Just out of interest I went to carsales.com.au to have a geez at what Stagea's are going for these days.

:D RS260's going around the $20+K mark?

RS4s going for cheap as chips?

WTH is going on here?

Its criminal whats happened to prices these days. When I look at the prices of other vehicles and what you get for your hard earned, a Stagea should be twice as much.

I'm a little shocked to see such great cars practically being given away.

Good advert. But couldn't agree more. It's the reason I haven't settled for something else when my stagea was wrote off. To get something with the same features, luxury, comfort, performance and practicability, your looking upwards of 25 grand. I think it's a car I'll never want to get rid off and would at worst, keep it as a daily. If finances provided enough for me, then for sure, Iwould turn it into a monster...most likely a 34 front end.. 2jzGTE single turbo RWD, getrag moster. But a monster nonetheless.

In a way its good for us stagea owners as well because it keeps us sane if we ever have the thought pop into our heads that we might sell it. One look at current market prices and we'll be once again deciding to appreciate what we have and keep it.

Its funny, I once dreamt I had sold the stagea. It got me in such a panic the next morning you dont know how glad I was to see it still sitting there in the driveway. I'm not one to go looking for the meaning of dreams but I know from my reaction to this one that if I ever sold the stagea I would absolutely regret it.

Even when I bought mine though (4 years ago) and a good S1 RS4 would set you back $16-18K they were still excellent value, and there was nothing else even close to comparing to them for performance, level of luxury etc etc

Just keep in mind that they dont make them anymore, and ergo are becoming a LOT less desirable at auction in Japan, hence the much lower prices. Also, with a lot more people doing compliance on them now its much easier to import than it once was. When I got mine there was only 1 place in all of WA that would comply them, and as the company also sold them out of their own yard, turnkey, it was cheaper for private importers to bring them in, send them 4000km's away to get complied. I know a few people that got turned off the very idea of owning an import for that reason alone.

    • Totally equivalent. Stock often goes from the comp cover because that's where the actuator is also installed and the factory needs 2" of hose to make the connection - and it comes as a pre-assembled unit. They totally have a boost reference from somewhere between the turbo and the throttle(s). Oh, jeez. Just do it in M12 then. We don't actually care that much. I would expect any such AN converter fitting to rely on an o-ring or some other seal onto a flat surface under the flange of the hex**, because bolt threads are no intended to provide a pressure seal. unlike..... pipe threads. **which also requires a suitably flat and smooth surface on the turbo's boss to provide the seal.
    • I also used NP   That’s were it’s seems to be the best place to fit it? All schematic shows also that it’s should be referenced from the turbo housing. But idk, I do see high hp cars without any connection or anything to their turbos, so I really don’t know how they connect their things
    • I do have loctite 243 and 246 and a few more models. I could drill it now in place and make new threads for m12 and order an4 - m12 coupling and fit that to the turbo. Run a braided hose to the EBC which I could get a an4 to 1/8npt
    • So M12 and sealant should be fine?    NPT ” because that’s what I had and what I could get atm.
    • Wouldn’t touch par if they gave it to me. You need to ask how much power you’re looking to make and then add about 50% to it because that’s what you’ll end up making  The factory box says no more at about 350kw or so, the upgraded synchro boxes won’t handle much over 500kw for long and at that point you’re looking at an auto or dog engagement manual,  once you’ve gone dog engagement you may as well go sequential, they cost a little bit more but it’s worth it  also while you’re at it you should upgrade the transfer case with 10 friction plates
