This is my 1997 Nissan Skyline R33 GTS T Series 2

2jt84w.jpg

2w7ilbq.jpg

6ok0ti.jpg

Currently its pretty stock only modification to it is 18" rims and a 3 inch full exaust.

I want to change the look of the car.

Whether it be body kits, carbon fibre parts. window tint, lowering etc

As this is my first skyline and i am not a really car savvy any information you could provide would be appreciated i am willing to spend about 2 grand on it.

If you could provide the part name, cost, also i am located in perth so preferably want to buy it from perth not get it flown over.

Sorry if i have put this in the wrong section also i would love to see your r33 modifications that you reckon would suit my car

Also if you need any more information i will be watching this topic like a hawk so dont be afraid to ask.

Thanks for the time and consideration

Buy some Tein Super Street Coilovers (should be under $2k). Height and dampener adjustable, extremely easy to install yourself.

Where I got mine:

WA Suspensions

* SAUWA sponsor

* Anything Suspension related

* Contact Brad (aka R DIRTY 3 for pricing)

Talk to Brad or Matt, they are both here on SAUWA and have their own Skylines.

...........

And tint the windows for maybe $300? I personally used TKO Window Tinting a couple years back. My tint is still perfect, and they did darker than legal for me.

Basically i am wanting to first increase the whole look, I was thinking of putting coil overs in but right know with the 2k i wanna do a body kit and or carbon fibre bonnet. But i dont know prices, sellers etc

Also 2k is fairly expensive for suspension is there something that would be slightly cheaper around 1k mark?

Also i don't know the road rules well but would coil overs be illegal?

for tint would you suggest Midnight express?

cheers

yes coilovers are illegal and no 2K isnt expensive for suspension. if all you want is a lower ride height just get a some lower springs put on your standard shocks, much cheaper

yes carbon fibre bonnets are illegal unless they're ADR approved (good luck trying to find one)

coil-over suspension isnt illegal afaik as long as its made to suit the car, and obviously isnt bunky or track spec (leaking, too low, too stiff)

blue headlights and parklights are illegal. i reccomend running 6000k hid's which are a blue/white and bright enough, aftermarket hid's are illegal but nearly every import and alot of other cars in perth run them and f**k all people get hassled for them, if u wanna be a bitch run some phillips crystal vision globes im pretty sure they're ADR approved but they're not as bright and not as blue

A full fibreglass copy bodykit will cost you around 1k, and after factoring in painting and fitting, you'll be pretty close to your 2k budget.

First thing I would do is fix the hilux spec ride height :(

I'm running 6000k headlights in my r34, and it's perfect for me. Not quite as blue as they look in my avatar...

Put some stock looking rear pods on the car 1st, since you already have the stock side skirts as currently without the pods, when you look from the side the back end looks 'higher' off the ground compared to the rest of the car.

For the looks department I personally would only get a stock-ish looking body kit (which your car has 1/2 of it already), wheels (you have already), black tints & maybe some personalized # plates, since I prefer a clean stock looking car.

& you can lower it a bit, although I left my car at its stock Camry height as I would have trouble going down my driveway since it is on a steep angle & I fear I might have some parking accidents if I get mine lowered :(

My skyline is permitted for its' coilovers.. this is the WA section.

Lowered springs on standard shocks is shit.

Coilovers will lower your car removing the need for a bodykit, whilst removing the big gap between your wheel and the top of the wheel arch/guard. Your car will handle better too, 33s have way too much body roll.

And tint so you can make sweet love to your boyfriend/girlfriend at the zigzag or king's park and nobody can see inside.

Don't get a carbon fibre bonnet. Stop watching fast and furious and stop going to auto-salon :) Just my opinion anyway!

Dont waste your time with body kits or any of that crap. Buy some decent street coilover suspension (No, coilovers are NOT illegal at all), and with regards to window tinting, don't get Midnight Express. Bloody expensive for what it is. Tint-a-car charged me $260 to rip my old tints off my BMW and do a 20% all round.

With regards to headlights, you can get HID headlights, however anything above 4000K temperature is illegal. However, I have 6000K HID's in my R34 and they look nice, and i have never been bothered by the police.

Cost me $350 for darkest legal from tint a car about 2 years ago. It's average during the day but at night it's actually pretty good. Imo getting an illegal tint % looks really good but when you get a yellow it has to come off...

Lowering springs are a disgusting idea. I can should you first hand what kind of HORRIBLE things will happen to your car if you run them. I got coilovers instead and not I'm turning the springs into a coffee table/desk-thing, which is probably the best thing you'll ever do with them.

    • I know people cry at the price of the Getrag 12-14k for a conversion now, but it really is a nice mid point. Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
