i have just bought an rb25det for a reasonable price an all up it is easy to do it yourself job cheaper aswell but depends on your decision so anways provided you know what ur doing i sold my rb20 for $3.500 an theres nothing wrong with it. If u can always check up on prices and is always helpful to ask i have an r32 gtst and you will porberly need an r33 if u want to add power mods (stupid answer) to it after the engine swap turbogearbox for ya ride but all should be sweat sorry to breif

hope this was helpful

life is what u make of it not how it treats you

$3000 for the RB25DET (just jap)

$1195 for the RB20DET

You'll need a stronger gearbox (RB25) which is about $1000. Optional but recommended to replace the front brakes with R33 brakes as they're slightly bigger (and better).

It'd be cheaper to buy a R33 front cut. Atleast that way you'd have some extra stuff to sell like the headlights and quarter panels. I'm not too sure how much they are as I can't find a price anywhere on the net (not really trying).

Labour? a few slabs if you do it with your mates, you'll learn a lot from it as well.

If you're going to get a mechanic to do it, might cost about $1000 if nothing goes wrong...

I'm in the process at the moment, although my RB25DET is from a Stagea AWD.

The engine set me back $3700 (complete with auto trans! - any one want a AWD auto?), and I'm planning to run a Wolf3Dv4+ ($1600). Then there was a $1G for the lightweight flywheel and clutch setup (which I would have got anyway).

The engine didn't come with a coil ignitor module (its apparently built into the ECU), but I managed to source a reco'd one from Petroject ($350).

Extra couple of hundred for ancilliary stuff like relays and wiring.

I'm hoping to do most of the work myself, just renting space to do the job. So I guess I'm looking at around $6G all up. Plus tuning time (for the Wolf).

If you get a half-cut, it might be a bit cheaper, especially for a RWD-only cut. And you get all the electrics you need, ie ECU and loom.

RB20DETs aren't worth that much, maybe $1G if everything is attached.

    • Pads for R32 GTS-t, R32 GT-R non V-Spec (Sumitomo), R33 GTS-t and R34 GT-t are all interchangeable. R34 GT uses a 2x piston caliper, hence it didn't fit.
    • Checked with amayama and nope, the full S2 manual set is not available anymore. Unsurprising, but still disappointing as the ? on availability gave a glimmer of hope.
    • I've heard the Tomei USA head gaskets are decent if you want to o-ring the heads but otherwise not recommended.
    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
