Hey guys,

How strict is regency for transferring rego from one state to SA plates?

Mods on the car at the moment:

POD

FMIC (uses standard SMIC piping, doesnt cut thru chassis)

HKS EVC-S (in glovebox)

Apexi Turbo timer - hooked up to handbrake?

Standard Wheels (plenty of tread)

Trust exhaust (pretty darn quiet, must have baffles galore - certainly has a couple of resonators)

Xenon Headlights

Rear Swaybar

DVD player (not earthed to handbrake)

Now, the standard airbox is going back in, front mount is staying there, boost controller and turbo timer are coming out next week and DVD is being 'legalised'....Anything else I should look out for? Or should I just polish the crap out of it, put the spoiler back on and she'll be right?

Any advice or opinions or anyone who had done this before in SA - hit me up!

Cheers

POD OK if ts secured

FMIC (uses standard SMIC piping, doesnt cut thru chassis) should b fine

HKS EVC-S (in glovebox) remove this guy

Apexi Turbo timer - hooked up to handbrake? and this guy

Standard Wheels (plenty of tread) its all good

Trust exhaust (pretty darn quiet, must have baffles galore - certainly has a couple of resonators) could go either way depending on the Db's

Xenon Headlights could go either way depending on the blueness

Rear Swaybar nfi

DVD player (not earthed to handbrake) earth it up and should b OK

f**king hell bro, use the search tab :)

btw; some R34's came factory with xenons so it shouldn't be a problem althought with compliance you have to switch globes, ID check won't know this.

you just need to go to a cop shop for a number check and if there are any obvious defects, as in emissions, then they'll send u to regency..thats what happened when i bought my old 32 from melb..took it to sturt road cop shop n just had to remove some gauges and take it back to the cop shop as it was only a minor thing to do.

I purchased an R33 GTR from Vic and brought it back to SA a year or so ago.

See my thread for the story: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/In...-T-t267077.html

Remember it's an "ID inspection". Very different from say a defect inspection or import where everything needs to be stock. They basically just match the VIN, engine & reg details. An inspector looks over the car for about 5 minutes and he didn't even look in the cabin.

POD - i have too

FMIC (uses standard SMIC piping, doesnt cut thru chassis) - mine was standard

HKS EVC-S (in glovebox) - nfi

Apexi Turbo timer - hooked up to handbrake - no problem for me but I did hide it inside the steering wheel column, didn't disconnect it, but it is illegal so best to make sure they dont find it

Standard Wheels (plenty of tread) - mine were 17" in dish rims

Trust exhaust (pretty darn quiet, must have baffles galore - certainly has a couple of resonators) - mine was the loudest POS canon ever but still no problem

Xenon Headlights - i have too - I dont recall the lights even being turned on

Rear Swaybar - mines stock

DVD player (not earthed to handbrake) - I have too, not sure about earthing but they didnt check any internal wiring

Someone correct me if im wrong, but for ID checks you can only go to either Sturt Inspection Station or Regency, not just any cop shop?

if you have the car registered under your name in another state then its as easy as just changing the address :)

no krishy it's not. When my other half moved from sydney he had to go to regency have a FULL inspection befor they would issue the change over to SA plates and they told him he had to get some things fixed

If ID check are the same people who do regular regency inspections .. or even if they call 'em over cos they're not sure - yeah. I say this because I got done for my factory xenons when I last went through Regency (he called someone over cos he wasn't sure). Because they're not auto-levelling and don't have any washing function, they don't pass ADRs.

Anyway, an hour or two with a foglight wiring kit, some cutdown H7 (I think) globes, and I converted them over for the next pass through - fairly easy (.. and horrible lighting in the meantime till I put the old globes put back in)

It was for me. I've transferred two cars into SA rego (N14 SSS and R34 GTT), one from NSW and the other from Vic - both in my name interstate and was a straight transfer, I don't think they even did an ID check, just signed some papers, paid my money, changed plates - voila.

i have had mates who have brought cars from interstate and had the car registered under their name.....and they did exactly what JRM did.....dont know what happened to your other half Kellz

Regency is hit and miss.

Compliance guys took my V35 down with privacy tint and they failed it yet i see countless numbers of stags etc cruising around with it daily! Im not fussed cos at least when i re-tint it will all match nicely, but pain cos it meant i lost one day of pleasantness and the goo left behind on my windows is proving difficult for even the pros to remove.

