Also, does anyone in this city know how to drive a round about?! Seriously, there are two lanes.. so you can enter it if there is another car already in a round about with 2 lanes as long as they are not in your lane. Jeez it can get annoying when you're waiting 5 minutes to get to a round about because of the que.

Yeah true, but I think that if they change lanes while in a round about they still have to indicate... so if they don't then it's even more grey

meh, they're not going to learn how to drive any time soon so I just treat other drivers like they're all idiots.

Pretty sure the rule is that you have to give way to your RHS in a roundabout regardless of if they are in your lane. Even turning into a main road I don't go unless I have two clear lanes. You just never know what idiot is going to change lanes into you just as you're pulling into the lane next to them.

On the M3 today, two lane were become 1, I was doing about 99km/h, car in front was going a bit slow, maybe 90km/h, instead of speeding up when I hit the brakes, because they're lane was about to end.

They put the right indicator on, and slow down even more and partially merge, fortunately there was room to switch lanes. I think he was nearly at a complete stop in a 100zone while merging.

They had right of way when merging because they were in front, but obviously they don't understand merge laws at all :)

Ok... I thought this might be hard to describe. If I'm sitting at a round about turning left and it has 2 lanes heading each way perpendicular in front of me, I can go even if there is someone coming from my RHS as long as they are in the inside lane and I stay in the left lane. They are two seperate lanes, obviously being careful and making sure they're not going to change lanes (which would technically be illegal without indicating creating a grey area) is a smart thing to do since people don't usualy respect lanes in round abouts. But most drivers think that they have to wait for the inside lane as well which means that traffic sits for about an hour at every damn round about in heavy traffic. The massive round about at Greensborough bypass is a good example.

well actually if the entry ramp ends in dotted line, cars on freeway have the right of way...

the law that the front car has the right to merge only applies if it is a zip merge where usually it's indicated with a sign 'Form 1 Lane' and there is no dashed/dotted lines on either lane.

however regardless of the rules, the best policy is to use common sense and do not proceed if you feel the other driver might not see you or might not know the law. never assume others know the law and never trust other driver.

on some cases yes you can do that (including turning left from minor road onto a major road with multiple lanes).

however if you're not sure the other driver might change lane or not, never assume it's safe until you're sure it's safe to do so...

i reckon it's to easy to get ur license these days, they should make you drive on a freeway and in the city in the driving test. but it's easier to blame hoons and speeding than to solve the main issue of accidents which is lack of experience and driving skills.

my little sister has her license but have never done an emergency brakeing, so i took her into back streets and got her to do hard breaking in the dry (she only now actually understands the distance it takes to stop from 60km to 0km) and wet (shit herself) she never new how much the car would slide or react, but she does now. also got her to over accelerate while turning in the wet and the back end kicked out (did it in a empty carpark) now she understands why i tell her to go easy around corners when it's wet. things like these most P platers have never experienced before or have done. once again it comes back to experience and driving skills.

Of all the annoying things on the road, slow mergers piss me off the most. It is so dangerous to not be at speed when merging on to a highway. I will have it a couple times a week where some moron in front of me will be merging at 40-60km/h. Absolutely retarded >:|

Totally agree, I think an advanced driving course should be part of getting your license. Maybe even an additional day on a skidpan if it's not included in the first one. The first thing I thought of when reading the issue with merging onto the freeway was how many people would ever do that during a driving test? I understand that some might but during peak traffic times is another story again.

Oh and I HATE tailgaters. If someone constantly tailgates and has done an advanced driving course then obviously they weren't paying attention to stopping distances etc. I especially hate when someone tailgates you and you have a line of traffic in front of you with no where to go.. wtf is the point of getting as close to the rear of my car as possible? It's just pointless and I am just worried about them hitting my car. I think a lot of the time tailgating and going around a long line of standing traffic and sneaking in up further just comes down to attitude. Obviously they think they and their time are much more important than everyone else, but they only do it in a car as they think they'd never meet you. Would they do that in line at a supermarket or movie ticket line.. me thinks not.. Maggots!

It wasn't an on-ramp, this was 4 lanes becoming 3, his lane was ending with a dashed marker and the "left lane ends in X metres signs".

Your point is taken that this is not a zip-merge but a "give way" and while I did have right of way there was plenty of room for him to change lanes in front of me safely, until he slowed down.

Like the policeman i seen a while back driving whilst talking on his mobile phone, i tried to take a picture of him but my stupid phone memory was fulll.......

    • When you crank your car, and hit it with a timing light, can you see a steady crank timing?
    • Oh, forgot to add, A few months ago I was getting mixture codes and the car was using crap loads of fuel. You could smell the unburned fuel in the exhaust, it was crazy strong. Economy was over 17.5 l/100 and usually around 19. I smoked the engine and found a leaky CCV hose which I replaced and then I replaced my two pre cat O2 sensors, I also replaced the MAF. This fixed my mixture codes and improved my exonomy but I'm still 14 - 15 l/100 when pottering about town so something is still amiss. Throttle response is much better and it has more pep but I'd like to know why it's still so thirsty (and I'm hoping that whatever it is gives me a bit more poke).

    • Hello all, currently finishing up a rb25 swap into my s14. Having issues with starting, car has spark (confirmed by pulling a plug and watching it spark), has fuel(confirmed by checking pulse/voltage at injectors all spark plugs are soaked in fuel). Car cranks over and pops into the exhaust with a heavy fuel smell but no attempt to start or run, I have torn the timing cover off and triple confirmed timing, turned the CAS in multiple spots both directions, attempted to start with coolant temp and maf unplugged, checked my fuel lines and made sure they weren’t backwards, checked voltage at cas/injectors/coilpacks, made sure all the grounds in the harness are connected and added a few grounding straps (1 from chassis to block, 1 from chassis to head, and 1 from chassis to igniter chip) I am getting stumped here. As a last ditch effort I made a full grounding harness tonight that’s going to run from the battery and add an extra ground from the battery onto the coil pack harness/igniter chip/ intake manifold/ Wiring specialties harness ground/ and alternator. I’m hoping maybe the grounding harness will fix it here but posting here to see if anyone has any other ideas on what else I can check. My fuel pressure is unknown right gauge will be here tomorrow.  IMG_3206.mov
    • yeah I was shocked when I checked my spare OEM on and as below that's how they come from Nissan. (side interesting note new NEO gearbox and replacement park lack the brass bush on the tips and its just all alloy) unsure about damage to the box currently back at 1110 to be pulled down/inspected and selector fork replaced as he built it previously and given the never before seen failure on his billet forks he is replacing it under warranty. He said he has used always OEM the keyway tab without issue for years so it could be an unlucky coincidence. I did talk to him about the sharp corners and stress concentration too. Re: hard shifts i got 7+ years out of the OEM one and the fork itself failed not the keyway. so could be bad luck as I said or an age thing + heat cycles in box and during fabrication of billet?
