Hi all.

I've been building an R32 skyline up for over a year, I bought it as a shell and have done the following to it.

Resprayed in Lamborghini Grigio avalon (a darkish grey metallic), and it's the sunroof model

Fitted an Origin Streamline bodykit (full kit)

Have an M-Spec kit painted up in same colour (full kit)

Fitted an RB25DET Neo + R34 gearbox/clutch etc. The motor has done 64,000km and runs on the stock R34 ECU.

Put R33 GTR Brembo brakes front and rear, with new rotors on the rear, new brake pads all round

Got Volk GT-C rims with near new tires, 18 on the back 17 on the front

Fitted a Blitz return flow intercooler

Strut braces front and rear

It is nearly finished, just requires the windows to be put in, new quarter panel windows to be bought and a wheel alignment.

I've applied for and received approval for the engine conversion but it needs to have an emissions and noise test before final registration with the new motor can be given (however, it is currently still registered with the original RB20).

My problem is that my wife and I had our first child two weeks ago and she's now not working, so I can't afford to finish the car off and drive it like I wanted to. I may have to sell it as it is.

What sort of value would I be looking at if I sold it as it is?

i am with Damo on this.....prob around the $15K mark maybe higher or lower depends on the haggler and how badly you need to let it go.....also some pics of the build would be nice....as it sounds like a mean build

It will also need a full regency inspection for the engine conversion.

i thought you dont need to go to regency for engine conversions, all you needa do is tell transport SA or whatever its called these days? correct me if im wrong

My 26 conversion had to have a full inspection, any chance in engine type should have to be inspected. If your just swapping an RB20 for another RB20 then you would probably just need to tell them. Things may have changed since my car went through though.

must be a new thing, my car was done in about 2006/7.

Hey guys, thanks for your input. I will put up some pictures if you like, I'll resize them and do it tonight.

DSTROY, thanks for the hint, I'm sorted with Regency/Inspections. I had to apply using the form Craig132 mentioned, then they notified me of the path I have to take, which is get an emissions test, noise test and brake test by an engineer. They have provided me with the necessary forms for this. Then I need to get Regency to verify the engine number and then it's all legal.

vspek, I will put up some pictures soon. It looks really nice, the paint is kinda dark grey with almost a purple tint in the shadows, but then a really popping bright silver in the light. I got the paint through Murray Bridge Paint and Decorator Centre, I just used acrylic lacquer and I did it all myself. I actually painted the car five times, trying out different shades of grey before I settled on the one I have now (yes I am completely pedantic and obsessive about my cars).

Thanks all.

awsome, thanks! lookin forward to the pics :D

Here's some pictures

The first few are how I bought the car, then there's a couple of the boot which I welded up the spoiler holes and show the guide coat etc. Then some of the M-Spec kit being done, then a photo of the car with the M-Spec kit on one with flash and one without flash (unpolished from painting). At this point in time I decided to fit a bodykit and bigger rims, so I rolled the guards and bought and painted an Origin kit. Then there's a couple of photo's of the car as it is in my shed now, just starting to polish it after paint so it will have a good gloss in a few weeks. Couple of photo's of the wheels/brakes too.

Sorry about the poor photo quality though, I'm no photographer and half of them are off my phone and the car is dusty as anything.

Thanks Damien, I'll file that information away.

I have it booked in to get the windows tinted tomorrow, then installed on the 18th of April. Engineering tests will take place the following week if I can get the time off work to take it down, then installation of the E-Boost and a brief check over by someone to verify everything has been done correctly.....then I'll drive it for two weeks to actually experience the car I've been building for over a year and a half, then it's up for sale.

So if all goes according to plan it will be on the market around the beginning of May. I'll include a full list of what's actually been done to it when the for sale thread is started. There's a fair bit I haven't mentioned such as the sound system details, custom fibreglass pods for the tweeters painted same as the car, etc etc.

Thank you all for your input.

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
