Hello All,

Some of you may have read my topic about suspension woes here --> http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Su...da-t309179.html

In it i was mentioning about the rear passenger wheel bearing being knackered... I took it to Tas Driveline and they were able to fix it for me, however there was something interesting that i found out in the process...

The Manual and Automatic Stagea have 2 Different rear wheel bearings...

Sorry but i dont have a pic, All i can say is that the manual one has a form of spacer on top of the bearing with a 17mm bolt hole through it that acts as part of the mount. It is a hub assembly (like the auto) but without that spacer on top the auto bearing wont fit in the Manual Stagea rear end...

So There you have it.... if you didnt know...

That excersice cost $370 for the bearing + labour....

That's right, the manual and 206RS and some factory optioned LSD auto's (my auto did) have stronger drive shafts which means the larger hub bearings that you mentioned. They should be the same as R33 GTR.

Standard auto's should be the same as R33 GTST.

You can tell by looking at the half shafts out of the diff centre

The heavier ones (GTR) have 6x1 bolt pattern

The lighter (GTST size) has 3x2 bolt pattern

6x1 or 5x1?

Great info... i will have a look into the part number for the bearing for my rear bearing aswell....

I did want to just say this.... I took the car to Ron's Automotive, Ronnie had a look at it for me (For a carton of our local finest) and found something quite interesting....

The front tyres were ROOOOOOTED... Out of round/out of everything, they may aswell have been made out of clag glue and paddlepop sticks... he checked all the links and mounts and found that they were "2nd hand" but definately not in bad condition. He said that with new front tyres and a wheel allignment that the thing would be fixed... So, Off to Jaxx i went... 2 new Pirellis and Bob's your uncle.... Fixedaroony... Top Bloke Ron...

So there you have it... Pedders Suspension test was going to cost me $3k to fix everything. And what it actually cost was,

Wheelbearing and new tyres and wheel allignment..

*note to self - that was a carton well spent...

hi all

you guys are a wealth of information :)

has anyone found a generic supplier for the RS Four S (factory manual) rear wheel bearings?

from my searches, looks like i need the one with the little tab and bolt hole (same as R33 GTR?)

Just Jap have them for $350 :( ( http://justjap.com/s...&cat=375&page=1 )

how much labour should i expect to replace?

can i just get the bearing pressed out (and get new hub seals), or do i need that whole assembly?

thanks all :)

EDIT - anyone used allied bearings? http://www.alliedbearings.com.au/datasheets/nissan/wheel-bearing-kits#vehicle_make_1372

Anyone know if the old bearings can be pressed out and replaced with new? Or do you have to buy the whole assembly?

    • I've got a 2011 J50 that I imported six years ago. The unmodified factory AV system date and time has always been correct ( Japanese timezone of course ) up until last month. About two weeks ago, at engine start, the system wished me a happy new year ( in Japanese of course ). I can't think of anything that would make the system think that the date had changed, unless the GPS component has failed/reset somehow ? I checked the GPS reception in the system settings, and it can still see the satellites. Has any other J50 owner had this happen ?  It's no biggie, just annoying that it tells me the wrong date anytime I start the engine. 😅
    • Love following your adventures on IG, hopefully if you're still around in Japan when we visit again wouldn't mind going for a few beers with you (that's if you're keen on hearing how I hate Nissans).
    • ok so if i wanted to go 18's i would go for 8's  in front 30+ or 32+ off set at front and the back 9 would be ok? what offset should i aim for.. then can i do some  hunting for wheel rim choices..    If i get this - will this fit all around: Size: 18 x 8.5 +37 - n what tyres size tyre should i get for front n back?
    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
