as long as they are legal rims with legal tires it wont be a problem in changing them. best to let the insurance company know about it though, if your ever in an accident and they dont know about the new different sized wheels, they will argue that they could have been the reason for the accident and refuse to cover you. :) the worst that will happen by telling them is, they may not cover the entire value of the rims if they are damaged or stolen.

Yeah you are always better off telling them. An extreme example is a friend of ours had a heavily modified beetle, pulled up to a stop sign and had a postie run into the side of him on his bike. Instead of pay for the damage, Australia Post paid an engineer to go over his car and look for a way out of it. They found that he had re drilled discs on it, which is pretty much essential to run a nice set of wheels on a bug, and argued that the car was un roadworthy. Because of that he had to pay for the hospital bill for the postie and was out of pocket for his car even though he wasn't at fault.

So definitely tell them :)

if ur with just cars they will put an extra excess on for your wheels. so it doesnt affect your normal premium just has a seperate excess

did this with mine, and its just a $300 excess or something, and my wheels are pretty expensive

it is so much safer to tell them all. I had my 180sx stollen last year and cause I had changed the mags without telling them (i put a cheaper pair on for a cruise) they bailed on the insurance altogether and didnt cover a thing. was so not cool.

so yeah I would tell them.
