the bolt heads would be sealed with tamper-proof indicators

it's not as if they just trust the teams not to open 'em up

back when it didn't matter, Ferrari used to go through around 150 engines per season...

With budgets running to hundreds of millions of dollars, counterfeiting a few stickers and/or bolts would be trivial... :O

Hmm I wonder why "high mileage" Ferrari engines don't seem to blow up... :P Just saying...

( ok I know they did blow quite a few early on in the season hence their predicament... just stirring some sh&t :) )

Red Bull's dilemma continues as Sebastian Vettel remains the man to beat on track but Mark Webber, in his own words, inconveniently has more championship points. All the evidence suggests Vettel will again be quicker than Webber in Abu Dhabi, although he has promised to do what's best for the team, which could mean ceding position to his team-mate. But if he does so, the champagne on the podium will taste incredibly bitter as he thinks back to his seven pole position that didn't result in wins, the three 1-2 victories where he led Webber and, not least, that very costly accident in the sphincter of the universe.

hmmmm... would he really do that? Is it possible that vettel isn't a massive tool?

I highly doubt it.

Im starting to get a little nervous  Really looking forward to quali tonight!

I gotta say though, reading some of the tool's interviews, he keeps mentioning whats best for the 'team'

I reakon he will do the right thing if and when it is called for :)

is massa under threat for next season?

these guys keep going on about it

I can't see who would take his seat, Kubica is having Renault build their car around him, same with Vettel. Webber maybe? It would be interesting if Webber does go to Ferrari, that way we will have a yardstick to measure Vettel's talent vs Alonso.

Though, Massa's probably the kind of teammate Alonso wants, docile and whipped, unlike Hamilton. :)

Yeah the problem is he won't make the decision till the last lap, and if Alonso is right up Webber's bum it would be pointless.

I just hope nobody gets taken out... just a little *pop* from the Ferrari on lap 3 will do... :D :D Then Vettel can get the win, and Webber the WDC  EDIT: nm that doesn't work

Nope, MW needs both SV and FA to finish or both to crash/stop. He will almost be cheering on SV to run first for all but the last lap and FA for 3rd or 4th place.

The only other wildcard is if LH can hold 3rd then SV is free to turn his engine into a shower of sparks.

That's what I mean, even if it was Vettel, Webber and Alonso in that order on the last lap, if Alonso is too close to Webber, Vettel can't slot in between Webber and Alonso, so it would be pointless then to try and give Webs the win.

Oops sorry, I misunderstood the meaning of "pop".

Yeah I meant a Ferrari conrod fireworks display

Ironically MW's biggest threats are his best chance if they can circulate reliably....or catastrophically crash into each other.

Unfortunately for Webs, he's more likely to be tangling with Alonso than Vettel is, based on recent performance...

EDIT: Oops I forgot, if SV wins and Alonso is out of the picture, he gets the WDC based on number of wins, not Webber... so yeah, Alonso's engine popping is not good news for Webber either... :)

    • You know what, I am enjoying your updates, but I have to say it is pretty poor form to walk into a shop that is paying for space and stock on the floor, try all their seats to work out what you are happy with, then buy somewhere else. If everyone did that the shop will be out of business with no opportunity for anyone to try a seat before buying. 👎
    • Good work, and thanks for posting up your solution for future people!
    • Yeah mate that’s the plan, I just want something I can have fun in and work on during weekends.  There’s really only 1 road fit to drive the car on and luckily is been redone recently.  I do want to tune it next year sometime, no dynos here so I’m looking at an ECU that can be remote tuned.
    • Initially I thought having a pair of Recaro seats would be a big bonus, it turns out these do get a little uncomfortable on long journeys (my fault, not the seat). I had a look through the GSM Performance website at reclining seats and booked an appointment to visit their show room. I got the Recaro Sportster CS for the R34 from here, was very happy with the service received so of course a re-visit was in order. Unfortunately the two Corbeau seats I had chosen aren't on display but they had 4 other options available. Two seats dug into my back, one dug into my legs and the other was perfect. I also found out that Recaro seats use a larger bolt pattern so some adaption was required. Luckily GSM offer some universal adaptors that should solve this problem. I searched the interwebs for price comparisons and Corbeau themselves were the cheapest at £300 cheaper (for the pair). I asked GSM if they could price match, unfortunately they couldn't. I later received an email saying Corbeau would honour them the same discount, but the purchase was already made. I did however order the brackets from GSM, both arrived on the same day. I started with the passenger side seat, knowing this was going to be a little trial and error. There are 3 mounting holes at the front and 2 at the rear on these JURAN Racing seat rails.  With the adaptor brackets mounted, the allen cap bolts started to push into the seat, NOT GOOD!  The rear mounting holes lined up but there were issues at the front. The holes were 1/2 hole out, so the brackets got a tickle with the drill to modify the holes. The supplied bolts weren't going to be long enough and a spacer was needed to stop the adaptor bars from bending. A local fasteners company supplied be with some nylon spacers and longer bolts (M8x30, although these will be replaced with 35mm long shortly) A before and after I pre-drilled the front bracket before making a start on the driver's seat to save some time. And in no time at all that was in the car too. The all black seats have transformed the interior and these are MUCH more comfortable. The only downside with the new Corbeau seats is I sit a little higher, but I'll happily accept that over discomfort. The Youtube video can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPyttKPktXA
