Hi all i'm looking at purchasing an r34 gtt that hasn't yet been registered in australia,

i think it has been complied and it comes with a RWC.

What do i have to do/How can i make the registration process run smoothly?

Can anyone see any problems i might have when it comes time to registering it at vicroads?

Vehicle will have to be taken thru the "PITS" which will be exhausting, car has to be bone stock or with very very minimal mods that will not affect the overall driveability/handling.

Once you get a clearence from PITS you then go to VICRoads with you RWC + Pits Paperwork and they do another quick check over just to make some nothings sus, then the cars rego'd.

FYI if it has a RWC it will only last for 30days, then they expire and you need another.

If the car has been complied and has a RWC it should be pretty easy. You'll be required to take the compliance papers and RWC to Vic Roads, they'll do a visual on the car and provided it's stock and all ticks all the box's they'll register it. It's not that bigger deal, I've done 2 cars now.

Make sure you are 100% on the compliance though. Find out where it was done and make sure you get ALL the paperwork.

thanks for the responses.. i just spoke to the seller and apparently it's still in Japan atm..

he said it comes complied and rwc.

these are the mods currently on it;

after-market 17" wheels

exhaust

looks a little lowered, i don't know on what though

pod filter

bride drivers seat

turbo timer

provided import papers and compliance papers are OK, will i have a hard time registering it?

Who is the person selling it? Is it a well known importer or just some guy off the street?

From the info you've supplied it sounds a little dodgy.

Plus all the mods you've listed must be removed and replaced with stock items at compliance - and Vicroads will want to inspect the car in this state. My car got knocked back at it's first Vicroads inspection due to ride height, which I had to rectify and go back. Even with a RWC...

It's not hard to register a fresh import, but you need ALL of the paperwork. Import Approval Paperwork, Compliance Paperwork, Proof of Purchase, RWC and you need to book in the inspection in advance - see here: http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/Home/Regist...egistration.htm

oh...and more money. You'll be hit up for Vehicle Inspection fee, Rego, Motor Vehicle/Stamp Duty & Number Plates.

When I imported my old R33 2 years ago, I only took proof of purchase, RWC, compliance papers, import approval and just went down to vic roads, the lady didn't even look at the car twice apart from the engine and chassic number, so I guess it also depends on the person inspecting your car, to decide if you are going to have a hard time or not :P

And my initial rego fee was like $1001, as I said the car was $7000 :)

If the car is in Japan - then it has not been complied.

That is utterly impossible. Cars must be complianced by APPROVED Australian Engineers/Compliance sign off people etc.

More details on the car, who is selling (is it a workshop?)

I guess he means said person/workshop is organising it when it arrives.

yep thats what i meant, sorry i didnt make it clearer

I don't think i can wait another month and i have been looking at buying something a little cheaper so i'll still have money to play with.

I came across an r33 for sale now on the add it says manual with new clutch but when i did a FAST on the vin it says 4spd auto (AT.F4), even a manual r34 i was looking at came up as AT.F4 in FAST,

so whats the go here? other vins i tried from the "VINS you want FASTED" thread came up correct so it's not my version of FAST that's the problem.

Does it return AT.F4 if it doesn't have that info or something?? or does a manual conversion seem probable?

    • I have more than enough digging, laying blocks, moving gravel, airrating, feeding and top soiling the grass, and setting up the veggie gardens growing some seedlings,  and then removing all the unused rock to keep me busy for the next few months at least,  hopefully the rain stops soon so I can get a few hours in this arvo, but, before that Sunday is washing day, is every body happy, you bet your life we are Nice country road day drives are a day off whenever I'm muscle sore from all the landscaping at the moment, but, more epic multiple day drives will start once the majority of the big jobs outside are completed
    • I hear that would involve some nice country road drives into the hills for Mark...
    • I thought I'd come back and add something I JUST learned. A Toyota LandCruiser with a 1HZ, mates perfectly with a bottle of Nulon brake fluid. As in, it perfectly screws in. Great make shift funnel when you cut the bottom of it off. This may work for your Corolla.   Unfortunately, tipping a 10L drum is much harder than a 4 to 6L bottle, and they no longer include the easy pour tap which was just perfection to use previously.
    • Guys since i bought r33 gts25t coupe 1994 automatic a/t(manual swap 350z gearbox)  all i got is problems, always problems. Lets start with that when i turn key into ignition(ON) fuel pump doesnt always works. Sometimes i have to turn key twice Off/on/off/on until it primes. Its new, dw300 - 340lph. My gearbox broke so i did gearbox swap, install different intake manifold, injectors and i take pipes. Car was sitting in garage for more than half a year. I did assembly all not that long ago and when i turn ignition cant hear prime. All of sudden it stopped working. Theres many videos on YouTube how to make relay mod on r33 straight from battery so i did and it doesnt work! 😰 30 - battery positive  87 - positive from fuel pump to relay 85, 86 - one of two wires from original fuel pump wires(light blue, grey) and it didn’t work. so I check on ignition and took original BLUE relays wires from trunk, next to fuses. (I believe it’s IGN+ and ECU pin 18. it didn’t work…  tried connecting (IGN+ from og relay) and (ECU 104 from 1of4 FPCM wires) to my new relay 85/86 and it didn’t work.  I unplug FPCM. Didn’t work. im thinking what’s wrong   fuel pump is working, if I leave IGN+ on 85 and 86 straight to ground it works but it’s just nonstop. Since it getting constant 12v after key in ON. light blue wire gives me 6-8v.  so how this should be connected? What causing ECU not giving — on pin? Or I did sth wrong and that’s why it doesn’t work? I need negative signal on ECU that control fuel pump. What this should be?
    • You can use your VIN to look up the factory part number somewhere like amayama, and then look to order new if necessary. https://www.amayama.com/en/genuine-catalogs/nissan Depending on price you might want to rebuild instead. @GTSBoy I had an interesting insight into US market parts when the Titan rear calipers were sticking. New calipers were dirt cheap, about 20% more than a rebuild kit....they are just considered throw away maintenance items
