Ok well I'm basically asking if anyone has much experience with usenet as opposed to torrents; I have had to join UseNext with a trial account to download some pr0n, but I've had to stuff around with .par files and missing parts of a 3 gig archive argh, is this par for the course? Download speeds were impressive, but if I'm going to be paying 10 bucks a month for the service I don't want to go through this process with everything!

usenet is just as fast as torrenting. Same thing, just less "well known" as torrenting.

Torrents are shared from peer to peer. Newscripts are direct downloads from servers with a number of connections. There is no uploading so their a hell of alot quicker.

I've noticed that alot of torrents are just recycled Newscripts.

Par files are to repair the broken / missing rar files.

Get a subscription to v3 newzbin. Its an indexing site . It costs like $2 a week or month... not sure... You can create NZB's off the site containing some of the PAR files if one of the rar files is corrupt and download in something like news rover. They go through all the NS's and post them up. People also weed out the virus's and NZB's with missing files.

edit: Thats just an example, there are heaps of sites out there that provide these services.

There is no uploading if you set you torrent upload to 1.........ok there is a tiny incy wincy bit of uploading..but i manage to get thru my 20gig limit in first couple of days of the month with very minimal (less than 1gig) uploads..

I see 1.8Mb/sec, which is basically as fast as ADSL2+ is ever going to be when i am 900m from the exchange.

So there is no way using torrents is slower, or newsgroups/usenet is faster... If you have your net setup correctly, and the swarm has a good kb ratio available.

If the Usenet site isn't close by, or has a high load it could potentially be slower than a torrent anyway. Goes both ways.

I honestly have never had an issue torrenting with anything in 7 years.

I don't mind uploading either, i don't see that as a particular issue

Ye, i'd never pay - i mean you pay for the internet connection already!

The whole point of a torrent community i guess - and ye, must be private sites/trackers.

I download stuff that fast that i can literally go and have a shower, by the time i am done i've seen 3-4gig down.

I could suck down 50gig in a day easily if i tried. Probably 100gig

It is slow if there is no one to download from... thats what I was getting at. Its just a good feeling to not have to stuff around with crappy torrents and rely on people who dont upload :P... hence making it faster because its consistent. I should of been clearer.

I haven't had many problems with torrents and have got some pretty damn good speeds but the sites are now getting cracked down on and going legit. So unfortunatly you have to find some private sites or investigate into alternatives.

In the end you just use whatever works for you. No one has the exact same set up. News Subscriptions are working for me now because there is a wider variety of music.

Another good thing is there are different things available on news scripts then torrents and vise versa which is pretty cool if your a fiend like me... :)

p.s. dont be scared to PM me some of your sites bro :P

lolz actually it was a siterip of a particular BBW site which I could not find ANYWHERE on the net in ~2 years of searching.

It maxed out my 1.5mb connection, which was great - torrents either go really fast or really bloody sloooooow, just changed to utorrent on the main downloading pc hope that helps.

Nobi - Scratch : yeah I find newsgroups kind of confusing, I'm probably not going to stick with Usenext mainly because I've got what I want, but seriously guys it's fkn hard to find bbw porn of any quality either on torrents or rapidshit lol.

sif pay for usenet get a better isp imo, Internode FTW and i have never had slow speeds never.

But then with torrents if you use public trackers you more than likely going to get shit speeds.

The answer to your question OP is use some better software i recommend AltBinz has par2 integrated and can automatically repair and extract rar files

    • What an awesome idea to fit the facelift Lamborghini Diablo headlights. They are a perfect fit!
    • An update regarding the registration with the DVLA I sent off the paperwork the day after I collected the car from the port, two weeks later it was all returned with a letter explaining they have rejected the application. This was because the cheque was £20 short for the road tax (I used a price list I found online). Nevermind it is what it is, it was sent back to them the following day with a new cheque. Fast forward another 2 weeks or so, I called them for an update to be told it had been rejected. Yesterday (16th September) I received the documents back along with another letter, this time it was because I didn't put an X in one box on the V750 (personalised number plate certificate), which declared that I had the rights to the personalised number plate. Why this wasn't mentioned in the first rejection letter, I don't know, but it could have saved this headache. The documents were sent back today, so fingers crossed third times a charm and it'll FINALLY be registered on the road just in time for the bad weather (woohoo!) To cheer myself up I lowered the front 25mm, was sick of seeing it sit like a monster truck. No idea how much clearance I'll have getting on and off the driveway, I'll worry about that when I can actually drive it
    • You're going to miss not worrying about rust in the strut towers like the Skyline shitboxes out there
    • A few little updates that weren't filmed due to not taking long to do or not interesting enough for their own video. My new K&N Air Filter arrived, I went with an RU-4180 which matched the dimensions of the universal cone filter the car originally had.  The battery had gone flat, while that was charging I tidied up the spaghetti wiring at the bulk head and down the sides of the engine Next job was to swap the stereo The Kenwood harness had the female ISO plugs cut off and the male ISO plugs cut off the adaptor loom and joined with bullet connectors. I ordered in a repair loom through work and re-did it all. New Kenwood unit installed (Android Auto, DAB, Bluetooth, Reverse Camera) The bonnet/hood gas struts have been poor since collecting the car. I couldn't find any suitable replacements locally so took a chance on a pair from AliExpress.  The originals don't use a retaining clip to secure the cup onto the ball fixture, would explain why I struggled for 10-15mins trying to pry off the cups. The ball fixtures unscrew using a 12mm spanner, new ones are the same size. Sadly no photo of them fitted, you're not missing much lol The dished Momo steering wheel got replaced with my Momo Tuner, turns out I ordered counter sunk bolts for the horn trim ring (like they normally are for the steering wheel) instead of allen cap (flat seat)  A terrible photo of a Quaife style gear shift knob I've had stashed in my tool box for many years after purchasing the incorrect thread size (I can see a pattern emerging with ordering incorrect parts...) Also threw in a cup holder and a (empty) Boss Coffee can, because why not
    • GT-R clearly the better choice! The 300 is certainly not insaly fast but has a decent amount of poke. Does a nice little drift around the corners with a decent amount of throttle. It's VERY predictable in a slide too.  Feels so progressive! People probably presume there's a 25 year old driving it based on my behaviour this week! 🤣
