Right next to the Speedboat Club.

Heaps of you guys have been to my house before, think about where my house is in relation to AIR/Speedway, because I can hear the sprint cars from here. Having said that, its only in certain weather conditions and Ive never heard it inside the house.

Having been to the proposed location, I would be suprised if it failed. TBH I reckon Taperoo and Osborne would be more likely to hear it than the port, but the prevailing wind comes from the SW, so it would blow the sound over water towards bolivar...

The EPA allow certain noise levels above ambient noise. So a drag strip may be loud, but can still be approved with the right buffer zone and noise level buffer above ambient.

^^ If the speed boats are making that much noise on a regular basis, surely it's not that big a deal for drag racing to occur once a month, especially with the sound barrier that would be around it.

Really want this to happen as well, would be nice just to take my line down to a drag strip just to see what it does. Not that I'm expecting heaps.... still would stop me being curious.....

Personally I'd like to see the event be open every Friday and Saturday night, since those are the two days you really want to let off steam and go party - would be good if they were able to build a petrol station right outside the venue too, with e85, methanol, lpg, 98 oct, diesel, nos etc etc

sydney has wednesday night drags air used too as well

for sure, they have to have some kind of regular weekly events to justify the cost being spent on it - whats a speedway's use when its closed? bugger all eh, as we've found out since AIR closed...

they'll have to have some kinda schedule, keep the noisiest events for the daytime or during the weekends and then have general stuff like grip/drift prac during week nights - Im sure many people here would be weekly participants

Yeah would be good if it ran street meets fairly regularly, would come down to the amount of people turning up I guess & how much some locals bitch & moan if noise does turn out to be an issue (there always has to be one or 2. I wouldn't think there'd be a shortage of willing participants.

even if they had just a petrol station/ cafe-restaurant-diner / car wash / car park it'd be an ideal place for people to meet

provided the law respects the venue for what it is and doesnt simply use it as a cash net - this is dependant on what mister premier says too

thing is, you get the stuff that people want to have around for their cars ie petrol, a place for them to clean it, catch a bite, maybe even put in self serve garages with hoists similar to the rentable garages at lala...

possibilities are endless

that would be a great location for the track

Im down near pelican point road and we can hear the speed boats on the weekends very clearly most events, thing is I can put up with the odd event of drags or race cars.

Most of you know where i live and i hear the speed boats very clearly but i wouldnt care if i heard drags ect, its not like it would be after midnight and it would be on weekends

Its no different to the drag strip on victoria rd anyway lol

thats so true. 12pm is the curfew for most noise, and I believe private parties are able to continue to 3am in most suburbs depending on noise levels of course

if this was to go ahead, id be seriously considering investing in some kind of small business like a cafe/car wash venue.... could even have a bunch of simple 8x4 portable rooms leased out to the assorted car clubs across sa, ie the evo grp, hsv, sausa, supra grp, porsche club etc

would be an excellent alternative to renting out private property around the suburbs

    • I was just driving into work and while on my drive, I went to accelerate and noticed the car would sputter/hesitate and I’d hear a few pops from the exhaust before it started going faster. Then I also noticed that when I push my clutch in, the car would die. This all started happening today. Any ideas?
    • That is a lovely Volvo, just saying. Yes I should have got an 260RS when they were cheap. I do regret now.
    • ^ lots of good points made above. The thing is, "aggressive" or "flush" fitment is relative depending on how much you have been influenced by social media. My starting point is always "look at the Nismo RWD specs". That is where you should start, then start measuring as GTSBoy as sort of mentioned, because every car will be slightly different. My 8.5"+35/9.5+38 will not be "flush" enough for you because you want more "pumped" look, which is why you measure. Tyre sizes and brand/models also make a difference. Some tyres are more chunky/square, some are more rounded. That means you could get away with more aggressive offsets without rubbing. But then it also depends on your ride height. Also depends on how much your car copped damage before being shipped from Japan. So it goes back to measuring your car yourself and determining what can work. Those Nismo specs are used bacause it's a safe spec for standard car (suspension. body) with chunky tyres. But then I put 265/35 wide tyres on R34 GT-R wheels, and currently run 285/30 tyres on 18x10 wheels.
    • Sounds pretty awesome. I recommend creating a new build thread and posting all your goodness in there.
