Nismoid.. I am very confident that Vicpol STTU (state traffic tasking unit), Fawkner TMU and Keilor TMU under the direction of their RTI (Regional Traffic Inspector) will have extra funding from TAC to pay for extra overtime hours, cars, backup personal and other resources to make sure this event is not friendly at all for the entrants or spectators.

And, if this event is anything like the one held at Sandown it will be just V8 boguns who think cruising is going fast down the straight then doing 5kmh around the rest of the track. That is of course unless calder management cancel the event or ask Jon " i am a moron" davison for more money 3 days prior to the event in cash - as has happened with other organised events at calder..

When i go my car will be on a trailer with no plates or rego sticker attached.

Did you ever enter easternats? if you did you would know that this had very little to do with the drivers and everything to do with the way the track was set up, was only a couple of places where you could plant the foot and it wasnt long before you had to slow down and form 1 lane to go through a chicane that was there to slow every one down.

Jon " i am a moron" davison

Care to explain that one, have not heard of any attacks on jon himself.

I have been to easternats, as an exibitor, spectator and entrant. I have been 8 times. Only one year I didnt go for a drive on the track because we were to busy rebuilding a mates car in one of the pit sheds they have.

I do agree that the track setup limited the crusing, but honestly, driving flat out in straight line and then seeing a big block car trying to stop at the end of the straight and then corner was just stupid. I should also point out the only year i have taken an import it was damaged, the other years I have taken or been taken as a co-driver entrant has been in v8's.. the bogans like them better.

Jon Davison - I dont even know where to start with Jon. Every single dealing I have had with him, he has demostrated his lack of knowledge on his own event, demostrated his vague thought process and demonstrated his lack of general knowledge on performance cars and the australian automotive industry as a whole. I should also say I have had dealings with him on a corporate level as well as an entrants level. Either way he failed and I wasnt impressed. I have even seen staff at the event under him correct him that he is wrong and refer him to the rules and conditions of entry for his own event. At least other promotors know their own rules and conditions.

He has not been rude, arogant or had the ego that some of the other promotors of these events have. But honestly, I have likened his IQ to that of a wooden box full of hammers.

I will say also that I am fairly anti easternats/summernats etc atm. I have lost interest in big block methonal injected cars with shotgun blowers doing burnouts. They hold no interest for me. I would rather take my R33 and throw it on the track against other street cars and see what has the best overall performance rather that please a blue singlet, VB drinking bogan by blowing out a set of 165's on stock rims under a set of tubbed rear arches...

But that's just my 2c.

The year i entered there was 3 other mates that entered there car so it was about us having fun together, didnt give a shit about the spectators, im not there to put on a show for them, im just there to have fun with my mates, if they want me entertain the spectators then we should be paid to be there.

hehe, of ye i know. My comment was rather sarcastic.

The East is well behaved compared to what goes on in the outer West burbs, always has been really.

So no doubt there has already been some major planning going on - i would probably even bet everyone's 'friend' from the East has put his hand up to "help" out West :)

Given Calder was "quiet" in 2009 with regards to events, Bob is no doubt hurting.

Also given that Bob is actually answering the PHONES down @ Calder at the moment (i heard this earlier tonight), more proof to the pie that the dire straits came down... as everyone expected really.

You can't just shaft the people and expect them to pay ridiculous fee's to hire the place! Hence costs look like they've come back down again interestingly...

You still have a VIN/Chassis/Engine Number. So the ole "removing the sticker" trick has never worked you do realise?

I dont park it and leave the bonnet up, i dont even stand around it with the bonnet up, as i said earlier, im there to have fun, not there for the spectators, if im not driving it then its parked and locked and im off doing something else, unless im fixing it, at which point if it cant be fixed by cable ties, gaffa tape or vey basic tools then it would go back on the trailer and i would take it home to do it.

It's not @ the event you need to worry either :)

That cant be avoided, the most common thing i have heard about with easternats is cops writing down number plates and no doubt vin numbers and people getting epa notices in the mail.

The year i went was when i had a rotary, a bunch of ausrotary guys where lined up at the gate on princess hwy before they opened, a cop told them they couldnt park there and would have to go, the cop sat in his car for a while waiting and none of them left, he eventually left them there, within 2 weeks most of them had an epa notice in the mail, was very funny reading the thread with them bragging how the beat the cop then further on they were whinging that they got an epa notice.

If i get pulled over with it on the trailer then there is not much i can do about it but by taking the plates and rego label off it does not hand it to them on a platter, they actually have to work for it and since there will be plenty of other dick heads running around with there plates on hopefully they just take the easy pickings and leave the rest alone, also being the western suburbs there will be plenty of idiots doing stupid shit to keep the cops busy hopefully allowing me to just cruise past in my bog stock fairlane and cruise home.

