Well today turned out to be a black saturday for me today.

been to pick up some xmas pressies as we do and I took off from the lights sedatley got to 2nd i think and (no bang) rattle rattle loose oil pressure?

I was travelling about 30-40kmh and only about 100m or so from the lights and at first i thought i ran over a can on the road or something.

I am no mechanic but if seems bad.... Sheez I only had my timming belt, pullys, water pump done 3 or so weeks ago..

Anyway I have confirmed that my belt is still attached as I can see thru the oil cap when the car is in gear and see the lobes move when i rock the car back & forth. So where does this leave me broken piston conrod valves etc $$$$?

Car has done only 104k.

I was saving up to get the hiflow turbo serviced and put new seals in as it was starting to let oil thru under excelaration

So where do i go from here? and who car I take it too in the SE suburbs (Cranny, Dandenong areas)

I eventually had it towed back home as I was only 2km from base. was the longest drive home i had . Like a funeral march

Next doo neighbour (Nic the wog) says great now put all the big gear in as he starts up his v8 monaro only 10k. Unfortunately I am not that loaded so I need some advise how & where to start with this as is a daily driver not a race car had I think around 196rwkw

Need another drink!!!

>_<

ok so you said the timing belt, pulleys and pump were changed 3 weeks ago

ok so first thing is to check the state of those, do a visual inspection

can you see any damage on the belts, does you see any bits of metal shavings lying around?

what lights come on ? did you say oil pressure light? does the guage also show low oil pressure?

does it idle at all or even start? when it went bang (or no bang as you said) any smoke ? what colour?

and after all that speak to the place that did the belts etc and advise them something has failed

it could be their fault or it could be non related and a big conicedence, your best bet is to discuss with them

I havnt started to pull the cam belt cover off just yet...(just moping around in self pity...trying not to think about yet) I cant recall any lights coming on only that i totaly lost oil pressure. I turned it off straight away but its like when you put the key in your igition and all the light light up. there was no smoke either that i could visually see.

That car wont start now either...tick tick is all i get

Slightly pissed dazza

Hey mate you should talk to Ben call him on 0433270360 he built my car JETLNR and WYTJET and TOT747 which mate 475kw on pump at RE Customs dyno day last night which won the comp. He will look after you in price, tell him Jeremy with JETLNR told you to ring him and he knows skylines back to front man. Try him out I guarantee he won't dissapoint. He is also the best tuner and all of our cars have been going for ages and we havent broken a thing.

if the car wont start at all or even try and crank over id say the timing belt is toast

it may have failed then smashed all the valves etc

pull the cam belt cover off and inspect it visually

if (and only if) the belt has snapped id say its likely the workshop who did it may have made an error

we have seen it a few times in the past, due to error a part of the process is missed or skipped etc

the end result is the car runs with a new belt but it snaps shortly after

when the belt snaps as the engine is an interferance engine, it smashes all the valves etc (engine is toast)

talk to ben and he will help you out with all your issues mate.

Jetlnr,

I gave ben a call and will organise for him to have a look possibly friday. seems a nice bloke and was telling about the big power builds (well over 300rwkw) that he's been accross. Hopefully he can give me the lowdown on my condition and maybe just maybe build it on the cheapish

Thats for his headup though. will let you know how it goes post friday.

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
    • When you pulled it off, there is no signs of blown head gasket? Is it possible you have some other issues going on? Possible cracked blocked? Or do you think it's straight up lifting the head? Did you check what the head was torqued to before pulling it down (To see if possibly they're stretching, or starting to break threads out etc)?
    • Seems like a decent result for a modded JZX110. They are bulky in comparison to the 100 and 90 models (which I'd prefer myself) but they are getting very few and far between here in JP these days. Thanks for the detailed review and the import process into the UK. I also have a car which I'm hoping to export from Japan at some stage so it's good to know if someone from the UK was interested in it. By the way the corrosion underneath is par for the course for cars which were located in/near the mountains or along the Japan sea coastline. They get huge amounts of snow every winter and the sodium chloride is used on the roads. Many cars have some kind of rubber like treatment underneath but they tend to limit it to the wheel arches underbody and fuel tank. Suspension arms and sub-frames will have similar corrosion to your JZX110 which is a common sight. See it all the time and car dealers here generally don't even mention it unless asked.
    • If the sound goes away when you clutch in, the 1.5/2 way diffs are just shit, and you are a normal person. The diff is likely "fine" but driving at anything under 30kmh is a violent horrible experience. It would be exaggerated with solid diff bushings and subframe bushings if you have those.
