Whats up ladies,

Noticed last night that my shifter sits very far forward in the tunnel opening.

Want to see others just to make sure mine is normal.

The leather boot on the centre console always has heaps of slack on the front row (1, 3, 5), and stretches almost dismounting itself on the rear row.

What's the deal with this? are the Ceffy manual boxes longer than R32? or is the floorplan different between factory manual and auto ? or is mine a freak?

Pic attatched.

Excuse the excessive size of the photo.

How does that work? that doesn't look right, although myne has a 25box im pretty sure that all rb20,25 boxs are ths same in length. Pretty sure it should sit further back than that.

Yeah I was under the impression the 25 boxes were middle in the centre are and wider, but the same length, hence the same driveshafts and shit.

Box is mounted up to the engine all sweet, gearbox crossmember doesnt look out of place, driveshafts are fully connected, etc

Dunno whats up ... :\

Mine was original auto and converted to manual using an R32 RB20 engine and box, and it sits smack bang in the center.

If yours is too far forward then possibly the engine mounts/brackets?

Dan_J's suggestion about the RB30 box seems more logical though.

Not sure how you tell between an RB20 and RB30 box.

mite have to do with ceffy engine crossmember and r32 member?luke, yours is a r32 engine, may have had a r32 member to go with it. if the front engine is lower( ceffy member) that wud pull the gear box with it.

just a thought.

I don't think the R32 crossmember fits in the cefiro because of the different front end suspension.

They use cefiro crossmembers in S13 for RB conversions.

ive had rb30 and rb20 boxes and they both sit in that same spot, in the old cefiro however the 20 box was in the center. both having been originally auto. trying different gearbox crossmembers wont change where it sits, only how high or low it might sit.

look on the right hand side of the belhousing and you'll see the stamped ID.

theres a bit of conflicting info on the net but i just checked my two dead 30 boxes and my 20 box, the 20 box also has alot more webbing on the outside of the bellhousing.

i think its more to do with the floor pan than anything, as the boxes are the same length from bellhousing to shifter.

my first cefiro came turbo auto, manual box was centred. second cefiro was non-turbo auto manual box was not centred.

If you've got gearboxes lying around in your garage perhaps you could take a tape measure to them, so then Nic_A31 can compare to his.

Thank you good sir, a million. I'll check this out as soon as I can.

+1 measurements would be great, or even a side by side picture?

Boxes probably are the same length but maybe the shifter on the box sits differently between the two ?

just measure them up.

RB30: measuring from front of bellhousing to where the shifter slots into the box shifter mechanism (dont no technical term) is 74cm

from front of bellhousing to the end of the shifter palte is 79cm.

RB20 is exactly the same.

    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
    • Well they got my money but they are not getting my gearbox !
    • It's needed for rolling idle up, and I think it is a decider on VCT also.
    • I mean, not really. Link ECU's can absolutely still have errors from the ECU thinking it's getting a sensor it's not expecting. I would imagine the speed at the ECU level in Nistune does absolutely nothing anyway? I assume the ECU does not do any fancy TC stuff with regards to front+rear wheel speed or anything of that like anyway. Someone who uses Nistune may be more fluent in it.
