Left: Fan taken out of my R32 gtst, has 8 blades.

Right: 'R32 gtst' fan I ordered, has 9 blades. Blades face opposite direction to my current fan.

Just wanna know which one is the right one? As fan I took outta car is fine so if it's the right one I can just put it back in.

But surely rb25 and rb20 cranks turn the same way? the 9 blade fan i have has blades facing the opposite way to the 8 blade version that was in my car.

Both those fans are clockwise (right hand) fans.

Flipping over a fan (or prop) does not alter its rotation, that's built into the shape.

What it does though is alter the leading/trailing edge of the foil on each blade.

I don't have an R33 here to check, but that's your easiest way to be sure the fan you just bought wasn't bolted onto the clutch back to front.

as far as i know everyu engine on the planet turns the same way. ie clockwise when looking at it from the front.

both fans will work fine provided you make sure the offset is not going to make the blades too close to the radiator or when your fan clutch engages you will find a nice fan shaped hole cut into the radiator.

the one with swept forward blades (left one) is R32 and will be noisier as it "bites" into the air from the outside leading edge.

the other one has swept back blades to reduce noise however noise shouldnt be a problem on either fan if your clutch is working properly.

hope this helps.

    • Oh, also, forgot to add these photos I believe.
    • Thought i'd update on this. I was able to get in contact with Craig Lieberman and later on Darryl Alison (owner of Kaizo Industries). Darryl was able to help me verify that my car was in fact one of theirs and is helping me find more info on mine !
    • There's restrictor pills in the stock boost control hoses. That's how they set the amount that was bled off and hence the "high" boost setting. The usual mod in the day was to remove it and send the "high" boost setting up to about 14 psi.
    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
