we did try to tell you lol. but atleast you found out for yourself and came to your own conclusion that only agreed with what the rest of us said lol.

you still looking for a car? Anything else tickle your fancy?

I have been mighty tickled by the BMW 318iS , I drove one at the same dealers as the unmentionable Merc , an auto which would possibly be the most out of tune vehicle I have ever driven that was still actualy going and even so it gamely put on a small show of enthusiasm in S mode that surprised me and promised a possible little , in a small way , of go-er potential , now I realise there is little real biffo potential in this model but it was a nice tight feeling car in spite of that and enjoyable to drive in spite of it being not well.

The dealer being a shyster of obviously low , indiscriminate and random breeding wanted to much to much $ by far so I have sourced a Nov build 97 in Sydney with one owner (whom I'm buying from) complete confirmed by BMW service records that show the servicing is beyond up to date -and nothing missed- only 61000ks- a bit of fruit -like sun roof ,-to provide the rain component in the climate control ,--before anyone else jumps in-- a 6 stacker ,always garaged etc.

It is a manual even though I wanted an auto because of my back issues but there is a certain point of concession past which I cannot go and I think the much softer clutch pedal in the Beema will be the point of concession --and what appear to be excellent sports seats.

Deposit has been paid and I fly to Sydney tomorrow to pick it up---and drive back--yeh :domokun:

FRAK THE BACK !

Thanks for that , I flew down yesterday picked up the car and drove back , what a great little ride , 875Ks all up 9 hrs and 55 minutes ,couldn't ask for a more willing car, never put a foot wrong always had a bit when needed and even more amazing all on 55ltrs of 98 , I only had to push it round once in the entire trip the rest of the time it was just there, having just got out of an R34GT-t I didn't expect to be overly happy going back to an NA but I think I got lucky insomuch as this is certainly one of the nicer choices I could have made.

Congratulations Al

Typical frugal-on-the-fuel Beemer. Glad it's a great cruiser for you - with a light clutch - and sports seats.

And those Kms? Less than 5000Kms/Yr eh what?

When i first saw it i thought 875 000km's lol

My R33 only did 66 000km after 13 years, I thought they were wound back but after owning it for a few years i now think they are original km's due to the lack of failures and the engine is still pushing above new car figures power wise.

Forget my other car that only did about 500km/year, ive already put 600km in 3 months

Yeah well I bet you yours doesn't look as good as mine did, too bad we needed  to look at it properly hahaha

post up some pics

those old mercs were crap even when they were new...the 318 is a much more spirited driver, If you look around for not the 318 but a 325, pretty sure they have a 2.5l 6 cylinder and with a 5 speed they are pretty quick cars..

Ive seen them around 10-15k with 100,000kms or so

used to have a c200 when new. very heavy. and always driving it with my foot to the floor. almost no mods. but it had good control.

i could sit that thing sideways for numerous blocks in the rain.

was offered an e36 convertible later but i thought it was girly at the time don't mind them now.

what i don't like about mercedes is when you drive them hard they attract attention with flashing security lights. even after you have locked and unlocked it consistently flashes.

I can almost guarantee their ngk. you should save a lot buying them yourself.

If you were considering those I'd highly recomend magnecor leads.

Thanks for that , the OE leads have BREMI printed along them , they have 2 frequency supressor/resistors inbuilt , BOSCH do a set which costs somewhere over $500.00 , but no-one seems to stock them--can't imagine why-- :D I can get a set from the UK for $180.00 to my door which aint to bad however I've check out the existing for resitance and they're all well within tollerance and as the coilpacks are all good I'm now looking at the injectors which considering that the car at 62000ks has done more standing around than driving in the last 12 years are also a more than likely suspect.

    • That's one of the reasons I got that breed, they look weird, the other reasons are they small, they are very vocal, and run around like they are on crack, I didn't want a breed that just sits around, these two are like kids on red cordial  My daughter has one, and it's a laugh riot, constantly doing Parkour around the house, sits on her shoulder, plays catch, and constantly runs around the house taking turns chasing the dog around, her Bermese though, just lays around with constant bitch face, and just looks on in utter disgust at the cat and dog playing together

    • It's all about the socialisation of the dogs. In that first 8 to 16 weeks of age they need to be taught to be nice and friendly with everything. That way they generalise it to everything. That said, some days you'll just never beat genetics, but 99% of the time dogs chasing cats is purely lack of socialisation, and then the chasing part can turn into prey drive.
