Thought I saw one yesterday on Mains Road near sunnybank. White commodore ute parked at the side of the road with dark tint. When I looked around as we drove past I saw the screen n all the other bullshit normal cop cars have.

They had one up the road from the BP at Goodna, White Pajero, black windows and the globe sticking out the snorkel. Funny that, you should just look out for cars that have tint you can't see through sitting on the side of the road.

Oh and two big arse radio antenna's sticking up.

I've heard too many mixed stories about this to know if it's fact or fiction. From what I can gather, they're saying that with how good the technology is getting they can get you to the number, so why let people off who always do 3 or 4 over. Last I heard was if you came up in the system for always being over - you'd get a fine.

It just doesn't seem like it could work though. All you need is your tyre pressure higher or lower then they were when your car left the factory, and it'll throw it out... or put on your spare tyre and it throws it out etc etc. It's all well and good that police say 'it's the motorists responsibility to have their speedo checked and make sure it's accurate' but they can be thrown off by so many things that I think it might all be a bit of a myth for the 2 and 3 km over thing.

i have seen someone on the QLD transport site that said that there was a 3km/h margin of error that they allowed you before booking you. this has been the case for a few years now. before that it used to be 10%.

my whole complaint with hidden speed cameras is that they don't stop people from speeding, they just raise money. i mean how is getting a speeding fine a month after the school holidays supposed to reduce the road toll. if they want people to slow down put neon signs and big flashing lights on the speed cameras, then people will slow down. the more they see of the police the more they will behave themselves. if they don't see any police then they are going to act like idiots and possibly kill someone. sending someone a fine 3 weeks later won't do much good if they've already crashed the car and died.

Exactly like on sat when I was driving into the city I went onto the highway at kessels road behind a police car

when on the highway he was sitting at about 90kmh and not one car went past him and ever car slowed to his speed and by the time I got to the clem tunnel entance there was no cars behind me yet there were alot when I got on with the cop

and also everytime when People see a speed camera people throw on the ancors even if there already 20kmh under the limit

This wouldn't happen down south, they'd be too worried a truck would clean it up while parked there.

Successive state governments in the eastern states certainly (not sure about TAS and WA) have rooted pillaged and missmanaged the finances and revenues of the said states atrociously for so long and to the degree that they ere essentialy broke so anything that raises revenue is a goer, got a Railway ? -flog it off , in Qld they'd rent out Anna B for Saturday night special tricks if they thought they could get taker so no-one should be supprised if the motorist is a target.

There's millions of us and the road laws are now so draconian that that not getting a ticket for something is becoming virtualy impossible, no matter how saintly a driver you are, so there can be no reason for anyone rational to not understand that the whole motoring community is been recognised as a cash cow to be milked as hard as possible , it's an asset that just can't be exhausted it's self funding, growing and self replenishing.

Any mealy mouthed plattitudes about speeding are quite simply smoke and mirrors and not even good ones , 50% of all road deaths are caused by bad roads it's that simple , speeding makes up about 15% the facts and figures are there for anyone to find .

So get used to it-you're in the barrel next--. :P --for something .

2007 co-incidentally had the highest toll in 10 years (since 1996 (385)) at 360... A big enough random spike...

This is the study from 2008-2009 for road tolls... Shows funily enough its the 25-59 brackets that die the most...

There was a chart straight off the BoS that shows the %... was in the sunday mail 3-4 weeks ago... something like 28% was speeding and 20% was drink driving offenses... Problem being I am STILL waiting for them to send me a copy of the breakdown for an article I am writing... I believe you will find the % of fines made for offenses of <15km over will be very high

      I think the concept is highlighting the various scenarios where thicker oil helps, and thicker oil potentially doesn't help and only generates heat and costs power, in turn for safety which isn't actually any safer (unless you're going real hot). If anything this does highlight why throwing Castrol 10w-60 for your track days is always a solid, safe bet.

      Jason should have shown a real viscosity vs temp chart. All the grades have very little viscosity difference at full operating temperature.

      Yep, if you are applying filler it sounds like there is something wrong with the body lol. Safe to assume there is going to be a lot of sanding going on if your still applying fillers.  Picture a perfect bare metal panel, smooth as glass. You lay down your primer, it's perfect. (why are you going to sand it?) You lay down the colour and clear, it's perfect. No sanding at all took place and you've got a perfectly finished panel.  You won't be chasing your tail, sounds like you were prepping to start laying filler. If your happy with the body after the sanding, there is some bare metal exposed and some areas with primer, no issues at all, start laying the filler. You are safe to lay filler on bare metal or primer (of course check your technical data sheet as usual for what your filler is happy to adhere to).  This isn't a 100% correct statement. There is primer that is happy to adhere to smooth bare metal. There are fillers that are happy to adhere to smooth bare metal. Just make sure you're using the right materials for the job.  Typically if you are using filler, you would go primer, colour and clear. I've never seen any instances before where someone has laid colour over body filler (maybe this happens, but I haven't seen it before). So your plan sounds pretty normal to me.

      I don't think there's any way someone is push starting this car.. I honestly can barely move it, and moving it and steering it is just flat out not possible. I'm sure it is, but needs a bigger man than me. I have a refurbished starter now. The starter man was quite clear and consise showing me how nothing inside a starter really should contribute to slow cranking, and turned out that for the most part... my starter was entirely fine. Still, some of the wear items were replaced and luckily it didn't show any signs of getting too hot, being unfit for use, etc. Which is 'good'. I also noticed the starter definitely sounded different, which is a bit odd considering nothing should have really changed there.... Removed and refit, and we'll pretend one of the manifold bolts didn't fully tighten up and is only "pretty" tight. GM only wants 18ft/lb anyway. I also found a way to properly get my analog wideband reading very slightly leaner than the serial wideband. There's Greg related reasons for this. The serial output is the absolute source of truth, but it is a total asshole to actually stay connected and needs a laptop. The analog input does not, and works with standalone datalogging. Previously the analog input read slightly richer, but if I am aiming at 12.7 I do not want one of the widebands to be saying 12.7 when the source of truth is 13.0. Now the source of truth will be 12.65 and the Analog Wideband will read 12.7. So when I tune to 12.7 it'll be ever so slightly safer. While messing with all of this and idling extensively I can confirm my car seems to restart better while hot now. I did add an old Skyline battery cable between the head and the body though, though now I really realise I should have chosen the frame. Maybe that's a future job. The internet would have you believe that this is caused by bad grounds. In finding out where my grounds actually were I found out the engine bay battery post actually goes to the engine, as well as a seperate one (from the post) to the body of the car. So now there's a third one making the Grounding Triangle which is now a thing. I also from extensive idling have this graph. I have not actually put the formula into HPTuners. I will have to re-engage brain and/or re-engage the people who wanted more data to magically do it for me. Tune should be good for the 30th!
