Do you have an engine that will handle the -5's?

or are you going to a have a laggy 350rwks and hope and pray that everytime you hit the throttle bits of engine arent going to fly out the bonnet?

LOL @ engine on boost driving down the highway

does the car do it now? NO!

Enigne is built, Look at my thread for details..

And no the car dose not do it now....It NA....Go figure.

What engine do you have in it ATM?

I think you just need to go and sit and think about this.

Obviously if your statement was true that you don't care about power figure then you would go -7's.

You can keep thinking um ah, oh wait, hmmm, all day if you want. It ain't gonna put the turbos on the car is it?!

Grow some balls and make your choice. It's going to be a weekender then just get -5's. And also it's a weekender why do you care about fuel economy. If mine was a weekender I would be running e85 and loving life!

I drive my car once a week. I still would prefer to have the -9s on it. Either -9s or go much bigger like a T04Z and make 440rwkw+ with a stroker.

When i do fire the car up - it is to go for a run in the twisties, or take it to a club motorkhana day and what have you - why would i take it out just to drive @ 60km/h in traffic or on the fwy when most speed are 110km/h in the best of places. Simply cannot use the top end unless you head to a circuit to play in the 200km/h zone.

Either way - hurry up and decide. Talking about it for months gets you nowhere.

This guy would know!

Atm its a rb25 NA gts4. Bone stock.

You can have the biggest "balls" in the world...Still not going to help in making the right desicion.

you say -5's....Then you say Nismoid knows what his talking about saiyng -9s...

haha looks like none of us could organize a root in a brothel.

About time you make a decision.

Mate, I made my decision, and so have many others.

The reason nismoid would know is, he's tried both hasn't he! So it seems quite logical that his personal preferance might be similar to yours.

I know what I wanted, 300 odd kw due to stock motor.

You on the other hand have no f**kinng idea what you want! What do you want out of your car?! Have you ever even owned a turbo car?

Nah never driven a turbo mate, ( mates VL turbo, but that dosent count) so yer its hard to know what i want, I dont want a track car. Just a real quick street car. That will still throw you back in your seat.

I knew I got that vibe from you.

Mate you don't know the fundamentals, I'm sorry to say. Youll have no idea what you want to achieve. Or you won't have anything to compare it on, which might be a good thing. f**k stick with the stockies and you'll think you're in the fastest car in the world!

Whatever you get is going to be much better than what you had! Plain and simple.

Having never driven turbo before and jumping onto 300+awkw is good fun lol i think you should buy my stock 34R ceramics and enjoy a whooping 260awkw and learn to appreciate a turbocharged vehicle :P

This x 100.

It's been more than an hour. What was purchased?

I buckled....Ive got two invoices From GCG sitting on my desk, one for -5s one for -9s.

Did purchase a set of id 1000s. So thats enough money for today :/

how bout i give one of you the 2500 and you can make the choice and buy for me ;)

There is more of a "wow" factor as they come onto boost.

To anyone that hasn't experienced turbos cars much, the one that feels the fastest is the one that has the bigger transition onto boost. Eg, if it makes 100kw at 2500rpm then 350kw at 3500rpm that's a Fkn huge shove in the back over 1000rpm spread. That will impress your mates and will feel quick. Plus driving a car like that has a certain appeal, it's fun to feel the transition and get pinned to the seat.

Edit; also when you get used to the power of them at 1bar or whatever, you can turn them up to about 26psi and if the rest of the car is up to scratch you'll be over 400kw.

actually spent a good couple hours today talking to a few tuners around, JEM, Unigroup, Even had a chat with couple of the boys from GCG. ( who always try and tell me the -5's are responsive. ( so there customers say)

Each one said -5's are a much better option, apart from unigroup saying it depends on your application, All said there is really not much diffreance in response, Yet top end power and room for bigger set up will be lost in the future going -9's unless you plan to buy another set of blowers

Could still feel the boost come on and pull like a dam train in Nicks GTR with -9s. haha im itching to feel the diffrenace on a bigger set up if you think its alot more of a differance.

Well of course, the 5's have a bigger hit and allow close to another 80rwkw for when you're sick of 350kw. In saying that, you've never driven even 200awkw? Then all of this to be honest is a bit of a waste of time, either option will have you holding on for your life at 20psj

    • How many of you guys run the synchro os giken set and at what power? Do you then also use the billet plate?  How is it launching with it, any dragy times from 0-60? 60ft?
    • Oh, also, forgot to add these photos I believe.
    • Thought i'd update on this. I was able to get in contact with Craig Lieberman and later on Darryl Alison (owner of Kaizo Industries). Darryl was able to help me verify that my car was in fact one of theirs and is helping me find more info on mine !
    • There's restrictor pills in the stock boost control hoses. That's how they set the amount that was bled off and hence the "high" boost setting. The usual mod in the day was to remove it and send the "high" boost setting up to about 14 psi.
    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
