Ok i manage to figure it out although it didnt really help. I got a bit desperate and ended up re-initialising the pfc and it seems to be under control to a certain degree. Hunts still around 860-920rpm. Sounds lumpy so its not all bad.

Tps on idle is around 0.39-0.40v on idle but how are u suppose to increase the WOT voltage?

from paulr33s PFC guide im suppose to let it idle for up to 30min to let it relearn while turning AC on and off.

Bit devo'ed about losing my tune though =[

2mins to reload tune, amazed your car is even running after initialising it... you rotate the whole unit to adjust the voltage.

Thats good to know thanks Trent. I got work this sat and sun until 5pm so depending on how busy you are i might have to wait till next week.

I managed to figure out how to adjust the idle voltage by turning the whole unit but is there a way of adjusting WOT voltage without affecting idle voltage? Its almost as if i cant change the range, i can only adjust the minimum and maximum, which in turn adjusts the maximum and minimum.

LOL

Well this is embarrising. Went to start the car to go to work this morning and the car is barely running. I guess thats what you meant Trent. I didnt realise the car had to be turned off and on for the ECU to be re-initialised. Engine check light is on even while idling so i switched it straight off. Looks like i might have to get it towed to you Trent.

Unless someone has a FC Hacko or similar i can borrow?

Great news guys!!

Originally had the starter motor replaced as the car has been struggling to start over the past month. Suspected bad earth could have caused the high idle. Had it replaced but did not fix the issue. We then replaced the TPS due to a weird a voltage range from 0.39v - 2.56v. After resetting this and replacing the actual TPS unit, we were hopeful but still no change.

Finally after replacing the Idle Control Regulator (had to rip the plenum off to do this) the cars idling at a smooth 950rpm.

After close to a year of sounding like i was launching off the line at every intersection, i am pleased to say the problem has been solved.

Thank you to everyone help!!!

p.s - if anyone is having problems with idle please shoot me a PM, ill try to be as helpful as i can.

HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP - could pm so will post below:

hi read ur post about idle, well I have idle issues mainly first thing in the morning, will kick car over, it will idle rough at around 500rpm for like 5secs then die, unless i give it a lil throttle...

could be cold start issues or more serious.....

also when accelerating normal or quick the rpm will climb but then feel like its backed off, even tho my foot is firm on the pedal...

I am getting dyno done, some say R&R some say bad TPS, some say bad AFR... I have no idea...

    • Mixing things up - installed some leather recaros to match the leather seat covered rear seats. Interior looks pretty schmick now except for some slight wear on the steering wheel which I will monitor and address if it becomes worse or actually noticeable!

The project cars I'm always doing things slowly on them as I'm wanting them to be done better, and neater, and nicer. Luckily I don't have to deal with 18 year old Matt's "Learning to wire" stuff in the project cars. And there's only one piece of wiring I'm displeased about in the Landcruiser, and it's about to be cut out... However, the box loads of parts that have been going through this place lately for the Landcruiser... Brake pads Brake Rotors Full handbrake overhaul Wheel Bearings Seals Swivel hubs Steering Boxes Half the suspension joints Shocks Air bags (Ones to go in the rear springs for towing) Water pump Timing kit Lower timing case Harmonic Balancer Radiator Lots of other little seals and shits Gas struts for the bonnet New power window switches And god knows what else I've forgotten... Ha ha ha I have my fingers crossed the pinion seals don't start leaking on the diffs, that the transfer case doesn't leak, and the gearbox input shaft doesn't leak, nor the rear main seal. As they're about the only seals I haven't replaced in the driveline! I'm seriously eyeing off buying new caliper rebuild kits front and rear brake calipers... I'll probably recheck all the valve clearances soon too, and hopefully, it should be all good and sweet to haul some long distance trips again!
    • Every time I pull my 3x gauges out of the console and see the crack-addict way that I did the wiring, and I just can't bring myself to tear it all apart and "make it nice", because it is currently working. In fact, the last time I was in there I probably made it worse.
