If you can locate the gearbox. Look for the transfer case. The thing protruding out from the drivers side of the gear box is the transfer case. There is a driveshaft the protrudes from the transfer case to the fron diff to drive the front wheels.

Im not sure if this has been explained in this thread how the ATTESSA system works. ATTESSA is the name of the driveline system.

It is the same as the GTR driveline.

Its not AWD. Its not RWD.

Under normal circumstances 100% of the power is sent to the rear wheels to drive the car. Making it a RWD car.

The system uses ABS wheel speed sensors, G sensors, steering input and actual speed sensors to assess whether any of the four wheels are spinnning or the car is sliding.

Once these inputs senses there is something going fishy. The ECU works out how much of the power needs to be sent to the front wheels to keep you out of a tree. From there, hydrolically operated clutch packs engauge in the transer case, which turns the drive shaft which drives the front diff and hence the half shafts and then the wheels. Making the car AWD.

Once the system has kept you out of a tree, the clutch packs disengauge and the car becomes RWD again.

No, your car will shit itself and the transfer case will turn into glitter and a troll will jump out of your gearbox and kick you in the nuts.

Seriously, your car has ~100kw at the wheels, you have no chance in hell, in the wet it will skid, like any car above 40kw, but you will definitely not produce smoke, however you may be able to produce some noise, something like LLOOOLLLLLL coming from your tyres because you tried to "smoke them"

My AU falcon makes heaps of smoke, surely it doesn't have much more than 100kw atw.

Anyway, burnouts are shit, all they do is ruin your tires and there's no skill so it doesn't look cool. Once you get your car RWD, you should attempt roundabout drifts in peak hour.

Joke, but I'm pretty sure an n/a skyline would be able to smoke the tires, it's just pointless.

im not going to get into the discussion of what silly car can do burnouts, but just keep this in mind:

Au falcon- 4ltr

157kW @ 4900 rpm.

357Nm @ 3000 rpm.

1437kgs

33 GTS4 - 2.5ltr

139.75kw @ 6400rpm

230.46nm @ 4800rpm

1440kgs

thats curb weight for both... the au has alot more down low torque due to much larger capacity motor.... specs do not work out well for the skyline.....

here's how you can smoke your tyres without removing the drive shaft

1: remove tyres from car

2: cut up tyres with a jigsaw

3: put pieces of tyre in a blender

4: roll tyre crumbs in tally-ho paper

5: smoke tyres as much as you like

I would like to do that, but combine it with candle wax mmmmmm smells good

front propeller shaft is the correcet term :D driveshaft is what the CV's are attached too

theres no point in doing it becuse oil will come out the transfer case and running it without oil wont be good, you will need to plug the hole up with a special tool just for that

Theres only 2 sensible ways of disengaging the 4WD..

1. What Dave said, remove air evacuation connector (drivers side, lower right instrument panel) and depress the brake 5 times within 10 seconds after placing the ignition switch to ON position. At the same time the 4WD warning light will flash twice a second to indicate it is in RWD mode. To return it to 4WD mode u place the ignition switch to OFF and reconnect the air evacuation connector. I've tried it and it works but never left it in RWD mode for long at all just in case it causes some kind of damage.

2. Remove front drive shaft.

But don't know what would happen to the drive line components if you left it in RWD mode for an extended period of time. Possibly could do some damage to something in the long run? anybody knows?

Sorry mate thats wrong, it can only turn a car from awd to rwd for the r32 gts4's as they have electronic controllers, whereas the r33's have hydrological ones. All it does for 33 gts4s is controls how much goes from the back to the front, what ratio: 50/50 60/40 70/30 ...etc..

if its on 0 and you manage to slip the rear wheels it will start at the factory 5% to the front... if you keep skidding it will put more power to the front until the geforces go back to normal.

lol this whole thread reads like some schoolkid's fantasy or some kind of BS.

It's a heavy, N/A 2.5 litre. You're not going to get anyone around here giving you advice on how to do skids, in what is possibly one of the worst cars for it. Sell it for a profit and buy a VN. You'll be happier in the end.

I have one... makes a huge difference and I have tested with tyres down to string on a wet skid pan, with 230rwkw.... theres still skidding, but about 60-70% less....

Was the first mod I did and really happy with it....

You feel everything alot more, steering wheel goes firmer, response feels better, its a useful mod.

    • Hi everyone, I’m having an issue with my R32 GT-R. Sometimes, when the car goes over a bump or experiences some vibration, the 4WD warning light comes on the dashboard. When I check the code from the control unit in the trunk, it shows Code 19 – ETS Motor. However, everything seems to be working fine — if I turn off the engine and restart the car, the light goes away and everything functions normally. Has anyone experienced this before? Where should I start troubleshooting this issue? Thanks in advance!
    • I'm back from the dyno - again! I went looking for someone who knew LS's and had a roller dyno, to see how it shaped up compared to everything else and confirm the powerband really is peaking where Mr Mamo says it should. TLDR: The dyno result I got this time definitely had the shape of how it feels on the road and finally 'makes sense'. Also we had a bit more time to play with timing on the dyno, it turns out the common practice in LS is to lower the timing around peak torque and restore it to max after. So given a car was on the dyno and mostly dialled in already, it was time for tweaking. Luis at APS is definitely knowledgable when it came to this and had overlays ready to go and was happy to share. If you map out your cylinder airmass you start seeing graphs that look a LOT like the engine's torque curve. The good thing also is if you map out your timing curve when you're avoiding knock... this curve very much looks like the inverse of the airmass curve. The result? Well it's another 10.7kw/14hp kw from where I drove it in at. Pretty much everywhere, too. As to how much this car actually makes in Hub Dyno numbers, American Dyno numbers, or Mainline dyno numbers, I say I don't know and it's gone up ~25kw since I started tinkering lol. It IS interesting how the shorter ratio gears I have aren't scaled right on this dyno - 6840RPM is 199KMH, not 175KMH. I have also seen other printouts here with cars with less mods at much higher "kmh" for their RPM due Commodores having 3.45's or longer (!) rear diff ratios maxing out 4th gear which is the 1:1 gear on the T56. Does this matter? No, not really. The real answer is go to the strip and see what it traps, but: I guess I should have gone last Sunday...
    • 310mm rotors will be avilable from Australia, Japan, and probably a few other places. Nothing for the front can be put on the back.
