I'm having great trouble aligning my new door on my 33. I bought a new one and put it on, seems pretty much fine - however its sitting out about 5mm too far on the hinge end. This puts out alignment with the front guard way out, and if i bolt up the guard in the proper position it comes onto the guard and won't close.

I've undone both the door side bolts, and a-pillar side bolts and lifted the hinges up, jiggled it around, all sorts of things, but it almost seems as if they're different hinges. I'm trying to get hold of the hinges off my old door to try and see whether that makes a difference, but its a bit of a last ditch attempt.

I'm pretty sure its the right door - or are their subtle differences between s1 and s2 or GTR doors (although i don't think this is off a GTR)??

I've been stuffing it for hours over the last couple of days with no success and its really starting to piss me off. I mean its on and nearly there, but that extra bit it comes out screws all the alignment up. Do doors all come out of the factory different (hope not!), or what is the deal?

Does anybody have any tips or knowledge of this particular problem?

You could try dremeling a bit more out of the hinge to give it a bit more backwards adjustment. I had similar issues with lining up a rear door on my Commodore. I fiddled with it a lot and couldn't get it just right. In the end I gave up and put up with the line across the top not being straight across all the way along. I then went and looked at the other side where the original door was and it followed the same dodgy line! Ah, good old Holden workmanship.

yeah - but unfortunately i want a proper fit.. nice and japanese quality like it was to start with :D I'm going to try the original hinges. If not, I did think of that also - "ovalling" the screw holes out a bit more so i can slide it across a few mil.

I mean pushing it in it sits level, soon as i do up the hinges it starts sitting out again. So it seems to be mainly the hinges and how they're sitting rather than anything else. dum de dum

    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
    • Agreed, and in particular the earth strap that should go from the subframe to the chassis but it often broken or left off. There is a section in the R32 workshop manual you can follow for troubleshooting if you don't see anything suspicious, and depending where you are (there is no location on your user profile) you should be able to get your hands on a second hand replacement unit still if needed
    • Yeah they mention as a R34 for 2.5 Turbo...but then again thos "small" were also for R34 by that different site. But i look into it and that 310mm EBC is for R34 GTT. And by those you linked the specs are the same 🙂    EDIT: I found these on one site here: DBA 4000 series T3 DBA42304S They are 310mm...and it says are for R34GTT...are there good? EDIT2: ok they have pads too.  What "color" should i get for street use? I dont want/need some noisy ones...(and if they are not that dusty that is good too)
    • Yeah, shame. Maybe  driver's carpet is available 🙏. I am waiting for both amayama and nangun to confirm.
