35 Pre And Post Modification Impressions/comparison

Recommended Posts

Guys,

ANyone who has modded their 35 I would like to hear your before and after driving impressions.

Does anyone think it was unneccesarry or that the car is now too loud etc ??

I am stoked with standard package (cant believe I am saying that) but am still considering:

1. mid pipe

2. Cobb Tune

3. Aftermarket brake pads

4. Dunlops to replace Bridgestones.

Before mods my car was capable of:

0-100 3.7

0 - 400 m 11.7

After mods:

0 - 100 2.9

0 - 400 10.8

Its my daily drive, and I literally drive 17km in peak hour to work every day. If I put it in auto and just cruise it is totally ok to live with. If I want I can turn it into a loud angry beast at the push of a button or two. The Dunlops are about two seconds quicker around Oran Park than the Bridgestones (ask White 35), the aftermarket pads transform the braking experience.

To honest when I get in a stock R35 now, it feels quite lacking in personality. And there is a big difference in acceleration.

Just do it!

So what would be the approximate cost and the extent of mods to achieve this 0.8 sec improvement?

Minimum $12k t0 $20k

0.8 doesn't sound like a big improvement does it! Its still a 22% improvement. Power went from 295 atw to 401 atw. The torque improved by bucketloads as well. It feels so different to drive compared to a stocker.

That said for a few bucks you could still get a cobb and mid pipe and do a 3.3 second 0 - 100 and an 11. 3 quarter mile or better. You certainly dont need all the gear I've got to get good gains.......but boy its fun.

I think if you did all of that you'd be very glad that you did.

Well, to continue worshipping you, perhaps he should wear a helmet the next time he does 250 kph.... or is this picture off Mt.Panorama? LOL

My gtr is stock at the moment but Im getting the HKS GT600 kit fitted mid april. Plus some other parts like hks fmic, titatinum zaust, trans cooler etc... If that doesnt scare me enough it will get the GT800 package when it comes out around June.

Il post some pics of the package when its done and what my thoughts are.

    • Yep, the closest base tune available was for the GTT, I went with that and made all the logical changes I could find to convert it to Naturally Aspirated. It will rev fine in Neutral to redline but it will be cutting nearly 50% fuel the whole way.  If I let it tune the fuel map to start with that much less fuel it wont run right and has a hard time applying corrections.  These 50% cuts are with a fuel map already about half of what the GTT tune had.  I was having a whole lot of bogging when applying any throttle but seem to have fixed that for no load situations with very aggressive transient throttle settings. I made the corrections to my injectors with data I found for them online, FBCJC100 flowing 306cc.  I'll have to look to see if I can find the Cam section. I have the Bosch 4.9 from Haltech. My manifold pressure when watching it live is always in -5.9 psi/inHg
    • Hi My Tokico BM50 Brake master cylinder has a leak from the hole between the two outlets (M10x1) for brake pipes, I have attached a photo. Can anyone tell me what that hole is and what has failed to allow brake fluid to escape from it, I have looked on line and asked questions on UK forums but can not find the answer, if anyone can enlighten me I would be most grateful.
    • It will be a software setting. I don't believe many on here ever used AEM. And they're now a discontinued product, that's really hard to find any easy answers on. If it were Link or Haltech, someone would be able to just send you a ECU file though.
    • Yes sir am asking is there possible way from aem tuner from wiring pins
    • Have you checked cam to crank timing and confirmed balancer marks are correct?
