alternator. There should be a plastic cup which prevents the feed from the alternator earthing against itself. This sometimes comes off so double check. I am talking from experience!

The other noise you were referring to is hard to tell from what you have described but was the RB25 an auto and if so did you remove the auto spigot and replace with a manual spigot bearing?

OMG thank you! I don't know what I was thinking when I wired up the alternator, I had the cables in the wrong spot lol. Had been a long day. Everything works now! The noises have died down a bit now, I think I can suss out where there from.

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.   
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.

    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
