hey guys, i got defected a couple of weeks ago for my ride hight and boost controller. i went through regency and the guys defected me for a few more things.... now i have fixed everything but my battery. my battery is located in the boot of my car. there is a hose which is ment to conect to the side of the battery and dispose of any gasses the battery produces.... i have spent practicly all my money fixing everything else. so if anyone has any ideas or can lend me there battery for the morning (i am willing to give some money to borrow) i would very much apprecciate it... thanks

oh and just to make things difficult my appointment at regency is 11:20am thursday 26th...

I have a 550cca Sealed Battery i could lend you...its brand new, it is meant to go in my car, but i haven't got round to rewiring my + and - cables in the boot.

Omg... you are a legend!!!!!!! i live at christies beach... does it have the inlet which the hose is ment to connect to....? If so, if i give you $50 would you mind if i borrow it for about 2 hours just to pass regency????

I am at Aldinga, no it doesn't, it isn't needed as it is a sealed battery...as far as i am aware.

EDIT: Why not go to the Lonsdale Checking Station.

i tried to get into the lonsdale but they are full for the next three weeks... my car runs out of rego on friday so if i don't get it passed i'm screwed... i think my battery is a sealed one as well... i will check and get back to you tomorrow... cheers man!!! oh and i'm pritty sure i've seen ur car a fare bit... out the back of cash converters at noarlunga rite??? nice by the way!

Sealed batteries don't require the breather hose

yea thats what i keep hearing and thats what i thought... but the dude at regency said it has to by law.... although he was proberbly just trying to get me for everything....

cheers dude

Yup that's me, how did you know?

I haven't used the battery yet, so it may need a charge, i can drop it off tomorrow or Wednesday so you have time to charge it if need be.

Oh forgot to mention, the battery is a little bit taller then my current one, so my + & - leads don't connect to the battery, so it may not fit your car either.

the fully seal gel batteries like oddysey or optima are legal

"sealed" lead acid are not - these ones are called sealed since they dont require the addition/replacement/topup of fluid

Sealed Lead Acid Batteries

Sealed lead acid batteries are also known as valve regulated lead acid (VRLA) batteries, recombinant batteries and often called maintenance-free lead-acid batteries. Examples of VRLA batteries are:

Absorbed glass mat (or AGM)
Gel cells

The term term "seal lead acid battery" is misleading: a sealed battery would be a safety hazard due to overpressure risks the battery is overcharged. There is always a safety valve present, hence the name valve-regulated. Even the term "valve regulated" does not really describe this technology. These are really "recombinant" batteries. This means that oxygen evolved at the positive will mostly recombine with the hydrogen ready to evolve on the negative and thus prevent water loss. The valve is only a safety feature in case dangerous amounts of hydrogen are produced.

Well, that's what i have, so i am boned too...i went and bought it because i thought it was legal, as the battery i have atm is the standard maintenance type.

    • Thanks, will do that.  Thankfully they still feel great.
    • Yeah man, absolutely. You can try pushing me all the way in swapping the R34 for an E9x M3
    • It's almost certainly going to be some amount of pads compound transfer onto the rotors. It will probably go away after you've run them for a bit. If not, pull it all out, lightly sand the rotors, scuff the pads, and rebed.
    • no one recommending speedtek gearsets?   i'm in the same boat as Cosline but rwd, I am holding boost back in third to 600nm at the hubs to save the gear as i make nearly 750nm at the hubs on a mainline
