Hi everyone, Just a little confused at the moment. I want to know what the biggest tyre size is that can be used with the stock R33 GTR wheels. I believe the stock rims are 9" wide and I've heard mixed response from people, some say you can fit any size!!!

Basically, I want to fit the REARs with tyres as big as possible on the stock rims, something like 275 or 285! Tyres on car atm are 245/45/17.

Will I have to get a different profile, like 275/40/17? will the ride height be the same?

Thanks

doesnt GTR require front and back to be the same or it messes up the ATESSA system?

hey, thats what I had in mind aswell. Damn, no shortcut of having phat tyres at the back, like you see on some supras! In that case, will the 275 or 285 fit the stock rims all round? I was told it will fit but no point in doing it because the extra rubber will only be wasted without use! Can someone please correct me on this?

Thanks

Rolling diameter must remain the same for the computer to not be confused.

Have a look at the tyre manufacturers websites, for example most semi slicks in 255/40/17 are for 8-10" tyres, but for the ones I just bought there 8-9" only.

I think you could do 265/40/17 if you really want to I'm not so sure about 275/40/17...(or why you would want to :)).

Hey, I wanted something around 275 so it looks fat and chunky from the back. I guess its better to just get some new rims. Remember seeing this R32 GTR with 20in G-max mesh rims and had 300mm tyres

Time to save up for some rims them :)

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
