Fuel Pump - Bosch vs Walbro

Hey all,

what is a better pump to handle up to 200rwkw?

A Bosch 975 (228L/hr) or one of the Walbro Pumps (240l/hr)

I've heard the Walbro are meant to be a bit cheaper, quieter?

Any advice?

The GTR pump might be cheaper and would suit that application.

Walbro cheaper, quieter, and doesn't flow as much as is claimed under pressure. Go the Bosch, costs around the same as a second hand GTR pump but is brand new.

how loud are the bosch's?

are they annoyingly loud? or can you only hear them when starting the car? can you hear it while driving!

My 044 seems to vary. When cold it's very quiet, almost as silent as the factory pump. But as it heats up (dependant mostly on weather) it gets louder. I'm hoping it just needs to be "broken in" and it will gradually get quieter with usage. It's only done a couple of thousand km so far.

Either way a moderately loud stereo drowns it out completely, whether hot or cold.

I had 975 on my R33... I can hear it humming on traffic lights.... but cant hear it when I start driving. But I just had it on tonight. So not sure over time if it will get louder or quieter.

If you have an aftermarket exhaust you would be hard pressed to hear a Bosch - I wouldn't let it affect your decision to get one.

Whats the overall verdict on the Walbros? Are they cheap pieces of crap, or ok for reasonable setups as long as you take into account the flow being rated at non-boost pressure ?

Who is actually using them for good effect? Curious to know.

I'd say they're pretty decent. If the high flow version had been around when I got my 044 I probably would have gotten that instead. I'll never get over 300rwkw unless I win lotto.

I guess so. I had my tail silencer on for everyday use, that's why I hear it hums loud and clear. But i'm having a bit more annoying noise from the rattling fmic pipe as it seems to be touching the body where it went thru under the airbox.

Ive got a Walbro pump.

Have hard good reports on it. Apparently theres a few 180sx'x in teh U.S. using them with 400+Hp (at the motor). Im not there yet

And as for bosch pumps being louder, i wish mine was louder, it sounds heaps tough!
