Hey all,

Bought a Skyline last night, and the car is too low for the driveway - When I went in it was fine, but the angle I went out on must of caused some damage.

It's nothing too serious, and I'm not particularly fussed about it, but it would be nice to have the front bar nice and clean again!

Are there any workshops in Vic that would do a nice cheap touch up?

Picture of bumber

I realize I could do the touch up myself, but it would look crap haha!

Thanks

alot of panel shops dont like to just do a small portion they rather redo the whole front bar but try the mobile franchise guy touch up guy they do great jobs and specialise in doing sectional repairs and it looks like was never done but yeah look aound 3-350 to get that fixed id say.

i got a few of the same kind of marks - not as big but all over front bar - i tried a few touch up paints untill i found the closest match - u cant tell there is any damage or a little scrape unless your really up close looking - still i know its there so it annoys me but it looks perfect still :(

u never know u might find a place which will do that pretty cheap due to its not that bad :P

Yeah - I don't want to dish out $300 - $350 for a new respray, I'd rather just buy a $8 of black spray paint from Bunnings and just go over it, either way it's black - it's hard to notice the scratches.

Wow.. How did you do that on a drive way?.... When I read what you said, I thought you scraped the bottom of your bar...

But those mobile people will charge you at least $200-300 for the job, and for that price, you can pretty much get your whole bar resprayed.

Or maybe just get some touch up paint from Nissan?

polish aint gonna get that out, looks like it has gone down to the primer, just take your paint code to auto barn and get them to do up a pressure pack (spray can) in the right colour, it will cost you around $30 and is goo quality paint.

Thanks for that - I'll get a spray paint can.

If its just something like the lip DT Panels might be able to do it cheap....depends on what your aiming for exactly.

My drive-way is fairly steep, 3 turns and if I get the angle wrong it scrapes and the fiberglass cracks :D

If you can deal with it feel free to touch it up yourself, and if you want a really high quality job take it to MiColour or a similar paintshop, but expect to pay $$$

    • Nah that is not actually a lot. Just painting my GTR frontend and the little bits to make sideskirts/nismo flare pieces work correctly/fit on the sedan/mount up correctly came to about $7000. Is it a lot? Sure. None of this is economical. Economy would be shelling the car and buying a 2010 Corolla to commute in. The perspective of all of this is different.
    • I have the re003s’ on my 06 XT Forester Turbo and I highly rate them for street wet and dry
    • I don't see any issues here. I've been saying all along this is a big job, the price reflects that.  When the car comes back perfect I'm sure it will feel like money well spent.
    • Remember, take original quote. Double it. Then add a bit more. It's how any project goes.
    • So, I started this repair and got as far as "fixing" the holes with some fibreglass. God all those years working on boats came back quickly. I decided I'd reach out to some rust guys just to see what they would say about it. I came across a guy about 40 mins away and went to see him. He said the windscreen needs to come out, that there might be some more bits around the windscreen and he'd quote them at the time. But his quote was $300 to remove and replace windscreen and $3k for the damage he can see. He said he could respray the roof for $1200 and the bonnet for another $800 (somebody has previously rattle canned it, its horrendous). This is $5300 + any small additional bits. It's a lot, I get that and the name of one of my fave youtube channels 'Not Economically Viable' comes to mind.  I'm not being financially rational, but I've taken him up on the quote. He's opening a new shop in November with more room, so we're waiting for that. I'll leave the currently missing headliner out until then. I'm looking forward to it being fixed and having the paint looking nice again (lots of clear coat issues on the roof too). / flame suit on.
