Where is SAU going!!!! :)

how about this: has anyone got pics of getting married in the skyline? maybe someone here has a story about how the 'liner got them hitched. anyone?

I reckon theres one characteristic which time and again will get you the females, the dollars and the popularity.... CHARISMA

A friend of mine has it and I havent met too many people in the world that do. He's a good lookin bloke but what I reckon pulls in the chicks is the fact that he is confident in himself, he can hold a conversation and make it interesting and engaging for everyone.

the only other trick that ive seen work is persistance. My cousin is not the best looking bloke in the world but has lots of confidence without being arrogant. We will walk into a club, spot a good looking woman but none of us when we were single would do shit bout it. He on the other hand would walk up all the time and have a chat, I would say 40% of the time he would end up picking them up or a friend, 30% of the time he will end up havin a good chat and maybe become friends with em and the other 30% would be stuck up bitches who would tell him to **** off! but it neva fases him... he always goes back for more knowing that sooner or later the fish will bite.

yep, we're called bloody volvo drivers cause we get all the bloody chicks and it bloody pisses everyone off.

bloody oath

p.s sinisteR32 i didnt make it to the pub last night, bumped into 2 girls from work and went back to their place to watch movies. the movies were bloody crap.

yes to all of this. excellent post.

So pentae, why dont you tell us how impressed the girls are by the Silvia :(

Another reason why girls arent impressed by my car, last night a friend drove my car as i had enjoyed few too many rusty nails. She stalled the thing countless times, poor diff/box/clutch were making some funky noises and smells.

Roy, i saw your post originally and thought you were talking about a TVR Tuscan - looking at your pic. My friend has a Tuscan S and i was wondering how you could possibly stall it, after all, the engine ticking over is enough to move the car in first gear!

Then i realised you were talking about your Skyline. Unfortunate to have a girl moaning about it but hey, i bet all your real mates love it.

Forget women... i can only dream of a Tuscan S here in Aus, looking at the jobs im applying for in the UK, i dont think i will be able to afford one over there in a real hurry either :( .... your sig seems rather appropriate for this thread :)

bonz, you scare me, you seriuosly scare me.

Chicks want money, they want the name, thats about it.

My brother drives an Alpha 156, its really not a very nice car, but it has a name and leather seats with alpha symbols embroided in them - chicks love it, even heard a mates girlfriend say she got wet just looking at it (they arent a particularly good looking car either)

The other thing is, when any single female heres that my brother is in the oil industry, they want his phone number - every bloody time - 1001 questions etc

They all just want one thing, money, but think about it, if a chick had a huge bank balance and didnt mind throwing it around, I know she would automatically rate a root from me:) I know, I am a s1ut too:p

I guess shortly after I got my silvia I met the smoking hot girl i'm currently with and have been for several years.. she loves my damn car so much she's bought me a viper alarm and a few other things christmas and birthday gifts. She visciously defends it when her friends say 'silvias are shit' or whatever. One of her guy friends from uni drives a non turbo silvia q thats been riced up to the extreme and drives terribly, he gets paid out quite a lot.

Theres a big difference between both cars, even though they are both silvias. I do enjoy being in the minority of s13 silvia owners that actually owns a 2l turbo (which is a rarity in itself) and one that has not been bastardised by crap rice (I'm yet to see another one on the road).

I've given a few girls from work lifts home and they have fallen in love with my car, and constantly rave on about it to anyone who will listen.

i think a lot of chicks know that a "skyline" is a desirable car for teens and 20-somethings. so if you say you drive a skyline, they think you're cool (or a rev head).

but there is definitely more of a stereotype associated with a "skyline" driver, than say a "celica" or a "prelude" driver.

if you're talking about chicks, you'd definitely want your personality to be your forte and not let anything else speak for you. maybe we should all catch cabs when we go out on dates :D

my 2c

if you want to give me the the benefit of the doubt.. you could say chicks want a partner who is successful and can be a provider.

but you do get the really superficial ones who just wanna be seen in the passenger seat of an xyz

you would wanna date a guy/chick who is good at what they do and is doing something interesting and important...

Cars are beginning to mean too much to some people... I know a few people (Females Mainly) that hear someone mentioning a car.. say.."I saw this nice white R33 GTS-T in town" and are soooo quick to tell them how good a friend they are, and they got to drive it, and they are always riding around in it.....

People become obsessed over someone elses car and this is what they call Envy...

Envy can never be the start of a good relationship, Using your car to pick up brings in the wrong types, Althought the Interest from young scantily clad women can raise your confidence and make you a more "charismatic" person...

A decent girl just wants you to have a comfortable car, stable job, sense of humour and big back seat....

When talking to a girl, Never talk about yourself, or your car, only answer questions and ask questions about her... Girls pick up on what you are trying to get at, They know more about what you are thinking than you know...

Be unpredictable, That's it.. Do something or Say something that they aren't expecting, and you'll be in their head for a while, They'll talk to their friends about you... eg "Guess what happened last night, This guy came up to me and Told me I had a nice facial structure" ... She'll be curious about you.. then The nice job, and nice car that she finds out about later just give her bonuses when she talks about you "You know that Guy I told you about... the facial structure thing ... He's got this really nice Nissan Skyliner turbo thing" ....

