It depends on which RB20DET and RB25 you have. There are 2 different types of RB25 engines. The series 1 and the series 2.

The series 1 has an external ignitor module which is mounted at the rear of the coil pack cover. The series 2 doesnt have this module as the ignitors are built into the coil packs themselves.

The series 1 RB25 uses the same coils as the 89-92 model RB20DET.

Heres some pics of the series 1 RB25DET engine outlining the ignitor module:

Let me know if you need any further information or assistance with this as I am the trademark owner of Yellow Jackets Performance Coil Packs and I will be glad to help.

if they are series 1 r33 then they are the same as the rb20. series 2 r33 are different, and i think the r34 may be different again.

if it has an ignitor unit (square thing at the back of the rocker cover) then they are series 1. if no ignitor unit then they are series 2

    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
