buying a car on ebay have u viewed it in person, test drove it?

it's one of the dodgiest place on earth to buy a car unseen, let alone one with no rego like this one.

i hope you all the very best of wishes that nothing major is wrong with the car...

why do you think the seller is selling an unregistered car with no air flow meter and missing passenger window?

was the car ever got stolen? something being smashed and grabbed off the vehicle?

i wish u luck man...

na i went and saw it today it starts up fine and everything looks mickey you can tell its a unfinished project, oh and i called vicroads checked if everything was all good and its not stolen, i've seen this guys work before always likes to stand out and be unuqie and it sure does this time when i saw it in person i was amazed. For extra he said he can register it and everything but i can do all that my self, but whats the max should i go for ? i'm actually thinking of getting it on the road and selling it for more hehe

you'd definitely want to be captain cautious with buying any un-registered car, it looks pretty cool in the pictures though,

its the only one i've seen in the country with a full veilside bodykit (they guy has got it wrong in his description) and the paint is crazy buy pretty cool.

as for the amount, i'm not too sure, as its not everyone's piece of cake, most people want a stock standard GT-t to modify so be a bit careful thinking you can make a profit out of it, especially with P plate laws in Vic.

sorry to rain on your parade but 2nd hand market sucks right now... especially grey imports with no local dealer support

go to carsales, and see how many other private R34 being advertised for sale, not to mention dealers...

long story short even offering my mint V35 for trade in on a new Volkswagen the dealer went scoot and run. they just don't want a grey import in their yard, and probably don't want trade ins at all!

This is pretty much stock the cooler is the only mod for the engine, its mainly the kit and wheels that grab my attention. even if i get under 19 for it, registered on the road should be able to get atleast 23-24 right?

Carsales RedBook value guide:

5sp Manual Petrol Intercooled Turbo 6cyl 2.5 2498cc

Average Private Price+ $16,900 - $20,850

u buy it for $19k, then u add like $1500-ish to get it rego'ed maybe a bit more if seller don't include RWC (being it unregistered they're not obliged to provide RWC). by the time u had it in your name it'll be $20k-ish which is the TOP max value according to redbook

you can say scrap the redbook sh1t but if I am a buyer - I'd be going around shopping with redbook value printout in my hand and press the price out of every single seller I see with those values. oh and all those mods not gonna be 'valueable' in the eye of the buyer...

been there done that. bought my R33 for $23k, spent $20k on mods over 3-4 yrs of ownership, and only managed to get $11k out of it via private sale.

go figure.

Yeah as someone said, the 2nd hand market seems really dead.

The car is unique so that's a plus, but there seems to be very few people shopping for 34 GTT's locally.

I would not buy this and expect to get rid of it quickly.

Wow that car is ummmm.... different.. (No offence, just not my thing) Although the GTT part is good, nice choice :D

Don't worry too much about buying off eBay, worst thing happens you win, don't pay and get banned for a month. Better than spnding heaps of $$$ on a lemon (or a lime in this case :P).

Goodluck!

Wow!! I really like that car (other than the wheels).

And LOL @ the lime comment Charlie :P

EDIT: Just noticed the failed offset in the rear :D Disappointing.

its pretty out there but i think its look good =P obviously its not for everyone but... i think the wheels are probably a bit big for my liking though.. and considering it was on ebay a couple of weeks ago for $30,000 or best offer he was probably expecting more than 18,600..

so did u end up getn it?

    • Hello, sorry for being late to join the discussion, but my clock just died on me.   Ive tried to look at Michaels digital clock repair.docx and it doesnt work maybe the file has expired.   Please let me know if you can re upload it or take some youtube videos to show us how to get the clock installed? thanks
    • I thought that might be the case, thats what I'll start saving for. Thanks for the info
    • Ps i found the below forum and it seems to be the same scenario Im dealing with. Going to check my ECU coolant temp wire tomorrow    From NICOclub forum: s1 RB25det flooding at start up Thu Apr 11, 2013 7:23 am I am completely lost on this. Car ran perfectly fine when I parked it at the end of the year. I took the engine out and painted the engine bay, and put a fuel cell with an inline walbro 255 instead of the in tank unit I had last year. After reinstalling everything, the engine floods when the fuel pump primes. if i pull the fuel pump fuse it'll start, and as soon as I put the fuse back in it starts running ridiculously rich. I checked the tps voltage, and its fine. Cleaned the maf as it had some dust from sitting on a shelf all winter, fuel pressure is correct while running, but wont fire until there is less than 5psi in the lines. The fuel lines are run correctly. I have found a few threads with the same problem but no actual explanation of what fixed it, the threads just ended. Any help would be appreciated. I found the problem though. There was a break in one of the ecu coolant temp sensor wires. Once it was repaired it fired right up with no problems. I would have never thought a non working coolant temp sensor would have caused such an issue.
    • Hi sorry late reply I didnt get a chance to take any pics (my mechanics on the other side of the city) but the plugs were fouled from being too rich. I noticed the MAF wasn't genuine, so I replaced it with a genuine green label unit. I also swapped in a different ignitor, but the issue remains. I've narrowed it down a bit now: - If I unplug and reconnect the fuel lines and install fresh spark plugs, the car starts right up and runs perfectly. Took it around the block with no issues - As soon as I shut it off and try to restart, it won't start again - Fuel pressure while cranking is steady around 40 psi, injectors have good spray, return line is clear, and the FPR vacuum is working. It just seems like it's getting flooded after the first start I unplugged coolant sensors to see if its related to ECU flooding but that didnt make a difference. Im thinking its related to this because this issue only started happening after fixing coolant leaks and replacing the bottom part of the stock manifolds coolant pipe. My mechanic took off the inlet to get to get to do these repairs. My mechanics actually just an old mate who's retired now so ill be taking it to a different mechanic who i know has exp with RBs to see if they find anything. If you have any ideas please send em lll give it a try. Ive tried other things like swapping the injectors, fuel rail, different fuel pressure regs, different ignitor, spark plugs, comp test and MAF but the same issue persists.