Not only are you in her good books, her girlfriends will be curious too...

That's an instant couple of admirers...

Only thing it takes is getting past the fact that you might get rejected and giving it a try....

So.... I don't use my cars to pick up... Mainly cause I don't have a car that would pick up...

Walking my dog gets more attention from the girls than driving my cars lol...

But thats just what a Pure bred Siberian Husky is for...

Anyways, Enough dribbling for me..

Now I need to go sulk at my inability to pick up a chick ;-)~

    • And finally, the front lower mount. It was doubly weird. Firstly, the lower mount is held in with a bracket that has 3 bolts (it also acts as the steering lock stop), and then a nut on the shock lower mount itself. So, remove the 3x 14mm head bolts , then the 17mm nut that holds the shock in. From there, you can't actually remove the shock from the lower mount bolt (took me a while to work that out....) Sadly I don't have a pic of the other side, but the swaybar mounts to the same bolt that holds the shock in. You need to push that swaybar mount/bolt back so the shock can be pulled out past the lower control arm.  In this pic you can see the bolt partly pushed back, but it had to go further than that to release the shock. Once the shock is out, putting the new one in is "reverse of disassembly". Put the top of the shock through at least one hole and put a nut on loosely to hold it in place. Put the lower end in place and push the swaybar mount / shock bolt back in place, then loosely attach the other 2 top nuts. Bolt the bracket back in place with the 14mm head bolts and finally put the nut onto the lower bolt. Done....you have new suspension on your v37!
    • And now to the front.  No pics of the 3 nuts holding the front struts on, they are easy to spot. Undo 2 and leave the closest one on loosely. Underneath we have to deal with the wiring again, but this time its worse because the plug is behind the guard liner. You'll have to decide how much of the guard liner to remove, I undid the lower liner's top, inside and lower clips, but didn't pull it full off the guard. Same issue undoing the plug as at the rear, you need to firmly push the release clip from below while equally firmly gripping the plug body and pulling it out of  the socket. I used my fancy electrical disconnect pliers to get in there There is also one clip for the wiring, unlike at the rear I could not get behind it so just had to lever it up and out.....not in great condition to re-use in future.
    • Onto the rear lower shock mount. It's worth starting with a decent degrease to remove 10+ years of road grime, and perhaps also spray a penetrating oil on the shock lower nut. Don't forget to include the shock wiring and plug in the clean.... Deal with the wiring first; you need to release 2 clips where the wiring goes into the bracket (use long nose pliers behind the bracket to compress the clip so you can reuse it), and the rubber mount slides out, then release the plug.  I found it very hard to unplug, from underneath you can compress the tab with a screwdriver or similar, and gently but firmly pull the plug out of the socket (regular pliers may help but don't put too much pressure on the plastic. The lower mount is straightforward, 17mm nut and you can pull the shock out. As I wasn't putting a standard shock back in, I gave the car side wiring socket a generous gob of dialectric grease to keep crap out in the future. Putting the new shock in is straightforward, feed it into at least 1 of the bolt holes at the top and reach around to put a nut on it to hold it up. Then put on the other 2 top nuts loosely and put the shock onto the lower mounting bolt (you may need to lift the hub a little if the new shock is shorter). Tighten the lower nut and 3 upper nuts and you are done. In my case the BC Racing shocks came assembled for the fronts, but the rears needed to re-use the factory strut tops. For that you need spring compressors to take the pressure off the top nut (they are compressed enough when the spring can move between the top and bottom spring seats. Then a 17mm ring spanner to undo the nut while using an 8mm open spanner to stop the shaft turning (or, if you are really lucky you might get it off with a rattle gun).
    • You will now be able to lift the parcel shelf trim enough to get to the shock cover bolts; if you need to full remove the parcel shelf trim for some reason you also remove the escutcheons around the rear seat release and you will have to unplug the high stop light wiring from the boot. Next up is removal of the bracket; 6 nuts and a bolt Good news, you've finally got to the strut top! Remove the dust cover and the 3 shock mount nuts (perhaps leave 1 on lightly for now....) Same on the other side, but easier now you've done it all before
    • OK, so a bunch of trim needs to come off to get to the rear shock top mounts. Once the seat is out of the way, the plastic trim needs to come off. Remove 2 clips at the top then slide the trim towards the centre of the car to clear the lower clip Next you need to be able to lift the parcel shelf, which means you need to remove the mid dark trim around the door, and then the upper light trim above the parcel shelf. The mid trim has a clip in the middle to remove first, then lift the lowest trim off the top of the mid trim (unclips). At the top there is a hidden clip on the inner side to release first by pulling inwards, then the main clip releases by pulling the top towards the front of the car. The door seal comes off with the trim, just put them aside. The the lighter upper trim, this is easy to break to top clips so take it carefully. There is a hidden clip towards the bottom and another in the middle to release first by pulling inwards. Once they are out, there are 3 clips along the rear windscreen side of the panel that are hard to get under. This is what the rear of the panel looks like to assist:
