The autobacs car (which is an audio-based project) is the only gts-t I can remember. Not surprising really...

Judging by some of the pics I've seen so far, I'm starting to think I got the ugly shift! Maybe they only let the nice girls out later in the day :P

Dave: no worries mates perhaps another time then, let me know if your out my way.

Also I'd like to head out Yamanshi way after winter, to check out the Maglev track.  Been saying it for years but never get around to doing it.

T

Cool! When Rezz gets his V35 we should organize a cruise or something. Definitely wise to wait until after winter though, unless you've got snow tyres, chains and 4WD :)

I've been to the maglev track - they have a nice visitors centre with loads of info on the technology. The train is there too, but wasn't in operation on the day I went :)

Hehehe either when Justin's gets his V35 or your M35 right :). You know you want the オーテック アクシス350S only they have the 6段マニュアルトランスミッション.

Definitely want to make a trip over there, we have guys at work associated with them and say there are certain dates they will take passengers. So I'll see when they can take me for a 500kph spin :), interested? :D

Hey hey? Whats this Maglev? Whats that, a new coctail? :)

Meglev - Magnetic Levitation, or Linear Motorcar as the Japanese call it. The train that floats on a magnetic cushion. The development/test track is in Yamanashi, forget exactly how long the track is (a few KM or so I recall), they have a small visitors centre, a mock-up of one of the actual trains and if you're really lucky you can watch them doing some of the test runs....

I went there, woa, must have been at least 4 years ago now...actually stumbled across it by accident on my way to Yokohama. Had not idea what it was at first!

sure was dude...!

we didnt make the SAU meeting time, we got there at about 11 or so?

You went to Asakusa! Did you go there on Sunday the 11th? I was there too from about 3 - 3:30pm to 4:30... shitloads of people there though, I'm not suprised I didn't see you.

Hi guys,

keep posting the pics of TAS 2004, wish I was there (went in 2003) but Japan is one of those places that unless you are loaded it isnt to economical to visit yearly ;)

Reez, any way to get an O/S subscription of the "Club Skyline" magazines??? been trying but no luck..

most magazines won't do overseas subscriptions - but if you have a local japanese bookshop in perth (such as Japan Book Store or Kinokuniya) they should have no problem getting it in for you. Alternatively, you could ring one of their stores in other cities and see if they'll arrange something for you (I think the Japan Book Store is only in melbourne now, but there was a couple of kinokuniyas around, or so I hear).

Yes mate, of course there is...:P

Check NEWs PUBLISHING, although it's still under construction, you should be able to subscribe to "Club Skyline" in a couple of weeks... international orders no problem.

Franks,

There's actual culture in those pics you posted. About the closest we got to a shrine or temple was the Racing Gear Warehouse in Osaka - it was opposite a Buddhist Shrine.

Jash

yeah dude, we tried to do as much cultural exploring as we could as japan is an extremely interesting country! there is life after cars :( :( :D

    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
    • BTW I measured the jack I have, it is 70mm at the saddle but you only have about 700 until it returns to 150mm high at the cylinder so it is good but no magic bullet.