The sturt one got closed down. When I brought my gtr back from Victoria, they told me for an ID check it was either lonsdale or regency.

Got a ceffie through there today had to get a vin stamped on the strut tower the rest was no real hassle.Car was on NSW reg.The tier 2 is really just to confirm its not stolen defected etc etc..

Why did you have to have the vin stamped on ? Did you have a sticker vin instead of a plate ?

    • Had another look at the car and I noticed the fuel pump isn't priming on ignition. I'd taken out the pump from the boot to siphon out the old fuel, so maybe I've knocked something loose or broken a wire putting things back together. Will go back with a multimeter and try to work out what's stuffed. Kinda hoping it's the pump itself thats gone so I can upgrade it
    • Yeah agreed, you can't assume that shop are they only people who ever had to work on it. It was just a guess on the mods based on how things were done back then. You can check the Air Flow Meters by the part number on their tags, they are likely either Z32 or Nismo ones (both read about the same but the Z32 one is a little larger while nismo is stock size but supports the higher airflow like a Z32). And yes, all that would get you to 450hp / 340kw To tell what is happening with the turbos, you want a photo of the tag on the core, that will say what it was made out of  (they can retain the front and rear covers to make the plumbing easier)
    • I'm selling my personal race car. 1992 BNR32 Skyline GT-R About eight years ago the engine developed the dreaded low oil pressure problem. I removed it and found the issue. However shortly after I moved half way across the country, moved my work shop, bought a house, got married, then moved my shop again to it's permanent location for the time being. in turn I do not have the time to race this car as it should be. In turn the engine I built for this car will end up in my street car and this car I hope finds a home with someone who can use it to it's full potential. The roll bar was built by Jason Noren Fabricaiton in Pomona California to SCCA and NASA Specs. The car used to compete in redline time attack and global time attack enthusiast class. It also has a fire suppression system.  The car is with me at my workshop in Kyle Texas, USA. Shipping it is no problem, I can personally deliver the car to the port of either Houston or Los Angeles. Any other port depending on where it is may require transport but we can always work that out.   The chassis itself is rust free, rear quarters and under fenders are free of any rust so it's a very solid foundation for anyone who wishes to move forward with it. As posted and at the asking price of $20,000 USD the car includes all of the following;   All OEM Body panels, front fenders, rear bumpers etc.  OEM Nissan Projector headlamps (Pictured N1 lamps were removed) OEM Nismo Side Skirts / Extensions OEM Rear Spats  Front & Rear Subframes are installed car is full roller Rear Subframe has Cusco Camber Arms, Whiteline HICAS Elimination Front Subframe has Whiteline tension rods and whiteline Sway bars w/ endlinks.  Buddy Club N1 Coilovers All chassis wiring and engine wiring is in tact. Attessa System is fully in tact and was functional before engine removal.  BCNR33 GT-R Brembo Brakes F+R with Endless MX72 Plus Pads, DBA Rotors & Stainless Steel Brake lines Billion Racing Radiator Billion Radiator Hoses Fluidyne Engine Oil Cooler Accusump System (trunk Mounted) 5 Speed Transmission w/ Transfer Case F+R Prop-shafts Rear Differential With rear Axles.  Nismo Gauge Cluster Nismo Clutch + Flywheel   Essentially what is needed to make this car running and driving again is as follows: A working Engine, an ECU, and time to put it together. The price posted is or best offer as I am willing to remove some components to accommodate price to a certain extent. If any serious buyer wants full detailed pictures, videos, or any questions I'll be happy to answer them. I believe this car is priced to move quickly considering it's a rust free and very straight chassis but always open to fair negotiation.  I can be contacted via phone or email. • So...to my (and my mechanics doing the swap) surprise...the oil pan from NEO engine does not fit 100% and needs to by modified like this: It is not a huge problem but in the future i want a "proper" oil pan. So question is...what different oil pan can i get to fit without any problems and modification? Thanks!
    • Some more info I found.  These are the last entries Yoshikiyo Fujii made on his blog before he passed away in 2009: http://blog.livedoor.jp/fujii_dynamics/ And finally this is where the workshop was situated:  https://maps.app.goo.gl/HhTPtHzt3WVcBTiEA
