I have an 05 At V35 Coupe - i get 450-480ish kms from full city driving with the occasional 'squirt' ....550 - 600 kms on country roads.

I get around 600km or so pure city driving. Not sure what I get long distance (hwy driving): never taken it on a decent trip....

Welcome and manual is the way to go!

I get around 12.5 l / 100km in the auto with Ultimate 98.

The good news is that I haven't had any attention from the cops. The bad news is that somebody broke into my house to try and jack the line while I was zzz.

Hope this helps.

*No cop attention

*Great on fuel get around 600kms

*Insurance isnt too bad

You cant go wrong with a v35 i say go for it :)

I wouldn't say no cop attention...

Had a cop turned his head and followed me with his eyes as I drove past him while he was pulling over another car and writing a fine...

and I was doing like... 50km/h just coming off a right hand turn, std exhaust so no undue noises...

It was in Boronia...

Just a matter of time before every cop car knows what V35 Skyline looks like. Oh by the way, Skylines has been dubbed in Herald Sun

as the noisiest car in the recent pipe down operation. So expect more surpirses.

Those who are scared to receive the attention of cops, just don't drive at all, don't buy a V35, or just don't do anything stupid in any car really.

or buy a V35 sedan, you'll blend in with Maximas very well...

the stupid lowlife probably thinking he was gonna score an R35 GTR

I get 600km easily with a lot of suburban running, some city, a little freeway but mostly short trips. I use BP Ultimate too and I think fuel economy is excellent without having to consciously think about driving frugally.

With regard to insurance I pay about $1200 with Just Car for a 24 year old on Rating 1. In the 7 months I have owned the car I have never been pulled over by a cop because of the "type" of car it is.

As for values, regardless of the V36 the prices of V35s are starting to drop quite dramatically (if you watch the auctions) mainly because the Aussie dollar is improving vastly against the Yen and also the V35 is getting old. The series 1 sedans are nearly 10 years old and the coupes are at least 7. That said the V series are incredible bang for buck. Try getting a 350z with the same level of creature comfort for the same price.

Unrelated but noticed a V36 370GT coupe type SP for under $40k complied on the Prestige Motorsport website. Won't be long before we start seeing 36s around.

Nothing wrong with a sleeper ,

As I am coming off a driving suspension thanks to my Black R33 GTS-T and to make matters worse I am Black also,

I kinda love that my V35 Sedan sort of resembles a Maxima, In the V35 Sedans defense I can state that the V35 looks WAY BETTER than the Maxima , It astounds me why the V35 is not stocked locally but the Maxima is ?

Back to the point , I love me sleeper specially when I blow past some over modified Ford/Holden/Soarer etc.

Thanks a lot guys for all the replies. Really helpfull.

Couple more quick q's, anyone with a premium pack and/or sat/nav, popup monitor, bose stereo etc how much do you think it adds to the car? Im sure the half leather is nicer but I was wondering if the the touchscreens, etc really get used or are they just kinda gimmicks that require money and effort to convert over.

Also even in the base pack the radio would need to be replaced to work here right? Is that a hard job? In the pictures ive got it looks like the radio controls are pretty well intergrated with the console rather than a headunit. Does that mean you need to modify the console to fit in a head unit or fit the headunit somewhere else and disable the main controls?

Ok last one i swear, what would you consider better value, stock but faily certain genuine low k's from japan or local model for the same money with more k's but some additional mods?

they are not touchscreen on the V35.

you do need to spend money but having the screen opens up lots of possibility of devices that you can add onto it...

navigation, tv, cd/dvd changer, ipod video etc.

radio frequency need fm band expander. any audio installer can do it no difference to R32, R33, R34 skylines headunits, just plug in the aerial line and find 12VE and ground.

being a grey import won't hold value. fullstop. you buy it out of personal emotion, nothing outside the common brands of BMW will retain much value, not in the current volatile economic situation. you want value? buy a house.

In order to install an after-market stereo you need to buy the double din trim piece, and the Nissan climate control unit (the oem one is integrated in the stereo).

Like I did.

by doing so you loose dual control temp.. but pw350gt (yun) said he could dismantle the old a/c dual temp button, and if you're handy with soldering iron, you can re-solder it onto the new button that comes with the dual din panel but don't have the dual temp button...

lots of work but if you can successfully do it i'm sure it will feel rewarding!

Yeah we had a look at putting the old dual control button onto the new one .... internet instructions seemed simple enough - in real life it is a pita job (and a reasonably high chance of toasting the board - it is very small and fidgety job). FYI I hadn't used the dual climate function before I did the conversion, and haven't missed it since. We never use it in the wife's CRV either. Wank factor I reckon.

not really, the mrs loves to set her side of temp to Lo while I really hate it and always wanted mine set to around 20-21ish

thank god for dual zone otherwise there's one more thing to argue about - LOL

by the way does your aftermarket unit comes with a steering wheel control re-learning function? or have you lost that functionality since swapping?

    • The spray cans were in the "Kiln" room whilst I was preping the parts,  so probably around 2 hours to get them warmed up, the kiln room has 3 small ovens running at 100°c, 3 medium sized ovens running 100°c, and the large one I used running at 80°c, the room itself was about 28°c, I also spent a bit of time taping up the parts in the room as well, and by the time I was done I would assume that the parts were around that 28°c As for power, I expect a couple of Killerwasps up high would be achievable with the current mods, I'm still running the MZR 2.0 intake and throttle body, and there is a slight mismatch with the 2.0 intake (smaller) and 2.5 intake ports (larger) on the head, this intake is matched and specifically designed to fix this issue with the ports mismatch, the throttle body is also a couple of mm larger, OEM is 65mm, the Bosch is 68mm In the end it will look "prettier" than the molded plastic thing that is the OEM MZR 2.0 intake As for the LSD, it's the OEM Torsen which works fine for what I use the car for, plus, basically no maintenance apart from the occasional oil change
    • I was at Tunehouse in Marrickville (great team over there really know their VR's) , and I spotted this Very clean R35.
    • Mate , I have the same issue right now with the exhaust noise , if you can tell me what your local guy did , I'll talk to my guys and see if they can do the same. Power is good but it just too loud when put it down.
    • The other trick I've found with wrinkle black is to put the can in hot water for a bit to warm the paint up, and to pre-heat whatever you're painting. It'll be interesting to see if you pick up any power with the intake, following with interest. Got a proper lsd for this?
    • Plazmaman 76mm Pro Series, done. Data to back it up, I posted up somewhere here a few years back