It all depends on how you time it, When I entered easternats past 2 years I drove there and home everyday and its true cops are everywhere dicking people going in and going out or even specataors lookin for parking which is the majority of who get done. I avoided never geting pulled over in the last two nats while coming and leaving everyday and also with blad tyres since I didnt have room to take rims and jack with me everyday. But what I noticed was when you get there early like 8-9am cop attention is really low then from about 10-1 its packed then once again dies up to about 5pm which is when they wait for everyone to leave so i just left at around 3-4pm everyday and yeah dont put your plates and stuff while your driving during the event.

    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
    • BTW I measured the jack I have, it is 70mm at the saddle but you only have about 700 until it returns to 150mm high at the cylinder so it is good but no magic bullet.
    • My experience with Rising Sun Exports Before agreeing to the sale I tried to do as much research as I could (obviously), his Facebook reviews are 98% and he goes Live at least once or twice a week. I contacted 2 people in the UK who had used him for their imports, both had positive feedback. His explanation and talk through of the import process was thorough, answering any query no matter how stupid it was. It felt as soon as the money was sent, communication dropped off. I asked for shipping updates every 2 weeks or so, not wanting to pester him, he never had any updates. I wasn't informed the car had been dropped off at the port, I only found out by his Facebook story. I asked for the photos taken at the port, knowing he would need some for insurance purposes. I received a few 5 second clips and that's it. When asked again, he said his staff had them. Weeks later I asked again, he tells me he doesn't have any, but does have 50 photos from the original advert. I never received them. I eventually got the documents sent via WhatsApp after I mentioned the port was requesting them. I purchased a CarVX report, to find out the vehicle is a Grade R with recorded accident damage, first recorded in 2017 when it was first auctioned. He never told me the grade, then again I didn't ask. His response was "Grade R means nothing, it wasn't chassis damage". Still, I would have liked to have been informed about it. Jon prides himself on being open and honest when it comes to inspecting cars, it's his main job doing so at the auctions for customers. When the vehicle arrived in the UK I noticed a few little cosmetic issues. It's a 21 year old car so it wasn't going to be mint condition. The side skirts are cracked on each corner and the sealant is failing. The front grill on the bonnet/hood isn't secured very well, mounting studs are missing. Both minor things, but again, it would have been nice to be told. During a Facebook Live walk around video of the vehicle, he mentioned it has a front Whiteline anti roll bar/sway bar. While on the inspection ramp, I noticed the stock item has been installed. When first questioned, his response was "the ARB? Switched? Since when, it never had them". Since sending video and photo evidence I've not received a response. I'm probably being over critical of the overall condition of an old car, but all I wanted was honesty (which he claims to have). I'm aware I wasn't his only customer, he's busy doing XYZ but other reviews praise him for great communication with regular updates and photos, I felt I didn't receive the same treatment.
    • I was able to get some underside photos while the car was on the ramp The suspension is all Altezza/IS200/IS300 so getting part's will hopefully be less of a headache
    • Welcome to my 2004 Toyota Mark ii IR-V Fortuna (series 2) With a 1JZ-GTE powerplant under the bonnet (hood) it'll give me plenty of scope for power upgrades. For those who aren't familiar with imports, the 1JZ-GTE is a 2.5L 6 cylinder VVTi engine with a single turbocharger. This has the factory R154 5 speed gearbox, along with a aftermarket 2 way LSD differential (brand unknown). Under the arches are a set of CST Zero 1 alloys, 18x9 +30 225/40 up front and 18x9.5 +15 265/35 on the rear. The car was quite low in Japan and there's evidence of the wheels catching the rolled arches/fenders. The tyre's aren't great so I'm in two minds whether to replace both or just the tyres and put up with the wider wheels on the rear. The car still uses stock brakes with the addition of some braided hoses. The exterior is stock with the exception of a BN Sports front bumper and a replacement Fortuna grill  Moving to the interior, the steering wheel has been replaced with a dished MOMO steering wheel (which will get swapped for my Momo Tuner for the time being) Defi Link Gauges are mounted above the climate controls and on the A pillar, the Oil Temp,Oil Pressure,Water Temp and Boost gauges should help with spirited and track driving  The stock seats have been replaced with some retrimmed Recaro bucket seats. Being a larger build these are a little snug, unfortunately the orange isn't for me so I'll look into replacing these down the line. Other modifications include a twin plate clutch, Blitz intercooler, Evolve alloy radiator, a stainless exhaust with decat, HKS EVC-S boost controller and coil overs
