I am looking to put a Link (Vipec) ecu in my (now manual) S1. There is an R34 plug-in model which i hope to use. Can people who have put a PFC (or a LINK/Vipec) for that matter - confrim that the firing order for the plugs and the injectors is the same? I believe the only changes are for the engine warning light coming on when there is no traction control? Do people still have fully functional Attesa (assuming they have awd in the first place!!)?

Thanks

Bob

Mine's running an R34 PowerFC - no idea about the firing order for spark plugs or injectors, but I think that some mods had to be made in regards to the voltage and/or signal sent to the triggering of the spark plugs, or vice-versa.

ATTESA works fine, no issues there!

From what i remember my S1 (Feb '97) R34 PFC mod was 2 injector wires around the wrong way & "The Secret Squirrel Tweak" which was all done inside the PFC and works

so 3 wires all up. But there are, (from what is on these forums) 3 ECUs for the S1. the last of the S1 ecu's was something like 10 or more wires.????

I have the OV300 which is the earliest and most common S1 ecu. It would appear from the diagrams and pinouts that i have that the ignition signals are the same but the injector firing order is different - only 2 the same: Nos 1 and 3. I wish people would not talk about secret squirrals - surely the time for such coyness is past? I gather there needs to be some kind of resistor put in the wire which cones off pin 51 - anyone know what kind and what value?

hi guys, my Stagea S2 is auto not manual, there some Power Fc for sale on Ebay, for BNR34 or ER34 , which one is the right one for me? what is the part number ? 415-X001 ? 415-A001 ?

neither will suit. you can't put a Power FC into an auto stagea as the auto gearbox is controlled by the stock ecu. if you do your auto wont work.

sorry, what you mean is i can't put Power FC for my S2 stagea is because my stagea is an AUTOMATIC gearbox? that's sad...if i knew it from the begining, i would get the Manual box...damn.

so the Nistune wil work on my AUTO Stagea right? how much is the Nistune? under AU$1000?

sure does, thats what myself and others are running in their S2 autos. its a daughterboard that is installed into the stock ecu that lets you tune the stock ecu's maps. so the auto controls are still there.

the daughter board itself around $450 from nistune then you need to get it installed (requires circuit board soldering), and then tuned. or, you can expect to pay around $800 for workshops that deal with nistune to supply, install, and tune. have a search of the forums, there are a few good nistune threads around that will contain more info on the product and which workshops can do it.

    • How many of you guys run the synchro os giken set and at what power? Do you then also use the billet plate?  How is it launching with it, any dragy times from 0-60? 60ft?
    • Oh, also, forgot to add these photos I believe.
    • Thought i'd update on this. I was able to get in contact with Craig Lieberman and later on Darryl Alison (owner of Kaizo Industries). Darryl was able to help me verify that my car was in fact one of theirs and is helping me find more info on mine !
    • There's restrictor pills in the stock boost control hoses. That's how they set the amount that was bled off and hence the "high" boost setting. The usual mod in the day was to remove it and send the "high" boost setting up to about 14 psi.
    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
