Someone must have taken the UAS Major service package up, and was the extra $700 thing worth it?

www.uniqueautosprts.com then click "service centre" then "major service".

Has a whole list of things, engine (elf semmi synthetic), check sensors and fault codes, injection cleaner, iridium sparks, compression test, water pump, timing belt, diff, transmission oils ect.... anyway the list is on their.

also is the N1 waterpump worth the extra $$$$, well i'm assuming it will cost extra

To me the initial package doesn't seem too unreasonable, I don't think I would spend the extra $700 though... that's all stuff I'm pretty confident doing myself :rolleyes:

From what I read the N1 water pump has larger but less blade inside it to prevent cavitation at high RPM. The trade off is worse flow at low RPM. If you spend most of your time on the track or driving at a moderate speed it should be OK. If you are in bumper to bumper traffic everyday... I wouldn't recommend it unless you have some masochistic urge to cook your engine :thumbsup:

I'd give the n1 pump a miss (costs more and not really right for a road car). But Ben (head mechanic at UAS) is excellent and very careful and thorough in his work. He built the last race engine in my car and it is going strong

it was on their website, what does that mean?

When you get wheels that are 11ty" wide and have an offset of -11ty, the tyres will tend to scrub on body work. This can be fixed by rolling your guards.

Rolling guards can be done either professionally to get a good result, or with a breaker bar on your driveway for the ghetto look :D

well i seem to be getting alot of PM's of NEGATIVE feed back instead of positive feed back about UAS, everything from refusing to fix an oil leak that was aparrently due to not doing a sump bolt up properly to cracking a head gasket that was induced by a tune with Safc2 and the timing wasn't adjusted acordingly... That coupled with my own bad experience with them a while back...

Who else has done a decent 100k log book service and timing belt change, and who was it with? I keep hearing good things about Yavus's team, anyone had it done their?

And yes its just a service, but i want everything done properly on it seeing as the car hasn't been looked after as much as it should have, and that 100k is a pretty important service that can make or break the car.

And i don't mind paying alittle more for a perfect job

Peter Hopkins at ADVAN Performance does a great job. He uses nothing but the best parts and has been tuning skylines for years now, both here and in NZ.

He charges a little bit more than most but after taking my skylines to other places that are cheap and almost destroyed them...

ei: Mercury Motorsport in Queensland thought it would be a great idea to put low impedence injectors in my R33 GTST and then dyno it for 6 hours. (Any of you who know anything about injectors and RB's, will already be shaking your heads).

Nearly fried the comp and the car ran like sh*t until I took it to Peter at ADVAN, he replaced the injectors and tuned the car beautifully.

Highly recommended!

Car ran perfectly fine when I parked it at the end of the year. I took the engine out and painted the engine bay, and put a fuel cell with an inline walbro 255 instead of the in tank unit I had last year. After reinstalling everything, the engine floods when the fuel pump primes. if i pull the fuel pump fuse it'll start, and as soon as I put the fuse back in it starts running ridiculously rich. I checked the tps voltage, and its fine. Cleaned the maf as it had some dust from sitting on a shelf all winter, fuel pressure is correct while running, but wont fire until there is less than 5psi in the lines. The fuel lines are run correctly. I have found a few threads with the same problem but no actual explanation of what fixed it, the threads just ended. Any help would be appreciated. I found the problem though. There was a break in one of the ecu coolant temp sensor wires. Once it was repaired it fired right up with no problems. I would have never thought a non working coolant temp sensor would have caused such an issue.
    • Hi sorry late reply I didnt get a chance to take any pics (my mechanics on the other side of the city) but the plugs were fouled from being too rich. I noticed the MAF wasn't genuine, so I replaced it with a genuine green label unit. I also swapped in a different ignitor, but the issue remains. I've narrowed it down a bit now: - If I unplug and reconnect the fuel lines and install fresh spark plugs, the car starts right up and runs perfectly. Took it around the block with no issues - As soon as I shut it off and try to restart, it won't start again - Fuel pressure while cranking is steady around 40 psi, injectors have good spray, return line is clear, and the FPR vacuum is working. It just seems like it's getting flooded after the first start I unplugged coolant sensors to see if its related to ECU flooding but that didnt make a difference. Im thinking its related to this because this issue only started happening after fixing coolant leaks and replacing the bottom part of the stock manifolds coolant pipe. My mechanic took off the inlet to get to get to do these repairs. My mechanics actually just an old mate who's retired now so ill be taking it to a different mechanic who i know has exp with RBs to see if they find anything. If you have any ideas please send em lll give it a try. Ive tried other things like swapping the injectors, fuel rail, different fuel pressure regs, different ignitor, spark plugs, comp test and MAF but the same issue persists.
