hi im looking at inter coolers on just jap and was wondering how much difference there would be between these two inter coolers when it comes to

cooling

turbo lag

ease of fitting

heat soak.

i intend on meshing the front bar to hide the intercooler from the cops interest so the shine of it doesnt matter (unless haveing mesh in front of it serverly affects the performance )

here they are

The Blitz one hands down. Larger core and overall will be better quality. All the things you listed are marginal given the two kits and nothing you would ever notice on a normal/mild setup. I'm assuming you have a stock turbo?

Also a heads up, intercooler is one word.

lol thanks man

ok so im better spending the extra money

also if i were to put mesh infront of the intercooler would it affect it ? iv seen cars with this so the cooler doesnt stand out ?

If you don't plan on going for over 280rwkw... IMO the cheaper one is better value and both should perform pretty much the same.

The Blitz should excel further once you push things more as generally the cores are better.

Ok firstly I would always go with a well known brand name. I have personally never heard of cooling pro.

Just by looking (which is inconclusive in most cases) the blitz core appears to be of much higher construction quality and the end tanks appear to be pressed, not cast (pressed being lighter and stronger).

Also there is no photo of the inside of the cores, so you cant see how much metal/fins are inside each tube/bar. You must remember here that this can be a compromise between cooling, efficiency and flow but usually the big brands get it just right. It can also depend on what power figures your chasing.

For example, I currently have in my possesion a Hybrid GT2 core and a Greddy spec M core and the spec M core is far superior as far as fins per inch both inside and out are concerned. However the Hybrid core will do just fine for my power figure and set-up not to mention that nearly any aftermarket core will be superior to the factory side mount core. I am now using the hybrid core with great gains.

Also keep in mind that the stock R34 core is twice the size as R32, R33 and are said to be good for up to 200rwkw.

Another thing is that the cheaper brands usually still need to be modified to fit (i.e cut/trim piping) regardless of the fact that they claim it is a direct bolt on. Although having said that no direct kit will fit if, for example, the car has had an accident resulting in structure/frame work of the body being slightly or dramatically shifted.

Food for thought.

thanks for the great info mate yeah i heard the standard side mount is ment to be good but the other day i drove to the shops and back to get a pod filter and was suprized how hot the out let pipe of the inter cooler was,

but i think it comes down to my series 2 bumper for a start, that thin pushe air everywere but were its ment to go lol.

so first step ot to find a series one bar then get it painted to match , and while im fitting it i wanted a cooler to install at the same time ,

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
