State Government Says It Will Match Part Of Opposition Plan To Crush Hoons' Cars After Third Offence

Recommended Posts

i give up on the government

how many people have died from a burnout, a doughnut or some skids in an industrial area?

i bet the number wouldn't even make 1% of people who died cause of drink driving

the media needs to go and f*k themselves, always put a hoon spin on a totally unrelated story

The problem is its not just industrial areas. The 1st of January this year a "hoon" who happened to be a drunk unlicensed person crashed into our front yard whilst sliding around a corner. 2nd time someone has slid around the corner into properties in the last 3 years on this 1 intersection. (last time it was our next door neighbour)

At the end of the day their are people driving out their that are a pure pain in the ass to the rest of us. If you go flying around me on the roads being ridiculously stupid don't be surprised if i try and get your plates because the plate I just wrote down belongs to a person causing me to be afraid to drive my Skyline on the road for fear of harassment whilst doing the right thing.

good luck selling off the car and having money left over for TAC etc.. every single one of my cars has lost money and i've had to tip in..so not really that bad a result for the driver plus just get a friend/family member to buy it back cheaply id think..cant see much demand for a "thrashed" commo / import. start saving :)

i would think logical and common sense would prevail here

if you are caught and fined 3 times for driving with hoon style behaviour

then it seems reasonable that you loose your car

+1 for this. And for crushing. What's the point of just selling it again so someone else can do the same thing with it. No one would support the cops selling weapons that they'd confiscated from criminals, they want them gone so that they can't be used to commit more offences by someone else.

As to outstanding finance on cars that are being crushed, imagine if you had to prove a good driving history to the finance company before they'd accept you as a good "risk" to loan to? Perhaps people would drive more sensibly if they thought that certain offences would prevent them from ever getting a car loan...

It wouldn't take much confiscating / crushing etc to have an impact on anti-social behaviour in cars. You'd be out with mates and they'd encourage you to do a skid etc, it wouldn't be worth the risk in your nice car..

The one thing i would wish however is that cop cars were all fitted with video recording, and that offences that might lose you your car needed to be backed up with video evidence, not just their word against yours. No evidence, no impound, no proof of hooning.

Agreed some form of evidence should be necessary. I'd hate to see someones pride and joy get crushed over something completely minor (i.e lsd noises) doing a U turn being claimed as hooning. That being said you would have to be having a bad day to be nabbed 3 times for very lame non hoon offenses. Regardless the possibility is their as it is at the officers digression.

What I dont understand is how everything is now marked as hooning.

- If your doing 150km/h + on the road you should be charged with excessive speeding and reckless endangerment.

- If your doing a burnout you should be charged with dangerous driving and public nuisance

- If your street racing against someone then you should get slapped with all of the above.

Badging the whole lot as "hooning" really pulls it away from the real offense. Every offense should be treated for exactly what it is. If your putting especially high risk areas at risk (i.e residential areas, city centres, blackspots) then they should be charged accordingly.

Stop calling a garden spade a shovel just because you don't want them to feel small.

^^

agree everything is hooning these days its a joke..

but they have to tighten the police powers to impound otherwise a bloke might just not like your hair style and say you took off to quick from the lights or anything they want to make up.. and its your job to prove thats not that case guna take up a lot of court time with bs imo

Carry a bottle of Beam in the car.

If you get pulled over after being a tool, down half the bottle.

The judge will understand if you were drunk. You wont get off but you'll probably keep your car :O

^^^^ lol that is so true, chripy the wheels will result in your car been crushed- while driving pissed is not an offence lol

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
